Lever, Judith Claire
LEVER, Judith Claire – The death of Judy Claire Lever occurred at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Sunday, April 8, 2007. Born July 1, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Alma (Goodill) Lever.
Judy is survived by one sister, Mary Faith Cleghorn, of Leverville, N.B.; one brother, David Lever,
of Collingwood, Ont.; one niece,
five nephews, great-nieces, great- nephews, one uncle and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 13, 2007 at 2 p.m., from the Rolling Dam United Church, Rolling Dam, N.B.
The family will receive friends with a reception following the service at the church hall.
Interment at the Rolling Dam United Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Carroll, David Colby
CARROLL, David Colby - David Colby Carroll, 61, of White Head Island, N.B., passed away unexpectedly on Monday. April 2, 2007 on his fishing boat, the Golden Daybreak. He was the son of Lester and Beth Carroll, of White Head Island.
David spent his life on White Head and in his early years worked with his father on the Sojourner providing ferry service from White Head to Ingalls Head, Grand Manan.
David had many jobs throughout the fishery and worked hard at all of them. He was well liked and respected by the men that fished alongside him. Owning his own lobster boat, The Golden Daybreak, and fishing gear, was his life’s work and passion. "Stop by for a visit" was an invitation always heard from David where everyone was, and made to feel welcome in his home, or when he was at work in his shed.
Along with his parents, he leaves behind the love of his life, his wife Diana, at home; one son, Darren, of White Head, N.B.; one stepdaughter, Megan Ossinger (Ben), of White Head, N.B.; one stepson, Stephen Zwicker (Marlene), of Castalia, N.B.; one sister, Christine Morse (Blake), of White Head, N.B.; his grandchildren, Alex, William, Hayley, Abbigail, and Elizabeth; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Visiting hours were held from the White Head Baptist Church on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
The funeral service was held from the church on Thursday, April 5, 2007 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Jim Appleby officiating.
Interment followed at the White Head Cemetery.

Wilcox, Vinton Everett
WILCOX, Vinton Everett – Peacefully, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on April 22, 2007, Vinton Everett Wilcox, husband of Mrs. Leona (Robichaud) Wilcox, of Utopia, N.B. Born at Wood Island, Grand Manan, N.B., on Feb. 13, 1932, he was a son of the late Cecil and Ona (Benson) Wilcox.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, besides his wife he is survived by six sons, Michael (Suzanne), of Pennfield, N.B., Robert (Angie), of Geary, N.B., Stephen Wilcox, of Utopia, N.B., James (Rita), and Daniel (Patricia), both of Pennfield, N.B., and David (Joyce), of Wainwright, Alta.; one daughter, Peggy (Roger) McLaughlin, of Saint John, N.B.; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Roger (Lois), of Utopia, N.B., Gerald (Marcia), of Saint John, N.B., and Lloyd (Debbie), of Lincoln, N.B.; two sisters, Mary (John) Thorne, of Saint John, N.B., and Rose Wilcox (Roland Chater), of Utopia, N.B.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by one brother, Ernie Wilcox.
Vinton served with the Canadian Armed Forces as a crewman for 23 years. He was stationed at Borden, Petawawa and Gagetown. In 1964, he served a peacekeeping tour in Cyprus. Both before and after his military career, Vinton also was a fisherman. He enjoyed reading, and loved westerns and war history. Vinton also loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., from where the service will be held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Bruce Cheney officiating.
Interment to follow in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery.
Visiting at the funeral home will be held on Tuesday, April 24, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 40 will hold a tribute service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Leavitt, Kinsbur John
LEAVITT, Kinsbur John – Peacefully, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on April 4, 2007, Mr. Kinsbur John Leavitt, in his 101st year, of Back Bay, N.B. Born in Back Bay, N.B., on Sept. 8, 1906, he was a son of the late John and Sara Leila (Harris) Leavitt.
A loving brother, he is survived by one brother, Octive, of Geary, N.B.; one sister, Bessie Hanley, of Back Bay, N.B.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Melvin, Otis and Basil; and two sisters, Martha Leavitt and Ethel Wilcox.
Kinsbur was a fisherman for many years and was also employed by Connor’s Bros. in Back Bay. He was an avid birdwatcher and enjoyed meeting new people, as he loved to socialize.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., from where the service was held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Saturday, April 7, 2007 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating.
Interment will be in the Back Bay Cemetery at Leavitt’s Head, at a later date.
Visiting was held at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Grimmer, Bertha Mary
GRIMMER, Bertha Mary – Bertha Mary (Campbell, Parks) Grimmer passed away March 14, 2007, peacefully, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B. Born July 6, 1918, Bertha was the eldest daughter of the late Frank and Berla Campbell.
For all of her 88 years, Bertha lived in Calais, Me. and St. Stephen, N.B. Bertha was active in the community: she was a 25-year member of the I.O.D.E, she proudly served as a Standard Bearer, Secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Life Member of the U.C.W., and member of the Friendship Circle of the Kirk- McColl United Church, an active member in the Saint John Ambulance and Charlotte County Hospital Auxiliary.
Bertha will be dearly missed by her entire family, especially her two daughters, Joyce (Tracy Burns), Stanley, N.B., and Mary Ann (Jack Culliton), Coldbrook, N.S. She is also survived by one son, Douglas (Brenda) Parks, and family; sister, Alice Stacey; special daughter, Joan (Duplissea) Weir, Paso Robles, Calif., special nephew, Raymond (Bud) Parks, St. Stephen, N.B.; and several nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Robert Burns, Sterling Burns, Steven Burns, Stephanie Culliton, Crystal (Culliton) Osadca, Tamela (Parks) McColley and 10 great-grandchildren.
Bertha was predeceased by her first husband, Douglas Parks; brother, John Campbell; sister, Pauline Roy; grandson, Peter Burns; and granddaughter, Lori Parks.
An Honourary Memorial Service and reception will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at the Kirk-McColl United Church, St. Stephen, N.B.

Mallock, Theodore Calvin
MALLOCK, Theodore Calvin – Theodore Calvin Mallock, 84, of Campobello Island, N.B., passed away April 1, 2007 at the Campobello Lodge. Born on Campobello Island, N.B., he was the son of the late Walton and Myrtle (Cook) Malloch.
Theodore was a veteran of the Second World War, where he was wounded in France. Following the war, he took a position on a Fisheries patrol boat stationed in Campobello. He then found his way to Grand Manan Island, where he worked for several years in the fishery at the Connors sardine factory. He later took a position on the Grand Manan ferry, where he worked for many years, and made his home in the village of Seal Cove on Grand Manan Island.
In the autumn of 2005, after 60 years, Theodore moved into the wonderful care of the Campobello Lodge and was joyfully reunited with many of his relatives and childhood friends in his closing years.
He is survived by his two daughters, Charlene Crossman (Jerry), of Moncton, N.B., and Lucille Steeves (Walter), of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; his two sons, Ralph (Winnifred), of Fredericton, N.B., and William (Katherine), of Seal Cove, N.B.; one sister, Delphena Doughty (Loring), of St. George, N.B.; one brother, Royce Malloch (Sheila), Wilson’s Beach, Campobello, N.B.; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Gertrude (Linton) in 1999; one grandson, Darren; one great-grandson, Jason; one sister, Martha Mills; and two brothers, John and Elwood Malloch.
Visiting hours were held at Ells Funeral Home, Tuesday from 7-9 p.m.
The funeral service was held from the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Stuart Steves officiating and Rev. Ward McComiskey assisting.
Internment followed in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Boyd, Robert William
BOYD, Robert William – The death of Robert William Boyd, of St. Stephen, N.B., occurred unexpectedly after a short illness, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on Monday, April 23, 2007. Born in Calais, Me., he was the son of the late William Henry and Marjorie (Scullin) Boyd.
He is survived by his wife, Joan (Robinson) Boyd; three daughters, Brenda Boyd (Reg Wilson), of Moncton, N.B., Sandra Boyd, of Moncton, N.B., and Linda Boyd, of St. Stephen, N.B.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A retired letter carrier, he and Joan travelled extensively. He also enjoyed many hours at Dooly's playing pool with his friends.
A private graveside service will be held at the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery, with Rev. Dr. Garth Williams officiating.

Bass, Helen May
BASS, Helen May – Helen May Bass, 78, of North Head, Grand Manan Island, N.B., passed away at her residence on Tuesday, April 24, 2007. Born in Deep Cove, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Elsie Wilcox.
Helen will be remembered with her soft smile and pleasant outlook on life. She was very active in the Grand Manan Community and was seen at and supported as many community social events as she could with her many friends. Community service was a high priority to her as she served as the chairperson of Rotary Isle Estates; former chairperson of the Grand Manan School Board and former President of the Ladies Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 44. She also served as a board member for the Grand Manan Hospital, Grand Manan Archives, Grand Manan Historical Society, Grand Manan Nursing Home, Grand Manan Museum and Grand Manan Tourism Association; and also the Grand Manan Helping Hands.
Faithful to God and a loving mother, wife and friend, she will be missed by all who were fortunate to know and be a part of her life. Survived by her husband of 57 years, Lester; one daughter, Kimberly Miller (David), of Toronto, Ont.; three sons, Gary Bass (Ruth), of Langley, B.C., Philip Bass (Karen), of Yarmouth, N.S., and Kevin Cormier, of St. George, N.B.; one sister, Mrs. Maude Hunter, of Deep Cove, N.B.; one daughter-in-law, Jocelyn Brown, of Grand Harbour, N.B.; one aunt, Helena Wilcox, of Pennfield, N.B.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
She was predeceased by her brother, Albert.
Visiting hours were held from Ells Funeral Home for the family on Wednesday evening, April 25, and then for the public on Thursday, April 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
The funeral service was held from the Grand Manan Community School on Friday, April 27, 2007 at 3 p.m., with Rev. Charles O’Reagan and Rev. John Hiltz officiating.
Internment followed at Maple Grove Cemetery, Castalia.
The family has requested that donations in memory of Helen may be made to the Grand Manan Historical Society, or Rotary Isle Estates.
