Olsansky, Stanley C.
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008; Stanley Clement Olsansky, husband of Marie (Gale) Olsansky, of St. Stephen, N.B.
Born in Czechoslovakia, he worked as a machinist in different industries throughout New Brunswick and Ontario. Returning back to the Maritimes, he worked for himself in the taxidermy industry as the owner and proprietor of Valley Road Taxidermy.
Stan was also a member of the St. Croix Flying Club, and being a true outdoorsman, he had a great love for fishing and hunting.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Marie, are his daughters, Linda, Judy and Kimberley; brother, John, of Ontario; two sisters, Emma, of Ontario and Mary, of Florida; grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one brother, Adolph.
By Stan’s request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home.
A memorial mass in Stan’s memory will be said at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, Milltown, N.B., at 9 a.m., on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008.
In lieu of flowers. donations to the NB Wildlife Association or to the Charlotte County SPCA would be appreciated by the family.

Murphy, Theodore (Ted)
Theodore (Ted) Murphy of New Zion, N.B., passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 9, 2008.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Georgina; four sons, Eric (Janet), Dennis (Mary), Terry (Carol), and Larry (Deb); two daughters, Charlotte Betts (Robert), and Melody Brewer (Clark); 10 grandchildren, one great-grandson, stepgrandchildren, step-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Helen Babineau, June Coakley (Charlie), Beatrice Fox and Jean Crawford; three brothers, Douglas, Donnie (Muriel), and Jerry (Eileen); two sisters-in-law, Vivian Richardson and Gladys Bently (Roy); many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Laura (MacDonald) Murphy, and brother, Robert.
Born in East Chipman, N.B., in 1932, he came to New Zion in 1948 and worked for King Mining Company and Avon Coal Company. Later he worked with Rusco Windows and Doors of Fredericton. He and partner, Bill White, formed Underwater Services Ltd., and worked scuba diving on such projects as Mactaquac Dam and Mispec Deep Water Terminal, and exploration work on Sable Island. In 1967, he established Deco Steps and Railings Ltd., in New Zion and Maritime Industries Ltd. He was also president of Central Well Drilling Company Ltd.
He was a 25-year volunteer of Minto Fire Department, a member of the NB Coal Board, and an executive of Sunbury Co. PC Association for a number of years.
Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling, remote control airplane flying and his cottage at Grand Lake. He was a member of the Christian Community Church. For 10 years following his retirement, he and Georgina spent the winters in Daytona Beach.
He built his own nature pond in the back field where he spent many enjoyable hours with his geese, ducks, beavers and turtles. The last few years he enjoyed his many evenings spent with his children and grandchildren playing board games. Besides his family, he leaves a host of friends.
Rested at the Minto Funeral Home with visiting on Friday, Jan. 11.
Service was held Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008 at 2 p.m., at the Christian Community Church, 819 Pleasant Drive, Minto, with Pastor Kris Austin officiating.
A reception followed the service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cemetery Fund of the Christian Community Church.
Emery, Robert Malcolm
At Campobello Lodge, Campobello, N.B., on Dec. 25, 2007, Robert Malcolm Emery, of Waweig, N.B.; son of the late Howard A. and Beulah G. (McGeachy) Emery.
Survived by half-brother, Addison Emery (Lydia), of St. George, N.B.; one sister, Carol Anderson (George), Waweig, N.B.; one brother, Austin Emery, Saint John, N.B.; several nieces and nephews.
Rested at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., from where funeral service was held on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007 at 11 a.m.
Interment at Waweig United Church Cemetery, Waweig, N.B.
McPherson, Merle
The funeral service for Mrs. Merle McPherson was held from the Fundy Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan, 12, 2008 with the Rev. Dr. Ron Vincent officiating. The soloist was Sherry Beney and the organist was Colleen Beesley. The eulogy was given by Merle’s youngest sister, Lillian Justason, and friend, Terry Mullin. Pallbearers were Terence MacAndrew, Timothy MacAndrew, Melvin Beney, Tony Munn, John Justason and Adam Justason.
Memorial donations in memory of Merle were made to Romero House Soup Kitchen, including those from the Board & Staff of Saint John Harbour Bridge; Canadian Cancer Society, including one from the Sorority Sisters of Laureate Eta Beta Sigma Phi; The Salvation Army, including one from "The Card Group"; The Children’s Wish Foundation, including one from Gondola Point Grocery.
Donations were made by family and friends to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer’s Society of New Brunswick, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Maces Bay Cemetery, Saint John High School Centennial Scholarship Fund "The Mark Rankin Memorial Award", Saint John School Milk Fund, Lorneville United Church, Fernhill Cemetery Special Care Fund for the Perpetual Care, The Cathedral Fund, New Brunswick Breast Cancer Network, and the Kidney Foundation.
Beautiful floral arrangements were received from family and friends.
Interment took place in Fernhill Cemetery.
Following the interment, a reception was held at the Fundy Funeral Home, where family and friends gathered.
French, Phillip Lawson
Phillip Lawson French, 60, of Seal Cove, Grand Manan, N.B., passed away at the Grand Manan Nursing Home on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, after a lengthy illness. Born in Mount Washington, Oregon, he was the son of Mrs. Muriel Louise Locke of North Head, Grand Manan Island.
He is survived by his mother; four sisters, Shirley Brown (Paul), of North Head, N.B., Mary Flagg (Sandy), Cathy Linton and Heather Lahey, all of Castalia, N.B.; two brothers, Maynard Locke (Linda), and Allen Locke (Marilyn), both of Grand Harbour, N.B.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his step-father Gordon Locke (1969), and both his grandparents, Clayton and Geneva French.
During his high school years, he was a very active member of the Grand Manan Royal Canadian Army Auxiliary Corp., and he worked for several years (prior to failing health) for Connor Bros. at the Seal Cove plant as a picker on the quality control processing line.
Visiting was held from Ells Funeral Home on Saturday.
The funeral service was held from the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Ward McComiskey officiating.
Interment was held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Castalia, N.B.

Nichols, William George Allen
At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, N.B., on Jan. 23, 2008, William George Allen Nichols, of McAdam, N.B., passed away. He was the son of the late Frank and Rita (McLellan) Nichols, and husband of Jeannine (McGee) Nichols.
Survived by his wife; one son, Derek, of Fredericton, N.B.; one daughter, Penny Hornby (Richard), of London, Ont.; grandchildren, Justin and Ashley; two sisters, Dorothy Terry and Judy Butler, of Nova Scotia; several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation or service at this time by request.
There will be a graveside service at Rockland Cemetery in the spring.

At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Dec. 22, 2007, Elsie Lorinda Gass, widow of Hardy Gass, of Rollingdam, N.B.; daughter of the late Harry C. and Novella G. (Scott) McLaughlin.
Survived by two sisters, Verna Townes (Orville), Lawrence Station, N.B., and Pauline Townes (Wallace), St. Stephen, N.B.; several nieces and nephews.
Rested at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., from where funeral service was held on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007 at 2 p.m.
Interment at Rollingdam Baptist Cemetery, Rollingdam, N.B.

Needler, Nina Mae
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Jan. 24, 2008, Mrs. Nina Mae Needler of St. Andrews, N.B., passed away. She was the daughter of the late Martin Luther and Mabel Claire (Smith) Parker, and wife of the late Alfred Walker Hollinshead Needler.
Survived by one daughter, Joan Claire Baker (Max), of Toronto, Ont.; two sons, John Duncan Needler (Karen), of Westford, Vt., and David Henry Needler (Cindy), of Chamcook, N.B.; two stepdaughters, Mary Arai, of Nanaimo, B.C., and Edith Hesson, of Edmonton, Alta.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her stepson, George Needler.
No visitation was held by request.

Barry, Otis Taylor
Otis Taylor Barry, 81, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007 at an Orono, Me., health care facility. He was born May 28, 1926, in St. George, N.B., son of Stephen Otis, and Georgia (Hatt) Barry Drost.
Otis was educated in New Brunswick schools. After moving to Maine as a young man, he worked for many years at H.E. Sargent Co. For a few years after his retirement, he cut firewood.
He is survived by his wife, Prudence Corey-Barry, of Alton, Me.; one daughter, Patricia Armitage, of Old Town, Me.; one granddaughter, Brandie Armitage; two great-granddaughters, Kyra Armitage and Star Wickett, all of Old Town, Me.; one sister, Frances Anthony, of Pennfield, N.B.; one brother, Vance Barry, of Mapleridge, B.C.; as well as many nieces.
Otis was predeceased by his first wife, Lois M. Barry; and a sister, Gertrude.
Visitation was held on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main Street, Old Town, Me.
A spring graveside service will be held at Alton Cemetery, Alton, Me.
