Bousquet, Bertha Agusta

Bertha Agusta Bousquet passed away on Friday, March 14, 2008, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B.; born in Dufferin, N.B., March 2, 1924, daughter of the late Adelbert and Janet (Blair) Hill.
Beloved wife of René Bousquet, of St. Stephen, N.B.; mother of Steven (Norma), of Ayr, Ont., Janet (Yvan), and Suzanne (Laurie), of Ottawa, Ont., and James (Cynthia), Waterloo, Ont. She also leaves six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a sister, Ida Anderson, of St. Stephen, N.B.
Bertha served in the R.C.A.F. during World War II, where she met her husband of 62 years.
She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 9 and also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of Kirk-McColl United Church.
Rested at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., where visiting hours were held on Sunday, March 16, 2008.
Funeral service was held at the funeral home on Monday, March 17, 2008 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Mark Hatfield officiating.
Interment at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Kirk-McColl United Church or charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Justason, Florence Lillian

Peacefully, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on March 11, 2008, following a brief illness, Mrs. Florence Lillian (Bent) Justason, wife of Herbert L. Justason, of Pennfield, N.B. Born in Saint John, N.B., on Jan. 26, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Lillian (Donner) Bent.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by her husband, Herbert; two sons, Leigh Justason, of Brampton, Ont., and Calvin (Dawn) Justason, of Pennfield, N.B.; one daughter, Jill Justason, of Pennfield, N.B.; six grandchildren: Lisa Joy (Rob) Traill, Lisa (Wayne) Jordon, Sherri (Greg) Pickering, Carrie (Jason) Ritchie, Melanie (Dan) Waldner and Derek Justason; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Bent, of Lepreau, N.B., and Donnie (Betty) Bent, of Pocologan, N.B.; three sisters, Shirley (Chuck) Kingsley, of Saint John, N.B., Della Archilles, of Lepreau, N.B., and Eva Mielkie, of Pembroke, Ont.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Florence was predeceased by one daughter, Linda "Cookie" Georgie, and one brother, James Bent.
Florence was a devoted wife and mother, who loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed crocheting in her spare time.
By Florence’s request, there will be no visiting or service.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Lepreau Community Cemetery.
In her memory, donations to the Fundy Nursing Home, Lepreau Community Cemetery, or to a chairty of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
Arrangements are in the care of the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B.

Matthews, E. Lester

E. Lester Matthews passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the Campobello Lodge, Campobello, N.B., after a brief illness.
Lester is survived by his wife of 66 years, Della Roberta Matthews; and their four children, Carl, of Lubec, Me., Twylla Brown (Herman), of Campobello, N.B., Gary (JoAnne), of Campobello, N.B., and Nadine Burgess, of Bar Harbor, Me.; daughter-in-law, Sandra, of Lubec, Me.; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; sister, Jacquline Vriezen, of Saint John, N.B.; one niece and one nephew.
Lester was predeceased by brother, Weston (Dot); sister, Carrie Pearl; brother-in-law, Dick Vriezen; and grandson, Keith Wayne.
The family would like to acknowledge the special care of Extra-Mural nurse Kathy Anthony, R.N., and the always caring staff of Campobello Lodge.
A graveside service will be held later in the spring at Head Harbour Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the NB Extra-Mural Program, St. Stephen Unit, Suite 100, 73 Milltown Blvd., St. Stephen, NB E3L 1G5, would be appreciated by the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Humphreys’ Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, N.B.

Buchanan, Belinda June

At Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, N.B., on March 19, 2008, Belinda June (Blair) Buchanan, wife of Donald L. Buchanan, of McAdam, N.B.; daughter of Ida (Conley) Blair and the late D. Calvin Blair.
Survived by her husband; one son, Don (Rene), St. Louis, Mo.; grandson, Donnie; granddaughter, Kayla; her mother; brothers, Donald Blair (Irene), McAdam, N.B., and Dale Blair (Jill), McAdam, N.B.; sister, Valerie Smith (Rodie), Newfoundland; several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by infant child, Dean Edward Buchanan.
Rested at the Voice of Pentecost Church, McAdam, N.B., from where funeral service was held on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 2 p.m.
Interment at Rockland Cemetery, McAdam, N.B., in the spring.
Visiting hours were held at the Voice of Pentecost Church on Friday, March 21.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Kidney Foundation or charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Comeau, Noreen Marie

Peacefully, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on March 19, 2008, Mrs. Noreen Marie (Richard) Comeau, wife of the late Dennis Alexander Comeau, of Pennfield, N.B. Born in Richibucto-Village, N.B., on Oct. 18, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Annie Marie Richard.
A loving mother, grandmother and sister-in-law, Noreen is survived by six sons: Raymond and Michael Comeau, both of Pennfield, N.B., Brian (Gail) Comeau, of Fort McMurray, Alta., John (Faith) Comeau, of Sylvan Lake, Alta., Dale (Sherry) Comeau, of Bloomfield, N.B., and Gordon (Michelle) Comeau, of St. George, N.B.; three daughters: Faith, Susan and Carolyn Comeau, all of Pennfield, N.B.; 16 grandchildren, six great- grandchildren; sister-in-law and special friend, Gussie (Eddy) Derhak, of Dover-Foxcroft, Me.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Noreen loved taking care of her family. She will be remembered for her famous homemade bread.
Prior to retirement, Noreen was employed at Connor’s Bros. for 16 years; previous to that, at the Fundy Hospital in Blacks Harbour for 11 years. For a period of time, she operated her own catering business.
She was a past member of the Brunswick Curling Club, where she enjoyed curling and playing darts.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., with visiting held on Saturday and Sunday.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated from the Stella Maris Catholic Church in Blacks Harbour, N.B., on Monday, March 24, 2008.
Interment will take place at the church cemetery in the spring.
In Noreen’s memory, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Cook, Helen Mary

Peacefully, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on March 23, 2008, Mrs. Helen Mary (Ganser) Cook, wife of Mr. Carroll Reginald Cook, of Back Bay, N.B. Born in New York, N.Y., on May 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Gertrude (Wedge) Ganser.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her husband, Carroll; three sons, Douglas (Marguerite) Cook, of Utopia, N.B., Phillip (Lois) Cook, and Michael (Kim) Cook, both of Back Bay, N.B.; one daughter, Cecelia (Pat) Dube, of Saint John, N.B.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Helen was predeceased by one son, Daniel.
Helen loved cooking and sewing and had a passion for gardening. She was an avid CBer whose handle was "Grasshopper." She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., from where the service will be held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating.
Interment will take place at the St. George Rural Cemetery in the spring.
Visiting was held at the funeral home on Monday and Tuesday.
In Helen’s memory, donations to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Wren, Lelia DeWolfe

Lelia DeWolfe Wren passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 11, 2008 at the Passamaquoddy Lodge in St. Andrews, N.B., in her 101st year.
Beloved sister of Bessie Medcof and Josephine Calder. Remembered warmly by nieces, Mary Guinan (Tom), and Sue Medcof; nephews, John W. Medcof (Irene), Ranby Medcof, and Hugh Calder (Elaine); fond great-aunt of John T. (Jennifer Chang), Anne (James Grant) and Thera Medcof; and Brianna and Joshua Calder; great-great-aunt of Eva and Isabelle Medcof.
She was predeceased by her sister, Frances Wren; her father, Captain Ranby Wren, and her mother, Frances Ina Wren.
Lelia was born on Aug. 10, 1907 in Bootle, England (near Liverpool), her father’s base as a sea captain. In 1918, after the Great War, the family returned to St. Andrews where Lelia and her three sisters grew up.
After graduating from the Charlotte County Grammar School, Lelia attended the Montreal General Hospital School of Nursing, beginning in 1929. Upon graduation in 1931, she went to work at the Alexandra Hospital in Montreal. Lelia spent her 42-year career at the “Alexandra”, finding particular fulfillment in working with children. She was internationally recognized for her work with children with polio. In 1973, she retired and returned to St. Andrews, living in the family home on Queen Street and participating in the life of the town.
Lelia will be remembered for integrity, grace, independence and her insistence on working hard in her profession and her personal life. Lelia’s middle name, DeWolfe, was given in honour of the DeWolfe family, whose members had a warm relationship with the Wrens.
A memorial service will be celebrated at All Saints Anglican Church, St. Andrews, with time and date to be announced sometime in late June 2008.
At this time, donations to the Passamaquoddy Lodge or All Saints Anglican Church would be apreciated by the family.

Daigle, Eleanor Myrtle

Unexpectedly, at her residence on March 21, 2008, Mrs. Eleanor Myrtle (Henry) Daigle, companion of Mr. Edward Brown of St. George, N.B. Born in St. George on June 12, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Myrtle (Cowie) Henry.
She is survived by her companion, Edward; three sons, Jack (Jean) Carrier, of Beaver Harbour, N.B., Richard (Gail) Daigle, and Terry Daigle, both of Oakville, Ont.; two daughters, Sharon (Doug) McGuire, of Guelph, Ont., and Laurie; several grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Jeanette (Stan) Sission; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Eleanor was an avid Bingo player who enjoyed painting and crafts. She will be sadly missed by her friends and family.
At Eleanor’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
In her memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
