Kojic, Milic (Mike)
At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on Jan. 24, 2008, Milic (Mike) Kojic passed away. He was the son of Zivota and Katarina Kojic, and the husband of the late Carole Marie Roberts.
Survived by one daughter, Cathy Kojic Odovic, of Toronto, Ont.; one son, Duke Kojic, of Serbia, Ukslovia; two sisters, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008 at 7 p.m.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, remembrance to the Heart and Stroke Fund or Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
McDowell, Dorothy
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Dorothy “Dot” McDowell, which occurred on Friday, Dec. 28, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B. Dorothy (McLean) McDowell, wife of the late James McDowell, was born in St. Stephen, N.B., on Dec. 5, 1934.
She is survived by her six children: James McDowell (Michele), Linda Smith, Phillip McDowell (Barb Layton), Michael McDowell, Susan Hovey (Carl) and Barb Tucker (Roger); one brother, Philip McLean; nine grandchildren; several great- grandchildren; two nieces and six nephews.
By Dot’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
A graveside service will be held later in the spring at the Oak Bay Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the SPCA or charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

d’Entremont, Margaret M.
Margaret M. d’Entremont, 68, of Seal Cove, Grand Manan Island, N.B., passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2008 at the Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews, N.B. Born in Yarmouth, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Eugenie d’Entremont.
In her early years, Margaret worked at the Algonquin Hotel and later, at Laura Secord in Toronto. When she moved to Grand Manan in the early 1970’s, she settled in to island life, participating in as many social events as she could and had gained many friends through the years.
She is survived by two sons, Rickey Harvey, of Grand Harbour, N.B., and Robert d’Entremont, of Meteghan, N.S.; also her sister, Anna (Edward) Taylor, of Saulnierville, N.S.
She was predeceased, in October, by her friend and companion of many years, Burton Daggett.
Visiting hours took place at the Seal Cove Baptist Church on Wednesday.
The funeral service was held from the church on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008 at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Ron Ford officiating and Rev. Peter Smith assisting.
Interment will take place at the Hillside Cemetery in the spring.

Justason, Ernest William
Peacefully, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Dec. 18, 2007, Mr. Ernest William Justason, husband of the late Agnes (Lloyd) Justason, of Pocologan, N.B. Born in Pennfield, N.B., on March 11, 1925, he was a son of the late Charles and Ethel (Wilcox) Justason.
A loving father, grandfather, great- grandfather and brother, Ernie is survived by one daughter, Joyce (Mike) MacQuarrie, of Pennfield, N.B.; four sons, Doug (Lorriane), Eugene, Randy (Heather), and Kevin Justason, all of Pocologan, N.B.; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Murray Justason, of Sussex, N.B.; two sisters, Clara McLean, of New River, N.B., and Louise (Art) Gillmor, of St. George, N.B.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by two sons, Allison Justason and John Lloyd; sisters, Irene Matheson, Viola Justason, Hazel Corey, Amy Maxwell and Doris Williams; and brothers, Maurice, Alvin, Lewis and Clarence Justason.
Prior to his retirement, Ernie worked as a security officer at the Pennfield Sawmill as well as being a self-employed fisherman. He also worked, in his early years, at Connors Bros. in Blacks Harbour. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing on the salt water. Ernie was a handyman who enjoyed working on engines and when he was able, snowmobiling was a favourite pastime. As a young man, Ernie enlisted to serve his country in the Army Reserve.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., from where the service was held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007 at 2 p.m., with Fr. John Ighacho officiating.
Visiting was held at the funeral home on Thursday.
Interment will take place at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring.
Daniels, Jeffrey
Jeffrey Daniels, born in 1930 in Horwich, England, died suddenly at home on Dec. 25, 2007. He died while doing what was very important to him, caring for his beloved wife, Margaret.
Jeff married Margaret, his teenage sweetheart, and emigrated to Canada in 1954.
Before retirement, he worked at Lake Utopia Paper as a mechanical draftsman and engineer. Most important to him was the spreading of the good news of God’s Kingdom and sharing with others God’s promise of the resurrection of the dead to a paradise earth to be reunited with loved ones.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Margaret; his sister, Stella and her family; his son, Steven and his wife, Delia; and his daughter, Lesley.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 at 2 p.m., in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 9161 Route 3, Old Ridge, St. Stephen, N.B.

McLanaghan, James Eugene
Peacefully, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on Jan. 22, 2008, James Eugene McLanaghan, husband of Bessie (Justason) McLanaghan, of Pennfield, N.B.; born in St. George, N.B., on Sept. 13, 1920, he was a son of the late Samuel and Carolyn (Gillis) McLanaghan.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by his wife, Bessie; two sons, Eugene (Lois) McLanaghan, of Pennfield, N.B., and Norman McLanaghan, of Kingston, Ont.; one granddaughter, Alison McLanaghan, of Calgary, Alta.; one sister, Rhonda Justason, of St. Andrews, N.B.; one daughter-in- law, Deborah Larson, of Pocologan, N.B.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Fred McLanaghan, and one sister, Helen Gaudet.
Prior to his retirement, Jim was employed by the NB Department of Transportation for 18 years; and prior to that, worked a number of years for St. George Pulp and Paper. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to travel after he retired.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the R.C.E.M.E. Corps in England, France, Belgium and Holland. Jim was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 40 in St. George, as well as a member and past patron of the OES Granite Chapter No. 15 and past master and member of the St. George Masonic Lodge No. 12 F&AM; for over 50 years.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 40 held a tribute service on Wednesday at 7 p.m., and the St. George Masonic Lodge and OES held their respective tribute services at 7 and 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
The service was held at Pennfield Baptist Church, Pennfield, N.B., on Friday, Jan. 25, 2008 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Grant Alcorn officiating.
The interment will be held at the St. George Rural Cemetery in the spring.
In Jim’s memory, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
Hooper, Albert Doran
Unexpectedly, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on Dec. 31, 2007, Mr. Albert Doran Hooper, husband of Mrs. Mildred Gertrude (Miner) Hooper, of Pennfield, N.B. Born in Blacks Harbour, N.B., on Jan. 7, 1931, he was a son of the late Emery and Della (Hanley) Hooper.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by his wife, Mildred; one son, Robert Doran (Anne Grace) Hooper, of Little Ridge, N.B.; four daughters, Dorothy (Roland) Wilcox, of Bocabec, N.B., Deborah Larson (Guy), of Pocologan, N.B., Marilyn (Ray) Lewis, of Blacks Harbour, N.B., and Shirley (Wayne) Waite, of Pennfield, N.B.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four brothers, Harold (Jean) Hooper, of Utopia, N.B., Edward Hooper, of Winchester, Ont., Joe (Barb) Hooper, of Sussex, N.B., and Richard (Lorraine) Hooper, of Pennfield, N.B.; two sisters, Audrey McLeese (Vance), of Winchester, Ont., and Thelma Scott (Carl), of Toronto, Ont.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Caitlin Lewis, and two brothers, Clyde and Carroll Hooper.
Albert began working in Ontario at Pilkington Glass and with the Toronto Transit Commission prior to moving home to Pennfield, where he began work as a school bus driver for 17 years, retiring in 1991. Following his retirement, Albert enjoyed being a handyman and operating his snow removal business. He was a hard worker who loved bowling and hunting, and was a great outdoorsman. In his quiet times he enjoyed working on his truck and travelling to Calais, Me., for his weekly trips.
In the mornings, he could be found with the "morning club" at Hooper’s Convenience in Blacks Harbour, discussing the daily news and world events.
Resting at the Wesleyan Church in Blacks Harbour, from where the service will be held on Friday, Jan. 4, 2008 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Bruce Cheney and Pastor Gordon Cooke officiating.
Interment will be held at the St. George Rural Cemetery at a later date.
Visiting at the church on Thursday from 7-9 p.m.

Sampson, George Winston (Fudgie)
The death of George Winston (Fudgie) Sampson occurred on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, N.B.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia (LeVasseur) Sampson; three sons, three daughters, three sisters, one brother, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters and great-granddaughter.
A Legion tribute and memorial service will occur at a later date.

Babcock, Phyllis Leona
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Thursday, Dec., 27, 2007; Phyllis Leona (Matthews) Babcock; wife of the late Arthur Babcock, of Wilson’s Beach, Campobello, N.B. Born at Wilson’s Beach, N.B., she is the daughter of the late Clarence and Aggie (Dow) Matthews.
Phyllis was a member of Wilson’s Beach United Baptist Church. Phyllis and her late husband operated the Ponderosa Motel and Restaurant for many years, well known as a favourite landmark. She also worked at the Roosevelt International Park Commission. She enjoyed hobbies such as quilting.
She is survived by her son, Roger, of Wilson’s Beach, N.B.; three sisters, Lorene Barteau, of Deer Island, N.B., Della Matthews (Lester), of Wilson’s Beach, N.B., and Jewel Calder, of Welshpool, N.B.; two brothers, Burris Matthews (Norma), and Ivan Matthews (Pat), all of Wilson’s Beach, N.B.; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Alice; and brother-in-law, Maxwell Calder.
She was predeceased by brother, Medford; sisters, Royis Calder and Elizabeth Jackson; brothers-in-law, Robert Jackson, Reginald Calder, and Arthur Barteau.
Rested at Wilson’s Beach United Baptist Church, Campobello, N.B., from where the service was held on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 at 2 p.m. Rev. Robert Weaver officiated. Eulogy was given by Gary Matthews. The church choir was in attendance, accompanied by Judy Alexander. A special tribute of music was provided by Susan McFeat and Terri Lynne Brown, accompanied by Judy Alexander.
Active pallbearers were Cleveland Jackson, Brent Calder, Gary Matthews, Jonathan Tinker, Medford Fitzgerald and Lorne Ray Lahey.
A reception was held in the church hall immediately following the service.
Interment will take place in Old Wilson’s Beach Cemetery later in the spring.
