JOSEPHINE LENARCIK
September 05, 2004
JOSEPHINE (JESSIE) MARGARET LENARCIK (nee STIPEK) Peacefully on September 2, 2004, at her residence with her daughter by her side, Josephine Lenarcik, aged 86 years of Mulvihill, MB passed away. Josephine was born on November 11, 1917, at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. Because Mom was born on Remembrance Day, she would always watch the events on television and always said that all of Canada celebrated her birthday - even if she didn't. She loved to do handicrafts, gardening, reading and spinning wool on the homemade spinning wheel that her father made for her. Simply from looking at a picture, Mom was able to make a pattern to knit or crochet. She had plants both inside and out which she cared for with love. She always had a large pumpkin patch and it delighted her to give them away to the children at Halloween. Mom taught herself how to read and write Czech, which was her first language. World history fascinated Mom which she took great pleasure in reading about. She also had a keen ability to recite poetry. Mom was interested in writing. She studied journalism by correspondence before she was married. Mom was a member of the Mulvihill Red Cross for over 30 years. Whenever we were sad, Mom would say "Remember what the robins say 'Cheer Up Cheer Up'. Josephine was less than a year old when her mother died of the 1918 influenza epidemic. It was her father who raised her on the family farm. One of her responsibilities, over the course of 15 years, was to carry cream on her bicycle to the Mulvihill train station. When her father passed away she continued to farm. A short time later, she married Bronislaw Lenarcik on October 6, 1956. They continued to farm while Dad also worked for many years for the CNR. Mom is survived by her children; daughters, Frances, Bernice and a son Joseph. She also leaves behind relatives in Canada, United States and Europe. She was predeceased by her husband Bronislaw in 1978, her parents Joseph in 1955 and Kathryn in 1918, her uncle John in 1964 and her aunt Rose. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8, at the St. Erik's Roman Catholic Church in Eriksdale with Fr. Rene Digba officiating. Interment to follow in the Mulvihill Cemetery. Everyone in attendance can consider themselves Honorary Pallbearers for Josephine. The family would like to thank Dr. Neil Burnet and all the doctors, nurses and staff at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre who took care of her during her illness. A special thank you to Patsy Klyne and Darlene Springer for making Mom's stay at home more comfortable. A thank you to everyone who showed kindness to her in the life God provided her. The family would also like to thank everyone who showed support to us at our time of loss. Arrangements by: Arnason Funeral Homes Ltd. Ashern - Lundar 1-204-768-2072
