CAMILLA GALOVICS
September 03, 2004
CAMILLA (MAGDOLNA) GALOVICS It is with deep sadness, the family announces the sudden passing of Camilla on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at the Grace Hospital with her family by her side. Camilla will be lovingly remembered by her husband Gabor with whom she shared 46 years of marriage; daughter Patricia McDougall and son-in-law Ted; son Gabriel Galovics; grandchildren, Jessie, Dallas, Jaydee-Lynn, Stephanie, Michelle and Sandy; and great-grandchild Ryley. She will also be missed by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eva and Andy Kohalmi; nephew Andy Kohalmi Jr.; and many, many great and true friends who she cherished. She was predeceased by her parents, brother and sister. Camilla and her husband Gabor fled from Hungary to Austria in the wake of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. They chose Canada to relocate because she wanted to live where there was peace. They eventually settled in Winnipeg to start their family and a new life. She began working for the University of Winnipeg library in 1967 and before long, became supervisor and chief clerk in the cataloguing department. "Mom, Anyu, Grandma, Magdi, Camilla", was truly a gift from God and we are all so fortunate to have known such a great lady. She was a kind, thoughtful and fun-loving person to be with. She was renowned for her cooking and famous for her cabbage rolls and baking. She was an avid member of Toastmasters International and has been awarded many times for her strong commitment and dedication. An Honorary Life Member and past University of Winnipeg Vice-President of AESES, Camilla had always advocated justice and fairness. Mom was the happiest when her family got together at her house for special celebrations such as birthdays, Thanksgiving, Easter and Christmas. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and cherished the time she spent with them. She loved her cats and dogs and Hawaii was her ultimate place to vacation. God was an important part of her life and it showed through her actions. Her life was filled with many challenges, all of which she faced with courage and dignity. She was a fighter as many close to her knew of her marathon of six open-heart surgeries in 1997. She was known to nurses and doctors as the "Miracle Woman". The family wishes to express their special thanks and sincere appreciation to Dr. Hamilton who gave us seven more fantastic years with her; the firefighters and paramedics who quickly came to her side; and to the emergency staff at the Grace Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. A service celebrating Camilla's life will be held on Saturday, September 4 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave St. in the Buntain Chapel. "We will miss you Mom." Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715

BRYCE WILLIAM RANKIN LAWRENCE Peacefully, surrounded by family on August 28, 2004, Bryce passed away at Grace General Hospital at the age of 86 years. Bryce was predeceased in 2002 by Alice, his wife of 62 years. He lovingly supplemented her care for her last seven years. He is survived by his daughter Carol (Gerald) Lawrence of Calgary; son David, with daughter Colleen, of Edmonton; sister Vera (George) Grandy of Brantford, ON; as well as close friends Linda and Merrill Groff of Winnipeg. He will also be missed by extended family and friends. Bryce retired from TD Bank after many years of service. He was an honorary life member of the Winnipeg Game and Fish Association and served as a Board member for over 40 years.
