Eldridge, Harold Spencer
Family and friends gathered at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home in St. Stephen, N.B., for a memorial service for Harold Eldridge on May 3, 2007. Rev. McKeen led the service with prayer, followed by a lovely devotional and tribute to Harold.
Harold passed away peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on May 1, 2007. Born in Beaver Harbour on Sept. 21, 1926, he was the son of loving parents, Spencer and Florence Eldridge.
He was predeceased by his brother, Millen, and survived by his sisters, Frances Eldridge and Jean Carrier (Wayne), brother, Gordon Eldridge, and several nieces and nephews.
Harold was a trucker and a great one at that. He owned his own rig in Ontario and spent most of his time on the road. His kindness and generosity to those he worked with and met was always apparent. He moved back home in 1972 and continued driving a truck, this time for Connors Bros. of Blacks Harbour. Harold retired in Beaver Harbour in 1985.
He spent his last years living in the St. Stephen Seniors Home at Old Ridge, N.B., where he was treated with much care and respect. Harold loved his family of nieces and nephews and all their little children as they came along. He also loved and respected animals and was never without a dog in his home.
We value family as did Harold’s parents and our grandparents, and ask God that He keep Harold in His Hands and that he may now rest in peace.
"In family we are a circle of sections, each held together by love and loyalty, but separable to be who we are and loved for our differences. We call it unconditional love."
– The Eldridge family.
