Shediac – Mélanie Niles, 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2008 at the City Moncton Hospital after a short illness.

Born in Cormier Village on April 18, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Marie (Richard) Léger.

Mélanie is survived by a very special nephew, Yvon Léger and Carmelle, whom she lived with for the past four months. She is also survived by one daughter, Elva Niles of Coal Branch; two sons, Valerie Gauvin and Victor Gauvin both of Waterloo, ON; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Calixte Gauvin, her second husband, John Niles; five sisters, Lucie, Sara, Annie, Belzémie, Elizabeth; two brothers, William and Dosithé.

Resting at Passage Funeral Co-operative, 3754, Route 134, Shediac Bridge, with visiting hours on Tuesday, November 25, from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm and Wednesday, November 26, from 2 to 3:30pm. Funeral mass to be held at the Saint Joseph RC Church in Shediac on Wednesday, November 26 at 4pm.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or donors’ choice would be appreciated by the family.

Roger Robichaud

Shediac, NB – Roger Robichaud, 80, formerly of Cocagne, passed away on Sunday, November 9th, 2008 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Cormierville on December 26, 1927, he was the son of the late Hector and Fidélisse (Després) Robichaud.

He is survived by his wife, Hermine (Richard); one son, Donald Robichaud (Debra) of Morinville, AB; two brothers, Yvon Robichaud (Rita) and Roland Robichaud (Florence) both of Cormierville; two sisters, Hectorine Robichaud (late Joseph Gagnon) of New Hamphire, USA, Bernadette Robichaud (John Kenny) of Lakeville, NB; and four grandchildren, Nicole, Andréa, Philip and Marc.

Resting at St-Pierre de Cocagne RC Church Slumber room, with visitation on Thursday, November 13, 2008 from 9 to 10:45 am until the time of the funeral. The funeral service will be held at St-Pierre de Cocagne RC Church on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 11 am. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Donations to the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Henri Poirier

Shediac, NB – Henri Poirier, 87, formerly of Cocagne, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 16, at the Villa Providence in Shediac after a lengthy illness.

Born in Shediac Bridge on August 14, 1921, he was the son of the late Albert and Henriette (Thibodeau) Poirier.

Henri is survived by his wife, Juliette (Després); two sons, Robert (Bob) Poirier (Marie-Anne Malenfant and Albert (Catoun) Poirier (Dorine), both of Cocagne; one daughter, Doris Poirier (Robert) of Shediac; one brother, Robert Poirier (late Edith) of Shediac Bridge; two sisters-in-law, Simonne Poirier (late Philippe) of Shediac Bridge, Thérèse Poirier (late Alonzo) of Memramcook; four grandchildren, Tammy, Marc, Jake, Jessica; three great grandchildren, Morgan, Madison and Anthony.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Pierre, Philippe and Alonzo.

Resting at St-Pierre de Cocagne RC Church Slumber room, with visitation on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 from 9:30 to 10:45 am until the time of the funeral. The funeral service will be held at St-Pierre de Cocagne RC Church on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 11 am. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Donations to the Villa Providence, Alzheimer Society or donors’ choice would be appreciated by the family.

Shediac – Juliette Poirier, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Villa Providence in Shediac after a lengthy illness.

Born in Cocagne on October 31, 1924, she was the daughter of the late James Després and Délia Pellerin.

Juliette is survived by one daughter, Doris Poirier of Shediac; two sons, Robert Poirier (Marie-Anne Malenfant) and Albert (Catoun) Poirier (Dorine), both of Cocagne; one brother, Aristide Després (late Andréa) of Cocagne; four grandchildren, Tammy, Marc, Jake, Jessica; three great grandchildren, Morgan, Madison and Anthony.

She was predeceased by her husband, Henri Poirier in 2008, four sisters, Dorilla, Edith, Emélia, Lorraine, two brothers, Gerard and Alcide.

Resting at Passage Funeral Co-Operative, 3754 Route 134, Shediac Bridge, visiting hours will be on Monday, February 9 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9pm and Tuesday, February 10 from 9:30 to 10:30 am. The funeral service will be held at St-Pierre de Cocagne RC Church in Cocagne on Tuesday, February 10 at 11 am.

Donations to the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital, Alzheimer Society or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Shediac, NB – Alfred Breau, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 12, 2009 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Shediac on January 4, 1929, he was the son of the late Denis and Eléonore (Hébert) Breau.

Alfred is survived by his wife of 53 years, Antoinette (Bourque); one son, Dennis of Calgary, AB; two daughters, Anne Koper (Peter) of Chateauguay, QC, Susan LeBlanc (Michael) of Shediac; one brother, Camille Breau (Elise) of Shediac; five sisters, Dora Richard (late Gérard) of Maine, Viola Brownell of California, Edna Poirier of Shediac, Eleanor Boudreau (Albert) of Halifax, Edna Boudreau (Ron) of Shediac; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Danielle, Samantha, Jamie, Briget, Trevor, Jason; two great-grandchildren, Keisha and Brady; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by six brothers, Edmond, Arsène, Henrie, Emile, Aurèle and Barber, also by his birth mother, Autellia LeBlanc.

Resting at Passage Funeral Co-Operative, 3754 Route 134, Shediac Bridge, visiting hours will be on Thursday, January 15th from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January, 16th at the St-Joseph RC Church in Shediac at 11am. There will be no visitation on Friday morning.

Donations to the Canadian Lung Association or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Special Thanks are extended to the Extra Mural nurse, Jessica and the staff of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital.

Shediac – Evangéline Léger, 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the Villa Providence in Shediac after a brief illness.

Born in Grande-Digue on July 22, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Adélard and Eliza (Cormier) Léger.

Evangéline is survived by one sister, Justine Poirier (Late Hervé) of Dieppe and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Lorette and Bernadette; and one brother, Pierre.

There will be no visitations. The funeral service will be held at Passage Funeral Co-operative Chapel in Shediac Bridge on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 11 am.

Donations to the Historic Society of Grande-Digue or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Shediac – Janet A. Parker, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 29th at the Villa Providence Shediac Inc.

Born in Moncton on September 11, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William and Rebecca Augusta (Barnes) Humphrey.

Janet is survived by two sons, Chris Parker (Susan) of Shediac and Brent Parker of Sudbury ON; three grandchildren, Brad, Bradley, Lucas; one great grandchild, Kayla; one sister-in-law, Barbara Watters; and several nieces and nephew.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph; two sisters, Augusta and Ann; and one brother, William.

Resting at Passage Funeral Co-Operative, 3754 Route 134, Shediac Bridge, visiting hours will be on Friday, January 2, 2009 from 7 to 9pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 3rd, 2009 at the Trinity United Church in Shediac at 2pm. and will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Douglas MacEachern.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society, the Moncton SPCA or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Born in Shediac on July 12, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Bruno and Léa (Fagan) Gallant.

Annette is survived by one son, Roger (Yvette) of Grande-Digue; one daughter, Alfreda Wojtowicz (Marvin) of Ottawa; one daughter-in-law, Germaine (late Francis) of Grande-Digue; one brother Phillip Gallant (Doris) of England; six grandchildren, Gisèle, Jeannette, Sharlene, Kevin, Brian, Stéphane; four great grandchildren, Mélanie, Steven, Samuel, and Lily-Grace.

She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred; two sons, Francis and Jean-Maurice; one daughter, Florence; three sisters, Edna, Juliette and Eva; six brothers, Andrew, Dismas, Gérard, Arthur, Fred and Clarence.

Visitation at Passage Funeral Co-operative, 3754, Rte 134 in Shediac Bridge on Thursday, April 2nd, from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral mass at the St-Joseph RC Church in Shediac on Friday, April 3rd at 11 am. No visitation on Friday morning.

Donations to the donors’ choice would be appreciated by the family.
