Carroll, Rita Catherine
At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on Feb. 9, 2008, Rita Catherine Carroll, of St. Stephen, N.B.; daughter of the late Robert and Blanch E. (Dougherty) Carroll.
Survived by one sister, Doris Gordon, of Sherbrooke, Que.; one nephew, Robert D. Gordon, Sherbrooke, Que.; extended family, Margaret E. Watters, Philip Thompson, Greg Thompson, Margaret Thompson and Gail Smith.
Predeceased by two brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Union Street, St. Stephen, N.B., on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008 at 11 a.m.
Interment at Milltown Roman Catholic Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Cancer Society or charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
Avery, Beverly Winslow
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Feb. 6, 2008, Beverly Winslow Avery, age 68, husband of Carmeline M. (Legace) Avery, of Dufferin, Charlotte County, N.B.; son of the late Ernest and Myrtle Avery.
Bev was born on Dec. 23, 1939 in Baxters Harbour, N.S., and worked for Connors Brothers for 41 years. Bev’s passion for the ocean was reflected in his photography and wood carving.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Carmeline, is Bev’s daughter, Kelly Hanley (Kevin), and his grandsons, Keith and Kaleb Hanley, of Pennfield, N.B.; his son, Seth, of Beaver Harbour, N.B.; his brothers, Hartley (Reva), of St. Stephen, N.B. and Bernard (Jennie), of Beaver Harbour, N.B.; his sister, Marion Keddy (Cecil), of Port Williams, N.S.; several nieces and nephews; his Silky Terrier, Sailor; and special friends, Maisie and Meb Hudson, of Annapolis County, N.S.
No visitation will be held by request.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 at 11 a.m., from The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., with the Rev. Dr. Garth Williams officiating

Skodje, Aslaug Elida
Aslaug Elida (Dypvik) Skodje, 86 years of age, Søvik, Norway, passed away at Brattvåg Hospital, Jan. 25, 2008, Brattvåg, Norway, after a lengthy illness.
Survived by one son, Stig Skodje and his wife, Rosalie, of St. George, N.B.; one daughter-in-law, Laura Skodje, of Blacks Harbour, N.B.; one brother, Erling Dypvik (Svanhild), of Søvik, Norway; and two special sisters-in-law, Antonette Storeheim, of Valderøy, Norway, and Lilly Tennfjord, of Søvik, Norway; 11 grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren, of St. George, N.B.; and several nieces and nephews of Norway.
Aslaug was predeceased by her husband, Peder Skodje, of Søvik, Norway, in 1997; one brother, John Dypvik, of Gamlem, Norway; one son, Oddbjørn Skodje, in 2004, and one grandson, Eirik Skodje, both of Blacks Harbour, N.B.
Aslaug came to Canada with her husband and two sons in 1962. She lived in Bathurst, N.B., Georgetown, P.E.I., Blacks Harbour, N.B., Grand Manan, N.B., and St. George, N.B. In 1983, she returned to Søvik, Norway with her husband, where she lived until her death.
Funeral services were held at the Hamnsund Church, Hamnsund, Norway, on Jan. 29, 2008.
Donations in Aslaug’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Donahue, John (Jake) Edward
At his residence, Feb. 11, 2008, John (Jake) Edward Donahue, husband of the late Anne Theresa (Arsenault) Donahue, of St. Stephen, N.B.; son of the late John Shepard Donahue and Mary Elizabeth (Gagnon) Donahue.
Survived by daughter, Yvonne Bartlett (Perry), of St. Stephen, N.B.; son, Eric Donahue, of St. Stephen, N.B.; two grandchildren, Tessa Marie Bartlett and Jacob (Jake) Ellsworth Bartlett; mother-in-law, Catherine Arsenault; three brothers, Bill Donahue (Pat), Edmonton, Alta., Carl Donahue (Helena), St. Stephen, N.B., and Paul Donahue (Joan), St. Stephen, N.B.; three sisters, Gloria Hollingdale (Phil), Calais, Me., Connie Kukuchka (Frank), Utah, and Shirley (Donahue) Young, St. Stephen, N.B.; several nieces and nephews.

Fairy, James Thomas
James Thomas Fairy, born Feb. 9, 1947, in St. Catherine’s, Ont., passed away at the Douglas Memorial Hospital, Fort Erie, Ont., on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, following a lengthy illness.
A beloved father and grandfather, Jim is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer Gonczi and Margo (Fairy) Letteney; one son, James McAdam; and one grandson, Jacob Fairy.
Visitation was held at the Williams Funeral Home, Ridgeway, Ont., on Sunday, Feb. 3 from 7-9 p.m.
The funeral service was held in the Williams Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, Feb. 4, 2008 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Gooderham officiating.
Interment took place at the Ridgeway Cemetery in Crystal Beach, Ont.
Bainbridge, Gordon Stanley
Gordon Stanley Bainbridge, 54, of Seal Cove, Grand Manan, N.B., passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital, Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008 after a lengthy illness. Born at Victoria, B.C., he was the son of the late Thornton Bainbridge and Agnes (Ward) Bainbridge, of Ingalls Head, N.B.
Gordon was employed at the Connors Bros., Seal Cove plant and worked on the sealers in the processing line. He was a member of the Seal Cove Baptist Church.
Survived by his wife, Teri Lynn (Frost) Bainbridge, at home; his mother, Agnes Bainbridge, Ingalls Head, N.B.; two daughters, Irene (Glen) Hartford, of St. Andrews, N.B., and Laura (Michael Stanley) Bainbridge, of Seal Cove, N.B.; one son, Lloyd Bainbridge, of Grand Harbour, N.B.; three sisters, Agnes Melanson, of Memramcook, N.B., Pat (Harold) Ingalls, of Castalia, N.B., and Irene (Lionell) Scott, of Ingalls Head, N.B.; four brothers, John (Sharon) Bainbridge, of Woodstock, N.B., Russell (Priscilla) Bainbridge, of Moncton, N.B., Gerry (Francis) Bainbridge, Saint John, N.B., and Herbert (Cindy) Bainbridge, of Seal Cove, N.B.; nine grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends and relatives at the Seal Cove Baptist Church on Saturday.
The funeral service was held from the Church on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Peter Smith officiating.
The interment will take place later in the spring at the Hillside Cemetery, Seal Cove.
Following the service on Sunday, there was a reception in the church hall hosted by the ladies of the church.
The family has asked to have memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the N.B. Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Bustard, Elmer Roy
At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, N.B., on Jan. 28, 2008, Elmer Roy Bustard, of Fredericton, N.B., formerly of Blacks Harbour, N.B. Born in Monument Settlement, N.B., on Dec. 22, 1945, he was a son of the late Raymond and Beatrice (Watson) Bustard.
A loving father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by his wife, Mary; three sons, Chris (Kelly), Raymond and Kirk Bustard; one granddaughter, Abrielle Bustard; eight brothers, Rev. Vernon (Judy), Wesley (Joyce), Rev. Arden (Betty Ann), Clifford, Eugene, Gary (Diana), Rev. Lloyd (Pam) and Rev. Morton (Marilyn) Bustard; eight sisters, Marie Lloyd, Mildred (Brent) Patterson, Hilda (John) Gray, Carol Keetch, Katherine (Eric) Williams, Joanne (James) Post, Janice (Frank) Galbraith and Faith (Wayne) Galbraith; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Elmer was predeceased by two brothers, Howard and Rev. William Bustard.
Elmer was raised in Blacks Harbour, where he worked for Connors Bros. as a carpenter for a number of years before moving to Fredericton. He loved fishing and had a passion for music and enjoyed playing the guitar.
Rested at the United Pentecostal Church in Blacks Harbour, N.B., from where the service was held on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008 at 1 p.m.
The interment will be held at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring.
Visiting was held at the church on Wednesday.
In Elmer’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Harriott, Derick Ronald (Bon)
The death of Derick Ronald (Bon) Harriott, husband of Margaret Anne (Lord) Harriott, of 21 Alexandra Crescent, St. Andrews, N.B., occurred at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008. Born in Middlesex, England, Bon was a son of the late Alfred L. and Annie (Brown) Harriott.
Bon came to Canada in 1940. He was an electrician.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret; a son, John K. Harriott, of St. Andrews, N.B.; one daughter, Deborah J. (Dale Clarke), of Grand Prairie, Alta.; four brothers, Lennox Harriott, of Fairvale, N.B., Alfred Harriott, of Dartmouth, N.S., Frank E. Harriott, of Fredericton, N.B., and Hugh Harriott, of Gondola Point, N.B.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one brother, Cyril.
At Bon’s request, there will be no visiting or funeral service.

Waycott, Gloria Ann
Gloria Ann Waycott, 59, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at her home, Calais, Me., surrounded by family. Gloria was born in Upper Mills, N.B., on April 22, 1948, the daughter of Joseph and Marion (Amon) McCray.
Gloria enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her mother, Marion McCray, of Upper Mills, N.B.; four children, Joey Waycott of Clinton, Me., Jason Waycott of Calais, Me., Mark Waycott of Baileyville, Me., and Ericka Tracy of Calais, Me.; two sisters, Joanie Reynolds and her husband, David, of Upper Mills, N.B., and Nancy Desjardins, of Illinois; a brother, Danny McCray and his wife, Jackie, of Upper Mills, N.B.; four grandchildren, Madyson, Riley, Josie, and Savanah Waycott; many nieces and nephews, and many special friends.
She was predeceased by her father, Joseph McCray.
Friends may call on Sunday, Jan. 6, from 2 – 4 p.m. (U.S.), at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, Me.
A celebration of Gloria’s life will be held at 1 p.m. (U.S.), Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008 at the Second Baptist Church, Church St., Calais.
Burial will follow in Calais Cemetery.
