Thomas Beers
1919-2007

Thomas P. Beers 88, of Moncton passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday October 14, 2007. Born in Targetville, he was the son of the Late Thomas and Ezilla (Roberts) Beers. Thomas was retired construction worker and lumberman and attended the Wesleyan Church. He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of Moncton Legion Branch # 6.

Thomas will be sadly missed by his wife, Annie (Brown) Beers: daughters; Doreen Henke (Gerald), ON; Joyce Rietzel, Sheila Caissie (Maurice), Bonnie McLeod (John), Rhonda Beers; Cheryl Beers (Mike) all of Moncton: sons; Gerald (Marjorie), Norman (Joyce), Lorne (Sharon), Roger (Linda), Brian (Valerie), Tommy (Odette): Daughter-in-Law; Sharon Beers: several grandchildren, several great grandchildren: several great great grandchildren: sisters; Annie Carson, Esther King, Beulah Flanagan all of Moncton: brother; Ernest (Marjorie), Moncton. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sons: Gordon, Floyd: brothers; Farris, Girvan: sisters; Lucy, Blanche.

Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) Wednesday 2-4, 7-9pm. Moncton Legion # 6 Memorial Service Wednesday 4pm. Funeral Service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel Thursday October 18, 2007, 1:30pm. Refreshments following the service. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery.

Romeo Vautour
1936-2007

Romeo Vautour 70, of Moncton passed away at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital on Saturday October 13, 2007. He was the son of the late Edgar and Zelma (Brine) Vautour of Port Elgin.

He was a member of St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church. Romeo had worked at Sumner Company and had 22 years of service at Lockharts and 3 years with Beaver Lumber. He spent 9 years doing volunteer driving for the Greater Moncton Volunteer Center and over the past 15 years he also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, CNIB, Magma and other community organizations and charities.

Romeo will be sadly missed by his wife of 41 years Mary (Stevens) Vautour; daughters, Doreen, London, ON; Paula (Todd) Gautreau, Moncton; Granddaughters, Kaleigh and Chelsie; half sister Marilyn (Ed) Dupuis, Amherst and half brother Roger (Linda) Moore, Amherst. Besides his parents he was predeceased by infant brother Joseph and brother Arthur.

Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Tuesday October 16, 2007, 2-4, 7-9. Funeral Mass from St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday October 17, 2007, 11am, Rev. Bernard Sloan officiating. Reception following the service. Interment in St. Clements Roman Catholic Cemetery, Port Elgin.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Greater Moncton Volunteer Center or Memorial of donor’s choice would be appreciated.

Margaret Daisley
1928-2007

Margaret Elizabeth Daisley, 78, of Riverview, passed away at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton on Satarday, October 13, 2007, surrounded by her family. Born in Bay St. Lawrence, NS, she was the daughter of the Late John and S. Jane (Burton) Brown.

Margaret was a member of the Catholic faith, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great nana and sister.

Margaret will be sadly missed by her sons; Norman (Peggy), Victoria, BC, Bernie (Lorne), Riverview, Angus (Connie), Moncton, grandchildren; Brad (Tina), Lisa (Don), Grant (Dana), Tina all of BC, Angus (Annie), Cape Breton, NS, Tascha (Todd), Riverview, Bradly, Moncton, great grandchildren; Samantha, Nathan, Jacob, Ally, Kalep, Meghan, Brandon, Diamon, Dawson, Sister, Agnes Dixon, Glace Bay, NS, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Leo J. Daisley, seven sisters and four brothers.

Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Monday, October 15, 7-9. A private graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Moncton.

Susan J. Trites
1948-2007

Susan Jane Trites, 58, of Heatherton, NS, passed away at St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish, NS, on Friday, October 12, 2007. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of John Clark of Moncton and the late Catherine (Breau) Clark.

Sue will be missed terribly by her husband Gerald; daughter, Catherine Leeanne Matthews (Darrell), Moncton; son, Jamie Breau (Cindy), Hamilton, ON; grandchildren, Alexander and Carter; stepsons, Chris Trites (Trudy), Hamilton, ON, John Trites, Halifax, NS, David Trites, New York, NY; step grandchildren, Jerrid and Kevin Trites and their mother Cheryl Anne; sisters, Anne Brooks (Frank), Riverview, Carol Lee Rowan (Paul), Riverview; her aunt, Rita Breau and several nieces and nephews.

Sue devoted her life to the happiness of her family and friends. She had a great love for all children and a remarkable way of touching the lives of those she met. Her favourite wish for others was that they have peace, love and joy. The family and others who love her fervently wish that she has now found her own peace, love and joy.

Visitation will be held at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Monday October 15, 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 11:00am, with Rev. Allison Carroll officiating. Reception to follow the service. Interment in Alderwood Cemetery, Riverview.

In Sue’s memory, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Charity of choice.

Daniel M. Leaman
1936-2007

Daniel M. Leaman, 71, of Moncton, passed away at his residence on Friday October 12, 2007. Born in Moncton he was the son of the late John and Gertrude (Young) Leaman. Dan was known for being a man of many talents, and lived in the High Artic for over 20 years working at the Resolute Bay airport in their administration. He was an active member of St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, member of Council # 1310 K of C and the Magnetic Hill Lions Club.

Dan was like a father to Lockie (Trish) Young, a grandfather to Jason and Ryan. He is survived by his brother Doug (Bonnie), Lutes Mountain, sister-in-law Carol, Lutes Mountain, nieces; Barbara Paige, Lutes Mountain, Patricia Constantine (Andrew), Lakeview, Shannon (Wayne) Wilbur and Tammy, both of Riverview, Michelle LeBlanc (Roger), Lutes Mountain, and nephew John, Memramcook East. He was predeceased by his beloved Madeline and brother Don.

Funeral Mass will be at St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, Moncton, on Wednesday October 17, 2007 at 11:00 am, Rev. Allison Carroll Officiating. Reception following the service, interment in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.

Martin E. Briggs
1922-2007

Martin Edward Briggs of McNair Manor, Moncton and formerly of Briggs Crossroad, Lutes Mountain, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, October 12, 2007 with his family by his side. Born in Stilesville he was the son of the late Charles and Grace (Chapman) Briggs.

Martin was a Veteran of WWII having served five years with the Royal Canadian Army Signal Corps in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany (present for the liberation of Holland). He was a member of the Riverview Veterans Assoc., and enjoyed speaking to students at various schools about his war experiences for Remembrance Day. After the war he owned a store on Waverley Ave., worked as an electrician at HMCS Coverdale and ran his own successful electrical contracting business for a number of years. In addition, he built many houses and assisted in building/renovating several churches in the Atlantic Provinces and England. He will be remembered as friendly, generous, outgoing and always ready to help as the “go to” guy on “anything” needing to be fixed or built here or at his Florida neighborhood where he spent 27 winters with his wife. Martin was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene which formed a big part of his life, serving in numerous leadership roles over the years. He enjoyed travelling throughout North America, hunting, fishing, gardening, going to the camp and cottage, building boats and trailers, and he even had a motorcycle.

Martin will be sadly missed by his wife of 61 years, Minnie (Wilbur) Briggs; daughters, Kayle Eno (Tom), Grand Barachois, Esther Miller (Steve), Riverton, WY; Granddad to Shane Eno (Selena Davidson), Mahone Bay, NS, Ryan Miller, Charlotte, NC, Jolene Osborne (Ryan), Cody, WY; two great grandchildren; sisters, Bertha Smith, Plaster Rock, Evelyn West, Moncton; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by grandson, Darren Eno; brothers, Russell Briggs and George Coates.

Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd., Moncton (858-1995), Sunday, 2 … 5 pm. A Veteran’s Memorial Service will be held Sunday, October 14, 2007, 4:45 pm. Funeral Service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, Monday, October 15, 2007, 2pm; Reception following the service. Interment, Stilesville Cemetery.

Kenneth W. Hicks
1914-2007

Kenneth W. Hicks, 93, of Moncton passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Friday October 12, 2007. Born in Midgic, he was the son of the late Hedley and Ida (Fillmore) Hicks. Ken was a former carpenter and was retired from Lounsbury Truck Division, Moncton. He was a member of Parkside Baptist Church.

Ken will be sadly missed by his sons; Norman (Sheila), Saint John; Richard (Ann), Sackville; Larry (Eva), Moncton; Philip (Karen), Brookfield, NS. ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; sister, Hilda Brooks, Springhill, NS: brothers; Cecil (Vivian), Sackville; Guptil (Marjorie), Quispamsis. several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Ruby (Ayer) Hicks (2006): Daughter Carol: Brother; Howard; Sisters; Sylvia, Glenara.

Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd., Moncton (858-1995), Sunday October 14, 2007, 2pm until the time of the service at 4pm in Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Jim Alley officiating. Interment, Four Corners Cemetery, Middle Sackville.

Jennie M. Ermen

Jennie Myrtle Ermen, 67, of Moncton, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Wednesday October 10, 2007. Born in Moncton she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Petley) Bryant. Jennie was a member of St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, the Ladies Bridge Club, Past President of the Moncton Lionettes and a bowler with the Wednesday Morning Ladies League. She retired from Blakeny Fuels with over 40 Years service.

Jennie will be sadly missed by her husband of 47 years John, sons; Craig (Jacqueline), Moncton, Todd at home, grandchildren; Ashley, Michelle, sister, Anne (Doll) Blanchard, Pointe du Chene, brothers; Bob, Jim and Louis all of Toronto, ON, Vic (Beth) , Calgary, AB, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters; Reta Spencer, Bertie Arsenault, brothers; Tom, Jack and Mack.

Funeral Mass at St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, Friday, October 12, 2007, 11:00 am, Rev. Allison Carroll officiating. Reception following the service: Interment at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
