Nodding, Clifford Eugene
Unexpectedly, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., following a tragic accident at sea, Mr. Clifford Eugene Nodding, husband of Mrs. Lorena Gail (Keating) Nodding, of Beaver Harbour, N.B. Born in Blacks Harbour, N.B., on Nov. 28, 1952, he was a son of Doris Muriel (Dickson) Nodding and the late Byron Nodding.
A loving husband, father, son and brother, he is survived by his wife, Lorena; two sons, Mark (Tanya) Crocker, of Tiberton, N.S., and Nicholas Nodding, of Beaver Harbour, N.B.; one daughter, Jacalyn Nodding, of Beaver Harbour, N.B.; his mother, Doris Nodding, of Beaver Harbour, N.B.; two brothers, Stephen and Mark Nodding (Mary Ann), all of Beaver Harbour, N.B.; two sisters, Joan (Fidele) Marceau, of Blacks Harbour, N.B., and Ora McCarthy (Emile Belliveau), of Beaver Harbour, N.B.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Cliffy was a self-employed fisherman and a people person who enjoyed sitting at "Tims" and talking to all those who stopped by. He also was a devoted family man and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Freeport, N.S. Cliffy was a well-known and well-loved resident of Beaver Harbour and will be greatly missed by the community.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., with visiting on Wednesday.
The funeral service was held on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 from the Calvary Baptist Church in Blacks Harbour at 2 p.m.
Interment followed at the Beaver Harbour Community Cemetery.
In Cliffy’s memory, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
Wright, Russell Roy Hazen
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Nov. 11, 2007, Russell Roy Hazen Wright, of Scotch Ridge, N.B.
Survived by three sons, Kevin (Carey), St. Thomas, Ont., Chris (Lisa), St. Stephen, N.B., and Dwayne (Joyce), St. Stephen, N.B.; companion, Dorothy Fairweather; grandchildren, Sarah, Nicholas, Jacob, Regan, Alexander, Stephanie, Jessica, Elijah, and Abigail; brother, Arnold Wright, Nova Scotia; sister, Irene Irving (Ernie) Salisbury, N.B.; several nieces and nephews. Also survived by Dorothy’s daughter, Deanna Fairweather, and her daughters, Jody and Alexa, and Dorothy’s son, David.
Rested at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., from where funeral service was held on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 at 2 p.m.
Visiting hours were held at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Following services in St. Stephen, visitation will be held at the Truth Tabernacle Church, 50 Lonsdale Drive, Moncton, N.B., on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 from 12 to 1 p.m., followed by interment at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens, Salisbury Road, Salisbury, N.B., on Friday at 2 p.m.
Peterson, Clinton H.
June 28, 1921 - Nov. 10, 2007 – Clinton H. Peterson, of Tracy, N.B., beloved husband to Marjorie (Mellor) for 65 years, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, N.B., with his family at his side.
Father to five children, Betty, Stephen, Leonard (Karen), Shirley (Mark) and youngest, Sylvia (Jeffrey). He will be missed by his 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Clinton is also survived by his brother, Leonard (Mable) Peterson, and a sister, Ruth Sherrard.
He was predeceased by his parents, Stephen Peterson and Shirley (Frye); stepmother, Hazel McKay; and a sister, Evelyn Walker.
Clinton was a decorated World War II veteran who landed and fought on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. After weeks of heavy fighting, he was seriously wounded at the battle of Grodingen in Holland, and almost lost his life. He met the love of his life, Marjorie, and made her his English war bride.
Clinton worked as a plumber/
pipefitter most of his life and was also a Mason. Clinton enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed traveling with Marjorie. Clinton always said, “Family comes first.”
Funeral service was held from Sunbury Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007 at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Leo Porter officiating.
Interment followed in the Gladstone Cemetery.

Daggett, William Dwight
William (Bill) Dwight Daggett (Dec. 13, 1944 – Nov. 15, 2007) passed through the valley of the shadow of death into the light and peace of His Lord, whom he loved, on Nov. 15, 2007 with his family by his side. He was the fourth son of William Earle Daggett (predeceased on June 2, 1970) and Della (nee Huntley) Daggett Keating.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda (nee Taylor), and daughter, Anzonette (Blaine) Brown, and grandsons, Mitchell and Jaden. He will be sorely missed by his mother and older brothers, Russell (Ida), Claude (Helen), Layne (Helena); and younger sister, Bonnie (Allen) Benson; his brother-in-law, Dwight Taylor (Charmaine); and all his nieces and nephews.
Bill and Linda were married in Grand Harbour Baptist Church on Aug. 21, 1965 and have been devoted to their daughter and proud of their grandsons.
Bill was a lifetime resident of Grand Manan, N.B., where he was well liked, admired and respected. His good humour, quick wit and gifted storytelling left warm and indelible impressions. Finally, in 2004 and 2007, Bill’s unwavering devotion to the Red Sox reaped overdue results!
He graduated from GMHS in 1962. He graduated as elected valedictorian from the Maritime Forest Ranger School at Fredericton in 1972. He worked in his younger years in the fishing industry and became captain of the Michael and Eileen with his Dad as mate. He managed the Anchorage Provincial Park, which was the original birth site of his paternal great-grandfather, from 1972 to 2001.
Bill was politically attuned and astute and he served with distinction his beloved island community for almost 12 years serving as councillor, deputy mayor and as mayor.
Over the course of many years, he worked hard at improving ferry service for the island residents. He expanded and supervised the rockweed industry for Acadia Seaplants Ltd., which provided employment for island residents and Newfoundland workers whom he loved and appreciated. He also represented the Island at the Business Development Cooperation for over a decade.
Upon his profession of faith, Bill was baptized in the Seal Cove Baptist Church, and subsequently became an active member in the Grand Harbour Baptist Church. His faith in his loving Lord sustained him in his hours of need and he carefully and prayerfully reached out to his many friends even during his illness. His spiritual life was enriched by his many Christian friends and pastors and comforted by the television programs featuring The Gaithers, Souls’ Harbor, and Dr. Jeremiah.
Because of the kind supportive attention they received and on behalf of Bill, his family wish to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Grand Manan and Saint John Regional hospitals, the air and land ambulance services, doctors Burnell, Dapena and Loree Boyle, and the crew of the Grand Manan ferries.
Visiting hours were held at Ells Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 17.
The funeral service was held on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007 at 1:30 p.m., from the Grand Harbour Baptist Church, with Rev. Gordon Walker officiating, assisted by Rev. Ron Ford, and Rev. Layne Daggett.
Interment followed at the Hillside Cemetery in Seal Cove.
Bill’s family has requested memorials be made to the Grand Harbour Baptist Church, The Gideons, The Cancer Society, Vancouver Airport Chaplaincy or a charity of your choice.

At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, N.B. on Nov. 16, 2007, Otty William Cairns, of St. Croix, N.B.; son of Elra Mae (Wilson) Cairns and the late Borden Cairns.
Survived by his wife, Ann Marie (Fall); one son, Trevor Cairns (Erica), of Lake George, N.B.; one daughter, Tracey Pilley (Craig), of Brampton, Ont.; three grandchildren, Mikayla and Wyatt Cairns, and Kate Pilley; his mother; three sisters, Ella Acheson, of St. Stephen, N.B., Erla Jensen (Earl), of Red Beach, Me., and Carol Cairns, Whitehorse, Yukon; one brother, James Cairns (Lila), of Moores Mills, N.B.; and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his son, Todd, and special brother-in-law, Anson Acheson.
There will be no visitation by request.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007 at 11 a.m., from St. Georges Anglican Church, McAdam, N.B.
Interment at the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery.

At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Nov. 16, 2007, Marguerite Harriet (Linda) Babcock, widow of the late Norman E. Babcock of Milltown-St. Stephen, N.B. Daughter of the late John J. and Mary M. (McDonald) Clair.
Linda was a loving mother to son, Hal and his wife, Barbara, of Fredericton, N.B., loving grandmother of Aaron (Stephanie) Babcock, of Dartmouth, N.S., Jeremy (Lindsay) and Andrew Babcock, of Fredericton, N.B., great-grandmother to Emily, Jacob, Noah and Avelyn Babcock; loving sister to Eileen McCann (Alan), Summerside, P.E.I., and Frederick Clair (Connie) Charlottetown, P.E.I.; a special niece, Joanne MacCready (John) of St. Stephen, N.B.; and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by four brothers, Thomas, Malcolm, Earl and Bruce Clair; infant brother, Grant; two sisters, Anna McKeeman and Helen Doherty.
Linda was the first female town Councillor for St. Stephen, N.B., and the former Milltown, N.B.
She was active in the Catholic Women’s League and St. Stephen Housing Co-op, from its inception. Also active in the Charlotte County Liberal Party.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated from St. Stephens’ Roman Catholic Church, Milltown Blvd., St. Stephen, N.B. on Monday, Nov. 19, 2007 at 10 a.m., with Rev. Bill Weiss officiating.
Visiting was held at The S.O. Mehan and Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007.
Interment at the Milltown Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. Stephen, N.B.
