Greenlaw, Foster Stewart

GREENLAW, Foster Stewart, RNA - Foster Stewart Greenlaw, RNA, 78, of Grand Manan Island and Brown’s Flat, N.B., passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on Friday morning, Sept. 15, 2006 after a lengthy illness. He was the son of the late Nelson and Vera (Murphy) Greenlaw of North Head, Grand Manan, N.B.
Mr. Greenlaw was a Registered Nursing Assistant and a Respiratory Therapist. He belonged to the NB Registered Nurses Assistants Association and was the first President of the Association of New Brunswick Registered Nursing Assistants. He was a member of the North Head Wesleyan Church and served with the Sunday school, and also served on the Board of Deacons for several years.
He is survived by his wife, Gwenda (Brander) Greenlaw; two sons, David Paul, of North Head, N.B., and Michael, of Vancouver, B.C.
He was predeceased by one sister, Helena Bunker; and also his two brothers, Robert and Herbert.
The family received friends and relatives on Monday at Ells Funeral Home.
The funeral service took place from the North Head Wesleyan Church, Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006 at
1 p.m., with Rev. Charles Bain officiating.
Internment followed at the North Head Community Cemetery.
The family has requested donations may be made to the North Head Wesleyan Church Memorial Fund.

Fairweather, Addie Mae

Fairweather, Addie Mae - At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on March 7, 2007, Addie Mae Fairweather, widow of the late Archie D. Fairweather, of St. Stephen, N.B.; daughter of the late Douglas and Bessie (McLaughlin) Blair.
Survived by six sons, one daughter, 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two brothers, three sisters, sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews.
Resting at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., from where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 2 p.m.
Interment in Moores Mills Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 9, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family.

Hunt, Charleen P.

HUNT, Charleen P. - Charleen P. Hunt, age 79, of Glenridge Drive (and formerly of Gedney Street), Augusta, Me., died Monday, March 5, 2007 at Maine General Rehabilitation and Nursing Care, at Glenridge Drive. She was born in St. Stephen, N.B., on Feb. 1, 1928 to Philip Farnham and Clara (Kilpatrick) Farnham.
Mrs. Hunt was a 1945 graduate of Milltown High School. She continued her education at Saint John (N.B.) General School of Nursing, where she received her degree as a registered nurse.
Prior to her retirement in 1983, Mrs. Hunt was employed as a registered nurse at Augusta General Hospital for 23 years. She was previously employed by hospitals in New York City, Boston, Mass., and Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor, Me.
Mrs. Hunt was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and the St. Faith Altar Guild at that church.
Her husband, John Hunt, preceded her in death in 1988. She was also predeceased by her parents and a brother, Charles 'Jack' Farnham, of New Brunswick, Canada.
Surviving is a son, David Hunt and his wife, Anita, of Augusta, Me.; one brother, Lloyd Farnham, of St. Stephen, N.B.; two sisters, Betty Stuart and Sheila Acheson, both of St. Stephen, N.B.; three grandchildren: Ian, Andrew and Allison; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2007 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Augusta. Committal prayers will follow in the chapel at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.
In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to St. Faith Altar Guild, c/o St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 9 Summer Street, Augusta, ME 04330.

Burns, W. Douglas

Douglas Burns, 82, of Public Landing, N.B., passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., surrounded by his family on Monday, March 5, 2007. Born 1924 in St. Stephen, N.B., he was the son of the late Raymond and Helen (Scott) Burns. He was a World War II veteran, serving in Europe and England with the Medic Corp General Hospital No. 12 between 1942 and 1945.
After he returned home, he began working for the Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital. After 38 years of service, he retired in 1984. Doug was a longstanding member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 9, St. Stephen.
In his retirement days he especially enjoyed travelling with his wife, bowling with the Recycled Teenagers, watching baseball, hockey and the beautiful view from his front windows.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth (McCartney) Burns, of Public Landing, N.B.; eldest daughter, Karen Noel (David), of Edmonton, Alta.; one son, Larry Burns (Debby), of Grand Bay-Westfield, N.B.; and youngest daughter, Kathleen Burns (Murrel), of Moores Mills, N.B.; grandchildren, Brenda Cunningham (Paul), of Calgary, Alta.; David Williams (Karmin), of Edmonton, Alta., Scott Burns of Saint John, N.B., and Michael Burns, of Grand Bay-Westfield, N.B.; stepgranddaughters, Jody Bishop (Tim), of St. Stephen, N.B., and Michelle Albert, of Aroostock, N.B.; six great-grandchildren; one brother, William Burns (Shirley), of St. Stephen, N.B.; one sister, Jean Davis, of Oak Bay, N.B.; nieces, nephews and many friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Melvin Burns and a sister, Jacqueline Hanson.
Visitation will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmoreland Road, Saint John, N.B., on Friday March 9 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with a Legion Tribute beginning at 7 p.m.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 1 p.m.
Private family interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Doug can be made to the charity of choice.

Bell, Laura Adelaide

BELL, Laura Adelaide - At the Queensway-Carleton Hospital, Ottawa, Ont., on March 8, 2007, Laura Adelaide (Adele) Bell, daughter of the late Roy and Reta Bell of St. Stephen, N.B., sister of Elaine Love (Richard), of Adams, Mass., the late Dorothy Pryor (late Thomas), of Ottawa, Ont., and the late Robert Bell (Von), of St. Stephen, N.B.; beloved aunt of six nephews, three nieces, three great-nephews and six great-nieces.
Adele moved to Ottawa in 1942 to join the public service. She spent six years with the Department of Defence before transferring to the Department of Foreign Affairs, where she was employed for 37 years. During her career, she was posted abroad 14 times.
Cremation. A funeral service will be held at the grave site in St. Stephen, N.B., at a later date.
Donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated.

Baldwin, Dorothy

BALDWIN, Dorothy - Peacefully, at the Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews, N.B., on Thursday, March 8, 2007, Mrs. Dorothy (Clinch) Baldwin, wife of the late Heber M. Baldwin, of St. George, N.B. Born in St. George, N.B., on Jan. 6, 1911, she was a daughter of the late George and Elsie (Goodeill) Clinch.
A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by three sons, Stanley (Evelyn) Baldwin, of St. George, N.B., Gerald (Paula) Baldwin, of Saint John, N.B., and Peter (Joan) Baldwin, of Fredericton, N.B.; two daughters, Mary J. Nesseralla, of Brockton, Mass., and Dorothy (Mac) Matheson, of Leamington, Ont.; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one sister, Bernice (Stephen) Campbell, of Breadalbane, N.B.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one daughter, Aileen Baldwin; three brothers, William, Edward and Joseph Clinch; and six sisters, Ethel Stewart, Vera Reynolds, Laura Maxwell, Helen Thompson, Marion Cunningham and Nellie Brown.
Dorothy was a longtime member of the A.C.W. of St. Mark's Anglican Church of St. George, N.B., as well as a Sunday school teacher. She was an avid quilter, card player and fabulous cook. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., with visiting on Saturday, March 10.
The service was held from St. Mark's Anglican Church, St. George, N.B., on Sunday, March 11, 2007, at 2 p.m.
Interment will be held in the St. George Rural Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.

Stevens, Ruth Lillian

STEVENS, Ruth Lillian - At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., March 11, 2007, Ruth Lillian Stevens, widow of A. Earl Stevens, born May 5, 1916 to Henry O. and Rose (Baxter) Bell.
Survived by daughter, Margaret Harding (Archdeacon Lyman); three granddaughters, Victoria Harding (Bill Hong), Anne Harding (Chris Kitowski), and Jennifer Ives (Chris); twin great-grandchildren, Nate and Amelia Ives; three sisters, Roberta Holdworth, Glenna Monahan and Anita Marvin; one brother, Edmund O. Bell (Anita); and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents and one sister, Betty Ingersoll.
Funeral service will be held from St. Peter's Anglican Church, Church Street, Milltown Heights, St. Stephen, N.B., on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at 2 p.m.
Resting at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., with visiting hours on Tuesday, March 13, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Interment in St. Stephen Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to St. Peter's Anglican Church, World Relief Development Fund or charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family.

Erskine, Pearl Isabel

ERSKINE, Pearl Isabel - At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on March 9, 2007, Pearl Isabel Erskine, wife of the late Frederick Wilmot Erskine, of Oak Hill, N.B.
Survived by four daughters, Sylvia Matheson (Ronnie), St. Stephen, N.B., Nancy Richard (Allan), Oak Hill, N.B., Louise Colpitts (Basil), St. Stephen, N.B., and Darlene Leavitt (David), Oak Hill, N.B.; two sons, Donald (Cathy), Oak Hill, N.B., and Wayne (Pattianne), St. Stephen, N.B.; 19 grandchildren; 29 greatgrandchildren; one sister, Audrey Gardiner, several nieces and nephews.
Resting at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., from where the funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at 4 p.m.
Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery, Oak Hill, N.B.
Visiting hours were held at the funeral home on Monday, March 12, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
