Garfield Meredith Wilson
WILSON:- Garfield Meredith Wilson, 89 of 22 Stanley Road, Grand Manan, and formerly of Seal Cove, passed away at the Grand Manan Nursing Home on Thursday after a breif illness.
Born in Seal Cove he was the son of the late Fred and Marjorie (Benson) Wilson of Seal Cove. Before his retirement Mr. Wilson was both a ground and lobster fisherman, also.a member of the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church. He is survived by one daughter Susan Parker (Herbert) of North Head, Two sisters Virginia Green (Liscombe) of Grand Harbour, Geraldine Nelson (George) of Seal Cove, N.B.as well as four Grand Children and seven Great Grandchildren. Mr. Wilson was predeceased by one daughter Carol Ingersoll.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, December 8th, at Ells Funeral Home, 2-4 PM, 7-9 PM The funeral service will be held from the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church at 2:30 PM with Rev Ward McComiskey officiating with interment to follow in the family plot Maple Grove Cemetery, Castalia, N.B.

Mary H. Ingalls
After a brief illness Ms. Mary H. Ingalls of 1162 Route 776 Grand Manan passed away Wednesday March 13th, 2002 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, she was 78. Born of the late William and Della Ingalls, she was a music teacher until she retired and member of the Grand Harbour United Baptist Church. She is survived by several cousins and friends.
Visiting hours will take place Friday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Ells Funeral Home, from where the funeral service will be held Saturday March 13th, 2002 at 1:30pm with Rev. Troy Dennis officiating, internment to follow in the family plot at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Austin Green
After a lengthy illness, Mr. Austin (Aussie) Green of 1740 Route 776, Seal Cove Grand Manan Island passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital Sunday May 19th, 2002, at the age of 72. He was the son of Joseph and Mary ( Schofield ) Green. Mr. Green worked as lobster fisherman before his retirement. He is survived by his good friend and companion Marion Mason, two sons Mr. Wayne Green (Castalia) and Mr. Phillip Green (Castalia), two daughters Donna Green (Castalia) and Mrs. Brenda (Herb) Sewell (McAdam). Also four sisters Leah Ingersoll (North Head), Glenna (Harvard) Jones, Fredericton, Velda Randall and Olive Brown both of Letete, two brothers Stanley (Mary) Green and Malcolm (Catherine) Green both of Seal Cove, 9 Grand Children and 2 Great Grandchildren.
Visiting hours will take place at Central Wesleyan Church Monday 2-4 and 7-9 pm from where the Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday May 28th, 2002 at 1:30 PM with Rev. Malcolm Wilson
MALCOLM ARCHIE WILSON, 80 of Grand Harbour, Grand Manan, NB passed away suddenly at the Grand Manan Hospital Friday morning, May 24th. Born in Grand Harbour on September 7, 1921, his parents were Frank and Mary (Wilcox) Wilson also of Grand Harbour. Mr. Wilson served in the Merchant Navy during the 2nd World War. He was also a fishermen, construction worker and also in his career on the water was 2nd Mate on the Grand Manan ferry.
He is survived by his wife Ellen "Bessie" McLean, his daughter Susan (George) Harris of Grand Harbour, 5 adopted children, his granddaughter Kelly Greenough of Worcester, Mass, 13 adopted grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Also survived by his sister Avis (Leighton) Taylor of Castalia and his brother Ross Wilson of North Head, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by four sisters Mavis, Margaret, Zelia, Muriel and three brothers Jim, Eldred and Dick.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, May 25th, at Ells Funeral Home, 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held Sunday, May 26th, from the Grand Harbour United Baptist Church, at 2:30 pm with Pastor Troy Dennis officiating. Interment to follow in the family plot at Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. George Willard Johnson
George Willard Johnson, 64, of 12 Marathon Lane, Grand Manan, N.B. passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital, surrounded by his family on Sunday morning November 17th, 2002. Born at Woodwards Cove, he was the son of the late Willard and Faye (Forsythe) Johnson, of Woodwards Cove, N.B.
Georgie was a fisherman and for many years, was the owner and Captain of the MV. Aaron & Kate. He was a devoted father and Grandfather, an avid hunter and spent many days hunting and camping with his friends David and Neil.
He was a member of the North Head United Baptist Church, Mananook Lodge #23 F & AM, Grand Manan.
Survived by one daughter Helen Johnson, (Rodney Ingalls), three sons Bill Johnson (Rhonda) of Sussex, Bruce Johnson, and Robert ( Bobby ) Johnson ( Leona ) of Grand Manan, two brothers Francis Benson (Phyllis), Biddleford, Maine, and Leon Benson (Sandra) Calais, Maine. One sister Kay Jefferies ( Jeff ), Daytona, Florida. Eight Grandchildren, Heidi Urquhart, (Robert), Kate Ingalls, Aaron, Jay, Joshua, Benjamin, Jared, Janica Johnson, and one Great Grand-son Carter Urquhart. Several neices and nephews.
Georgie was predeceased by his wife Myrna ( 2001 ), his father Willard ( 1941 ), his mother Faye ( 1975 ), and brother Walter Green (2002 ).
The family will receive friends and relatives at Ells Funeral Home Monday 2-4, 7-9 PM, the Funeral Service will be held from the North Head United Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 19th, 2002 at 1 PM with Rev. Ian Rough officiating, internment to follow at the family plot at the North Head Community Cemetery. Gerald Flewelling Johnson
Mr. Gerald Flewelling Johnson of North Head, Grand Manan Island passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital Tuesday, October 29th, 2002 he was 89 . Born in North Head he was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. John & Stella (Flewelling) Johnson. He is survived by his son Mr. Evan (Gladys ) Johnson, North Head; and one Grand Daughter Karen Johnson, Toronto ON. Mr. Johnson was predeceased by his wife Mary and one son David.
Visiting hours will be held at Ells Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 7-9pm and the Funeral Service will be held from the North Head United Baptist Church on Thursday, October 31st, 2002 at 1pm with Rev. Ian Rough officiating, internment to follow at the family plot at the North Head Cemetery.

Marjorie Isabelle Sawyer
Marjorie Isabelle Sawyer, 87, of Grand Manan passed away after a brief illness at the Grand Manan Hospital on Thursday, November 21st, 2002. Born in Grand Harbour she was the daughter of the late James and Sophia (Ganong) Cook of Grand Harbour.
Mrs. Sawyer was a Registered Nurse and spent several years as a nurse in Pediatrics at the Salvation Army Notre Dame DeGrace Montreal, PQ and then moved to Grand Manan to serve at the Grand Manan Hospital. She was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, and a very active member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church Women and served on the Church Vestry for many years.
Mrs. Sawyer was survived by one sister Alice (Somers) Newton (Phillip) of Ajax, Ont., one brother Percy Cook (Alice), of North Head, formerly of Shediac, N.B., several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Sawyer was predeceased by her husband Milford, and two brothers Arlington, and George.
Visitation will be at Ells Funeral Home, Friday 2-4, 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 23rd, at 2. PM with Layreader Kevin Frankland, interment to follow in the family plot Maple Grove Cemetery. Donations to the Restoration Fund of St. Paul’s Anglican Church would be appreciated by the family.

Laleah M. Brown
Mrs. Laleah M. Brown, 91 of Grand Manan passed away at the Grand Manan Nursing Home Tuesday, January 14th . Mrs Brown was born of the late John Capen and Vivian (Morse) Ossinger, she was a member of the Grand Harbour United Baptist Church, the Helping Hands, and also a Member of the Alexandra #1 Pythian Sisters. She is survived by one daughter Mrs. Geraldine (John) Ingersoll of Woodwards Cove, and one son Mr. Murray (Mary) Brown of Grand Harbour, one sister, Mrs. Blanche Guptill of Grand Harbour, 11 Grand Children, 22 Great Grand Children, 6 Great Great Grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Mrs Brown was predeceased by her husband Sherman, one Grandson Bryce Daggett, one sister Helen Moorhouse and one brother Maybury Ossinger.
Visiting hours will be held at Ells Funeral Home Thursday January 16th, from 2-4 & 7-9pm and the funeral service will be held from the Grand Harbour United Baptist Church Friday, January 17th, at 1pm with Rev. Edna Frances Small
Edna Frances Small, 85, of White Head Island, Grand Manan, passed away at the Grand Manan Nursing Home Saturday evening, February 8th, after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Small was the daughter of the late Darrell and Gertrude ( Trask ) Cheney of Little River, N.S.
Mrs. Small was the Post Mistress on White Head for Twenty- three years, and a member of the White Head Baptist Church.
Survived by one daughter Claudia Barnett (Donald) of Fredericton, one son Russell Small (Hanna) of Oakville, Ont., six Grand Children Drew Simpson (Sharon), Jane Gillies (Kevin), Michael Barnett (Chantal), Kevin Barnett (Tracey), Ryan Small (Vesna), Darren Small (Robin), seven Great Grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Small was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband Gladwyn, September 2001, also she was predeceased by two sisters Ruth, Artis, and two half sisters Twilah, Rozelle, and one half brother Cameron.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the White Head Baptist Church on Tuesday February 11th, 2-4, 7-9 PM from where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 PM with Rev. James Appleby officiating.
