Hazel Wilhelmina Corey

At the Saint John Regional Hospital on March 22 2002, Mrs. Hazel Wilhelmina (Justason) Corey of Pocologan NB., wife of William Corey.
She is survived by her husband; three step daughters; Bessie O'Brien and Maxine Corey of Salisbury NB, and Marie Corey of Ontario; one step son; Rev Wallace Corey and wife Lynn of Saint John NB; one grandson; Wayne Barrett and wife Ailene of L'Etete NB; two great grandchildren; Brooke and Brandon; two sisters; Clara McLean of New River Beach and Louise, Mrs Arthur Gillmor of Bonny River; three brothers; Maurice of Oromocto; Ernest of Pocologan and Murray of Black's Harbour and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Corey was predeceased by her first husband, Stuart Holt; one son Arthur Willis Holt; three brothers; Alvin, Clarence and Lewis; four sisters; Irene, Viola, Amy and Doris.
Mrs. Corey was a loving sister and aunt who enjoyed knitting. She was a member of the Pocologan United Baptist Church, as well as the O.E.S Granite Chapter #15.as well as the Fundy Tide Seniors.
Resting at the St George Funeral Home, 26 Portage st St George NB.The funeral service will be held on Monday at 2PM from the Pennfield United Baptist Church with interment at the Oak Bay Community Cemetery in the spring.
Visiting hours at the funeral home on Saturday 7-9PM and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9PM.
Donations to the United Baptist Churches' of Pocologan and Pennfield and the Fundy Nursing Home or the Donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. An O.E.S. service will be held on Sunday at 7:30PM at the funeral home.(755-3533)

Gaudett, Durward Albert

Durward Albert Gaudett, of Grand Harbour, Grand Manan Island, N.B., passed away in Pembroke, Ont., unexpectedly, while returning home from a visit with his family. He was the son of the late Albert and Mildred (Leighton) Gaudett.
He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Dilcox (William), of Terry Grove, Alta., and Diane Marie Kilbride (Ivan), of Brandon, Man.; one son, Michael (Joanne), of Bonnyville, Alta.; two aunts, Marjorie Linton and Gladys Leighton, both of Grand Harbour, N.B.; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The funeral service took place from Ells Funeral Home on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 12 p.m.
Arrangements are in the care of Ells Funeral Home, 1199 Route 776, Grand Manan, NB E5G 1G2

Rogerson, Grace Jane

Unexpectedly, at her residence in Lord’s Cove, N.B., on June 10, 2007, Mrs. Grace Jane (Johnson) Rogerson, wife of the late David Wesley Rogerson, of Lord’s Cove, N.B. Born in Eastport, Me., on March 17, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Alice (Fountain) Johnson.
A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her daughter, Kathy Young, of Richardson, N.B.; three grandchildren, Brittany Young (Jeremy), of Richardson, N.B., Devon Young (Jessica), of St. George, N.B., and Dustin Young (Manda), of Richardson, N.B.; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Jaiden; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by one sister, Carolyn Annette Johnson.
Grace was employed at Cooke Aquaculture in St. George, N.B. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
By Grace’s request, there will be no visitation.
A graveside service will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery, Deer Island, N.B., on Friday, June 15, 2007 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Conrad Cline and Rev. Glenn Cox officiating.
In Grace’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Kernighan, Doris May

Peacefully, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on June 7, 2007, Mrs. Doris May (Pierce) Kernighan, wife of the late John Samuel Kernighan, of St. George, N.B. Born in Sussex, England, on June 16, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Daisy Pierce.
A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by four sons, John (Barbara) Kernighan, of Fredericton, N.B., David (Sheila) Kernighan, of St. George, N.B., Gary (Dawn) Kernighan and Michael (Karen) Kernighan, both of Blacks Harbour, N.B.; four daughters, Pearl Ann (William) Haley, of St. Stephen, N.B., Ethel (Robert) Smith, of Saint John, N.B., Sharon (Kenneth) Montgomery, of St. Stephen, N.B., and Heather (Dwayne) Hooper, of Blacks Harbour, N.B.; 17 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Doris was predeceased by her husband, John; one daughter, Carol; one son, Kevin; one grandson, Jason; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Montgomery; three sisters and one brother.
Doris served in the Land Army in England during the Second World War, and came to Canada in 1946 as a war bride. She was an avid dart player and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 40 in St. George, as well as a member of the Eastern Charlotte Lions Club. She loved her grandchildren, and knitting and gardening.
By Doris’ request, there will be no visitation held.
A memorial service was held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel, St. George, N.B., on Sunday, June 10, 2007 at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Jack Willet officiating.
A reception followed at the Royal Canadian Legion in St. George.
Donations to the Charlotte County local food banks or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Farnham, Gartley Hiltz

At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on June 8, 2007, Gartley Hiltz Farnham, of St. Stephen, N.B.; husband of the late Frances May (Thompson) Farnham.
Survived by his daughters, Joyce Malloy, of St. Stephen, N.B., Linda Moholland (Mike), of Robbinston, Me., Nancy Maye (Doug), of Lorton, Va., Rhonda MacDonald (Steve), of St. Stephen, N.B., and Susan Walker (Eddie Thibault), of St. Stephen, N.B.; six grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; one sister, Olive Jones, of Petitcodiac, N.B.; nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his wife, two grandsons, one brother and two sisters.
Funeral service was held Monday, June 11, 2007 at 11 a.m., from The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main St., St. Stephen, N.B.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 11.
For those who wish, memorials to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Christie, Frances Hilda

At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on June 9, 2007, Mrs. Frances Hilda (Libby) Christie, wife of the late Frederick L. Christie, of Oak Hill, N.B.; daughter of the late Bernard and Hilda (Getchell) Libby.
Survived by four sons, Philip (Betty), of Lynnfield, N.B., Gerald (Joanne), and Peter (Joan), of Oak Hill, N.B., and Richard (Joe) (Jeannie), of Fredericton, N.B.; eight grandchildren, two great- grandchildren, two sisters, one aunt, nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by one infant daughter.
Rested at The S.O.Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main St., St. Stephen, from where funeral service was held Monday, June 11, 2007 at 2 p.m.
Visiting was held at the funeral home on Sunday, June 10,
Interment at the Moores Mills Cemetery, Moores Mills, N.B.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Smythe, Norman Williard

Norman Williard Smythe, of Halifax, N.S., formerly of St. Stephen, N.B., died on June 7, 2007 at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Halifax, N.S. He was born May 28, 1955 the son of the late Hazen W. and W. Irene (Beckerton) Smythe.
He was born and raised in St. Stephen, N.B. and graduated from St. Stephen High School in 1973, attended the University of New Brunswick (1973-74) and Holland College, Charlottetown, PEI (1976-77). He was a car salesman in St. Stephen (1973-75); a property assessor with the Province of New Brunswick in Moncton (1977-78); a Customs Inspector with Revenue Canada in McAdam, N.B. (1979-80).
In 1980, he moved to Halifax, N.S. where, prior to his illness, he was employed as a Senior Property Agent with the Federal Department of Public Works. He enjoyed spending time with his friends in Halifax and at his camp on the Magaguadavic River, Brockway, N.B.
He is survived by four sisters: Marilyn (Sandy) Clarke, Marina del Rey, Cal., Margo (Carl) Scribner, Fort Meyers, Fla.; Frances (Don) Flanagan, Peterborough, Ont., Mary Jane (John) Ferguson, Cornwall, Ont.; four brothers, Robert (Debbie) Smythe, St. Stephen, N.B., David (Georgette) Smythe, Riverview, N.B., Gerry (Carla) Smythe, St. Stephen, N.B. and Ross (Jenona) Smythe, Fredericton, N.B.; various nieces and nephews, and by his aunt, Sarah McLaren, Petitcodiac, N.B. He will be missed by his many friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Hazel Irene, and a brother, William Edward, who both died in their infancy.
His body has been donated for medical education and research. A memorial service was held in Halifax, N.S. on Sunday, June 10, 2007. A further memorial will be held in St. Stephen, N.B. at a later date.
Donations in Norm’s memory may be made to the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation and to the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre Foundation (QE II Foundation) or to any charity of the donor’s choice.

Haley, Mary Madeline

It’s with great sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Mary Madeline (Guitar) Haley, of St. Stephen, N.B., which occurred on June 11, 2007 by accident; widow of the late William Haley. Born in Jacquet River, N.B., on Nov. 30, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Irvin and Mary Ann Guitar.
She is survived by two sons, Doug (Pam) and Larry (Kelly); one daughter, Bobbie Joe Doyle (Tim); companion, Cyril Doyle; six grandsons, Justin, Kyle, Ryan, Christopher, Randall and Caleb; one granddaughter, Siera; and one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth; four brothers, two sisters, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Brian Haley.
Rested at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., from where funeral service was held on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 2 p.m.
Interment at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations the Canadian Cancer Society, Cystic Fibrosis, IWK or charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.

Cooke, Marguerite Mae

Peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on June 15, 2007, Mrs. Marguerite Mae (Wilcox) Cooke, wife of Mr. Glendon Cooke, of Utopia, N.B. Born in Pennfield, N.B., on Aug. 23, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Edith (Trynor) Wilcox.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her husband, Glendon; two sons, Glendon and Gerry Cooke, both of Utopia, N.B.; three daughters, Donna (William) Barrio, of L’Etang, N.B., Lisa (Tim) Carr, of Sydney, N.S., and Sheryl Tucker (David), of Rothesay, N.B.; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sheldon (Audrey) Wilcox and Ellsworth (Alice) Wilcox, both of Pennfield, N.B.; one sister, Joyce (Courtney) Evans, of Saint John, N.B.; several sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by one brother, Lawrence Wilcox.
Marguerite loved wildlife and being surrounded by animals. She loved the outdoors and especially spending time with her family. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of St. George.
Marguerite rested at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., with visiting on Saturday and Sunday.
The service was held from the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Main Street, St. George, on Monday, June 18, 2007 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Ken Corkum and Rev. Ron Henderson officiating.
Interment was at the St. George Rural Cemetery.
In Marguerite’s memory, donations to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, The NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
