Sullivan, S. Margaret

In her 92nd year, and 66th year of marriage, Margaret, wife of Edward V. Sullivan, of Ottawa, ON, and mother of E. Vincent Sullivan, of Saanich, B.C. A loving and much-loved wonderful person. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Louise MacKnight, of St. Stephen, N.B.
She is survived by her brother, and several MacKnight nieces and nephews.
We will love and remember her fondly.
Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa, ON, on Thursday, January 31, 2008 from 12 noon until the time of the service in the Chapel at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to
the Osteoporosis Society, Ottawa Chapter, 411 Roosevelt Avenue, Suite 306, Ottawa, ON K2A 3X9, would be appreciated.

Hachey, Gilles Joseph

Gilles Joseph Hachey passed away on Dec. 31, 2007 at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B. Born Sept. 21, 1960 in Robertsville, N.B., he was a son of the late Nicholas and Marie-Rose (Vienneau) Hachey.
He is survived by his common-law wife, Natalie Olsen; two sons, Virgil and Joseph Hachey; three sisters; seven brothers; several nieces and nephews.
Gilles was predeceased by his father, mother, five sisters and five brothers.
No visitation will be held by request
A memorial service will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., on Monday, Jan. 7, 2008 at 11 a.m.
Interment at Rollingdam Baptist Cemetery, Rollingdam, N.B., in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Cancer Society or charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Justason, Maynard Eugene –

Peacefully, at his residence on Jan. 24, 2008, Mr. Maynard Eugene Justason, of Canal, N.B.; beloved husband of Gail (Waite) Justason. He was born in Blacks Harbour, N.B., on May 11, 1938, the son of the late Emery and Margaret (Leavitt) Justason.
He attended school in Blacks Harbour and in his early years was employed by Connors Brothers at their retail store. In later years, he became self employed and operated several businesses at Pennfield Corner, which included a grocery store, furniture store, pool hall, as well as a recycling depot. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and also was a former member of both the Brunswick and St. George curling clubs.
In addition to his wife, Gail, he is also survived by two sons, Bill (Tracy) Justason, of Blaine, Wash., and Brad Justason (Nathalie Page), of St. George, N.B.; one daughter, Sari Justason (Jeff Stewart), of Pennfield, N.B.; two grandchildren, Taylor and Cassidy Justason; two sisters, Pauline (late Bernard) Tucker, of Saint John, N.B., and Carolyn (Ken) Hooper, of Blacks Harbour, N.B.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., from where the service was held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Keith Osborne and Canon David Genge officiating.
Interment in Christ Church (Anglican) Cemetery in the spring.
Visiting was held at the funeral home on Saturday.
A special thank you to Dr. John Mowatt and staff of the SJRH and sister Carolyn Hooper and her husband Ken for their care and dedication during Maynard’s illness.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

McLaughlin, Mary Elizabeth

Mary Elizabeth McLaughlin passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Jan. 1, 2008. She was born in Honeydale, N.B., on May 24, 1927; the eldest daughter of the late Ellen Bessie Morrow and the late Thomas Johnson, of Honeydale, N.B.
She was married to the late Russell Elward McLaughlin on March 2, 1944. She was predeceased by her husband; her parents; son, Phillip McLaughlin; and great-grandson, Cory Libby.
Survived by three daughters, Phyllis McLaughlin, of Lawrence Station, N.B., Edith Sewell (Bernard), of Waweig, N.B., and Ellen Foster (Johnny) of Bocabec, N.B.; one son, Leo McLaughlin (Beatrice), of Lawrence Station, N.B., daughter-in-law, Brenda McLaughlin; one sister, Josephine Smith, of Heathland, N.B.; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Resting at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., from where funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan. 4, 2008 at 2 p.m.
Interment at Moores Mills Rural Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 3, from 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Stewart, Marshall Wellesley

At the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour, N.B., on Dec. 28, 2007, Mr. Marshall Wellesley Stewart, husband of the late Frances (McLean) Stewart, of St. George, N.B. Born in St. George on June 14, 1914, he was a son of the late Arthur and Bessie (Perry) Stewart.
A loving father, grandfather, great- grandfather and brother, Marshall is survived by one daughter, Mary (Ron) Christie, of Fredericton, N.B.; two sons, Donald (Linda), of St. George, N.B., and Malcolm (Karen), of Salisbury, N.B.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, H. Perry (Yvonne), of Toronto, Ont; one sister, Jean (John) Cunningham, of Toronto, Ont.; and three nieces.
Besides his wife, he was pre-deceased by one grandson, Benjamin Christie; one sister, Mary A. Stewart; and one brother, Donald Stewart.
Marshall was a World War II veteran, where he served overseas in England, Italy and Holland with the Carleton York and Cape Breton Highlanders regiments. Prior to his retirement, Marshall was employed by NB Power Commission for 30-plus years. He was a lifetime member, with over 50 years membership, with the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 40, St. George, N.B. He was known for his whistle and his love of Big Band music. He also enjoyed being read to by Brittany O’Neill. He was well loved and will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., from where the service was held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Canon David Genge and Rev. Keith Osborne officiating.
Interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery at a later date.
Visiting was held at the funeral home on Sunday. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute Service was held at the funeral home, Sunday evening.
In Marshall’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Waycott, Gloria Ann

Gloria Ann Waycott, 59, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at her home, Calais, Me., surrounded by family. Gloria was born in Upper Mills, N.B., on April 22, 1948, the daughter of Joseph and Marion (Amon) McCray.
Gloria enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her mother, Marion McCray, of Upper Mills, N.B.; four children, Joey Waycott of Clinton, Me., Jason Waycott of Calais, Me., Mark Waycott of Baileyville, Me., and Ericka Tracy of Calais, Me.; two sisters, Joanie Reynolds and her husband, David, of Upper Mills, N.B., and Nancy Desjardins, of Illinois; a brother, Danny McCray and his wife, Jackie, of Upper Mills, N.B.; four grandchildren, Madyson, Riley, Josie, and Savanah Waycott; many nieces and nephews, and many special friends.
She was predeceased by her father, Joseph McCray.
Friends may call on Sunday, Jan. 6, from 2 – 4 p.m. (U.S.), at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, Me.
A celebration of Gloria’s life will be held at 1 p.m. (U.S.), Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008 at the Second Baptist Church, Church St., Calais.
Burial will follow in Calais Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gloria’s memory may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Bangor, 654 State St., Bangor, ME 04401.

Bennett, Mamie Muriel

At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., following a brief illness, on Jan. 3, 2008, Mrs. Mamie Muriel (Butler) Bennett, wife of Mr. Harry Mark Bennett, of Back Bay, N.B.; born at Deer Island, N.B., on Feb. 18, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Wallace and Queenie (Conley).
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Mamie is survived by her husband, Harry; one daughter, Daphne (Peter) Scott, of Oven Head, N.B.; two grandsons, Christopher (Amanda) Scott, of St. Stephen, N.B., and Peter Jr. Scott (Tammy Williams), of Back Bay, N.B.; great-grandchildren, Austin, Phillip, Vanessa, Abigail Robyn, Madeline Bree and Paige; one sister, Marie (Keith) Stewart, of Lambertville, N.B., and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mamie was a very loving woman. Her most joyous times were when she was taking care of her grandsons, and the trips to McDonalds. She was an avid bingo player who also loved caring for her cats. Mamie was a member of the Eastern Charlotte Lions Club.
At Mamie’s request, there will be no visitation.
The funeral service was held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel at the St. George Funeral Home on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Conrad Cline officiating.
Interment will take place at the Fairhaven Community Cemetery on Deer Island in the spring.
In Mamie’s memory, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, Canadian Liver Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Brook, Arlene Ruth

It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Arlene Ruth Brook, 74, of Lake Echo, N.S., on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 at home. Born in St. Stephen, Charlotte County, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Allison and Mary (Stairs) Thomas.
Arlene is survived by Donald Brook, her husband of 56 years; daughters, Leslie Ann Brook, Lake Echo, N.S., Linda Arlene Brook, Calgary, Alta., and Karen Allyson Brook (Sol Avisar), Ottawa, Ont.; son, David Andrew (Marilyn) Brook, Lawrencetown, N.S.; grandchildren, Sara, Adam Yulanda, Evan, Carson, Claire and Sophia; great-grandchildren, Thomas and Brooklynn; sister, Joanne (Sheridan) Brown, St. Stephen, N.B.; sisters-in-law, Maxine Brook, Victoria, and Bea Thomas, St. Stephen, N.B.; brother-in-law, Carson McGlinchey, St. Stephen, N.B. There are also many nieces and nephews to whom she always gave great love, care and friendship. Arlene never forgot her many cousins, aunts and uncles throughout her life.
She was predeceased by brother, David Thomas, and sister, Joyce McGlinchey.
Arlene was a devout Christian, spending as much of her time as possible in the closest United Church in every posting where her family resided. These efforts included many UCW fundraisers, years as church elder and everyday care of a church woman’s duty. She was a very good artist and painter in watercolours. Many of these paintings will live on in the hearts, minds and homes of those who knew and loved her. Grammy, as she was known by her seven grandchildren, and GG by her two great-grandchildren, was sure never to forget a birthday, Christmas, Valentine’s, Easter or Hanukkah, when little gifts and cards meant so much.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth, N.S., where memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, with Rev. Cheryl MacDonald officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society.
