Harding, Milton Earl
At Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Feb. 15, 2008, Milton Earl Harding, of Old Bay Road, Dufferin, Charlotte County, N.B., husband of the late Donna (Woodard) Harding; son of Vida (Hamilton) Harding and the late Ervin Harding, of St. Stephen, N.B.
Milton was a long-time employee of Wheelers Auto Parts, Calais, Me., and in later years, custodian at St. Stephen Middle School.
Survived by his mother; one daughter, Sandy Grimmer; one son, John Harding (Sharon Caswell), of St. Stephen, N.B.; and a special friend, Lynda Feltmate; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Foster Harding (Teri), St. Stephen, N.B.; several nieces and nephews.
Rested at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B.
There will be no funeral service by request.
The family received friends and relatives at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 18, 2008.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Cancer Society or charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
There will be a graveside service in the spring at the Oak Bay Rural Cemetery. Time and date will be published at a later time.
Liddle, Helen Willena
Peacefully, with her daughter, Janet, by her side, Helen Willena (Linton) Liddle, passed on March 14, 2008, at the London Health Sciences Centre, London, Ont., in her 88th year.
Loving wife and best friend for 62 years to Sidney Liddle.
Remembering her fun-loving, nurturing spirit are her daughters, Bonnie Orvidas and Janet Boyes; granddaughters, Lisa and Debra Orvidas; and son-in-law, Tony Orvidas. She is survived by her sister and good friend, Dorothy Bentley, and her extended family of Pomeroy Ridge, N.B.
Helen loved her Maritime family and heritage. She will be greatly missed by many lifelong friends whom she held in her heart.
Helen is now reunited with her dear daughter, Heather Anne Fleming (1975); her parents, Lena and Berton Linton; and her siblings, Ferne, Murray, Boyd, Alice and Christine.
In spite of her illness, Helen was gracious and appreciative and had a lovely smile for those around her until her passing.
In lieu of flowers, it was Helen’s wish that donations in her memory be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, whose mission is to grant wishes to create hope and happiness for children with life-threatening illnesses across Canada (www.makeawish.ca).
The family welcomed visitors at Cudney’s Funeral Chapel, 241 Main Street West, Welland, on Monday, March 17.
The funeral took place on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at 1 p.m.
Burial followed.
Scullion, Gary John
Peacefully, at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, Burlington, Ont., on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, Gary John Scullion (Aug. 31, 1938 - Feb. 14, 2008), of Waterdown, Ont., in his 70th year. Son of the late John and Margaret (Clinch) Scullion.
Born in St. George, N.B., he was the beloved husband of Shirley, and dear father of John and Sarah, of Waterdown, Ont., and Joy and Parrish Wood, of Carlisle, Ont.; loving grandfather of Ethan, Maren, Marcus and Jessica; dear brother of Cheryl and Al Fowler, of Stoney Creek, Ont. Survived by many family members in New Brunswick.
At Gary’s request, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place.
Donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre, Box 739 LCD1, Hamilton, ON L8N 3M8, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
Swanston, Marion Elaine
Peacefully, surrounded by family, at her residence on March 19, 2008, Mrs. Marion Elaine (Welles) Swanston, wife of Mr. C. Roy Swanston, of Pennfield, N.B. Born in Pennfield on June 1, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Murray) Welles.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and special friend, Marion is survived by her husband, Roy; two sons, Terry (Gisele) Swanston, and Kirk (Mona) Swanston, both of Pennfield, N.B.; one granddaughter, Stephanie Henry, of St. George,
N.B.; great-granddaughter, Abigail Henry; her special friends, Vernon and Colleen Spear, of Pennfield, N.B.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marion was predeceased by a son, Gary; one sister, Royce Barry; and two brothers, Jim and Murray. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Marion was a long serving member of the Pennfield Baptist Church, where she was deeply involved. She was an avid birdwatcher and she enjoyed playing games on the computer, which she discovered at the age of 84. She also enjoyed reading her Bible and eating out at Smitty’s. She was a genuine people person.
Rested at the Pennfield Baptist Church, Pennfield, N.B., from where the service was held on Saturday, March 22, 2008, at 2 p.m.
Interment will take place at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring.
Visiting was held at the church on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Lord, Elizabeth (Beth) Silliker
It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Elizabeth (Beth) Silliker Lord, as a result of a motor vehicle accident on Jan. 12, 2008. Born in Saint John, N.B., Beth was the daughter of Robert and Lois Silliker of Kanata, Ont.
She graduated in 1974 from Sir James Dunn Academy, in St. Andrews, N.B., and in 1977 from the University of Western Ontario in London with a degree in music. In 1979 she attended UNB where she received a degree in Education.
Beth was a dedicated teacher in Bathurst, N.B., for the past 28 years. She brought the gift of music to children, a clever mind to math and literacy students, and a heart full of caring to everyone she touched. Throughout this time, she was active in local music festivals and choirs, and was involved with local and provincial figure skating organizations.
Despite a busy professional life, Beth was first and foremost a loving wife and mother.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Wayne, and daughters, Lindsay (Daniel Doucet) and Kaitlyn. She is also survived by one sister, Shawn (David St. Jean); one brother, Larry (Lesley); and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service in Beth’s memory was held on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, from First United Church, in Bathurst, N.B.
Donations may be made in Beth’s memory to The Beth Lord Memorial Scholarship Fund at any CIBC bank branch or to a favourite charity.
Russell, Judson Alfred
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, Judson Alfred Russell, of the Valley Road, St. Stephen, N.B. Born in Seal Cove, Grand Manan, N.B. he was the son of the late Henry and Abigail (Nickerson) Russell.
Judson is survived by his brother, William Russell (Hattie), of Lighthouse Road, Dufferin, N.B., cousins, nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Pauline Curran.
He was predeceased by two sisters and one brother.
Resting at Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, N.B., from where the service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.
Interment will take place in Bocabec Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Donations to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation, NB Lung Association or charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
Waycott, Norman E., Jr.
The death of Norman E. Waycott, Jr., of Calais, Me., occurred peacefully on Feb. 7, 2008, at Ocean View Nursing Home, Lubec, Me., after a long illness. Born June 27, 1940, in Calais, Me., he was the son of the late Norman Waycott, Sr.
Norman worked most of his life for Ulbick Stainless Steel in Connecticut. He served in Vietnam and was a member of Legion Post 6851 in Connecticut.
He is survived by his mother, Doris (Wilson-Waycott) Nonnemacker, of Rhode Island; daughters, Lori Waycott (Ken), and Vicky Stedman; son, Norman Waycott III (Terry), all of Connecticut; brothers, Robert (Ann) Waycott and Paul (Sharon) Waycott, both of Calais, Me., and Gale Waycott, Florida; sisters, Judy (Raleigh) Barry, L’Etete, N.B., Susie (Gerald) Brown, Alberta, June (Ron) Kinney, St. Stephen, N.B., and Cindy (Phil) Polk, Princeton, Me.; stepmother, Lillian Waycott, Calais, Me.; stepchildren, Roxanne Blansfield, Conn., Rocky Merchant, Connecticut; and Tammy Stephenson, England; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Norman was predeceased by his son, Philip; sister, Mary; and brother, Roger.
A private service was held on Feb. 9, 2008.
Ross, Michael George
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Tuesday, March 25, 2008; Michael George Ross, husband of Bonnie (Knowles) Ross, of Mohannes, N.B. Born in St. Stephen, N.B., he was the son of the late George and Elsie (Scott) Ross.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Bonnie, are his children, Sherri Robar (Darren), of Mohannes, N.B., and Ashley, at home, three brothers, Donald, Andy (Martha) and Peter, all of St. Stephen, N.B., two sisters, Sylvia LaPorte, of St. Stephen, N.B. and Sandra Cox (Jay), of Calais, Me., two grandchildren, Brandon and Makayla, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Michael was predeceased by one brother and 2 sisters.
By Michael’s request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. However, friends are welcome to attend a service of remembrance to be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Upper Mills United Church.
Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery, followed by a reception in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Upper Mills United Church Memorial Fund or Upper Mills Cemetery Fund would be appreciated by the family.

Thompson, Larry Chandler
Unexpectedly, at his residence in Lambertville, N.B., on Feb. 14, 2008, Mr. Larry Chandler Thompson, formerly of Blacks Harbour, N.B. Born in Blacks Harbour, N.B., on March 4, 1940, he was the son of the late Chandler and Alva (Cross) Thompson.
Larry is survived by his special friend, Margaret Lord, of Lambertville, N.B.; one son, Mike (Wendy) Thompson, of Blacks Harbour, N.B.; two grandchildren, Haley and Jessie Thompson; one sister, Muriel Lomax, of Lepreau, N.B.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Larry loved music and was beginning to learn how to play guitar. He will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him.
At Larry’s request, there was no visiting. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the St. George Rural Cemetery.
