Arbeau, Sarah Blanch
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, Mrs. Sarah Blanch (Camick) Arbeau, of Richardson, N.B., wife of the late Wallace Arbeau. Born on Deer Island, N.B., on Oct. 31, 1923, she was a daughter of the late William and Stella (Cooke) Camick.
A loving mother, grandmother and sister, Sarah is survived by one son, Arthur Arbeau, of Richardson, N.B.; one daughter, Shirley Lord, of St. Stephen, N.B.; two granddaughters, Brenda (Daniel) Henry and Julie Lord, both of St. Stephen, N.B.; seven great-grandchildren, Jodie Henry, Ashley Lord, Emilee Henry, Nathan Lord, Sarah Henry, Brayden Lord and Tony Henry; one sister, Hazel Justason, of Richardson, N.B.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Prior to her retirement, Sarah worked as a packer for H.W. Welch for all of her working life. She loved travelling, having travelled both locally and abroad. She loved knitting when able, and visiting her family. She was a member of the Deer Island Seniors.
At Sarah’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Connell, H. Vaughan
Peacefully, at the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour, N.B., on Aug. 17, 2008, Mr. H. Vaughan Connell, of Breadalbane, N.B. Born in St. George, N.B. on July 13, 1925, he was a son of the late Vernon and Alma (Hill) Connell.
A loving brother and friend, Vaughan is survived by one sister, Jean Connell-Griffin, of Perth Ont.; one brother, Ernest (Lorna) Connell, of Breadalbane, N.B., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Vaughan was an avid curler and a life-long member of the St. George Curling Club, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 40 at St. George.
By Vaughan’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
In his memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Briand, Frances Winifred
Peacefully in her home, Frances (Diddie) Winifred Briand (nee Diddie Higgins) passed away on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008.
Diddie is survived by her beloved husband and best friend, Dannie. Loving mother of Frances and her husband, Michael. A blessing to her grandchildren, Erin and Trevor and his wife, Sarah, and great-granddaughter, Lauren.
Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews in New Brunswick. Diddie always held a special place in her heart for her family and friends in St. Stephen, N.B., where she grew up.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Florence and Mayme, and brothers, David, Redmond, Patrick and William.
In 1961, she moved with her husband and daughter to Trenton, Ont., where she was an active member of the CWL at St. Peter's Church for over 40 years. Diddie was a remarkable lady who will always be remembered for zest for life and her love of family and friends.
The family received friends at the Rushnell Funeral Centre, 60 Division Street, Trenton, Ont., on Tuesday evening.
Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008 at 11 a.m., with Father Brian McNally officiating.
Interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
If desired, memorial donations to charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
Jones, Ronald R.
Ronald R. Jones, 78, passed away at his residence at North Head, Grand Manan Island, N.B., on Monday, July 14, 2008. Born at Grand Harbour, N.B., he was the son of the late Robert and Estella (Green) Jones.
Ronnie, as he was known by his many friends, served his community as a Village Councillor in North Head, worked as a fisherman, operated heavy equipment, drove tractor trailers, and later in his working life, was an agent for a courier service on Grand Manan Island until his failing health could no longer allow him to work.
For many years, he could often be seen sitting in the early evening in front of his home enjoying the company of his family, and would greet passersby with a big smile and wave, and could always make time for a visit for anyone who wanted to stay awhile. He will always be remembered and sadly missed by all who knew him.
Survived by his wife, Mary (Lambert), and his five daughters: Judith Dow (Rodney), Vicki, Rhonda Boynton (Kevin), Angela, and Linda Markee (James), all of Grand Manan Island, N.B.; one brother, Harvard (Glenna), of Fredericton, N.B.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one grandchild, Brayden Markee.
Visiting hours were held at Ells Funeral Home on Wednesday,
The funeral service was held from the Church of the Ascension on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Captain Dana Dean officiating.
Interment followed at the North Head Community Cemetery.
The family has requested that donations may be made to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Fountain, Cora Winnifred
Peacefully, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen N.B, on Aug. 17, 2008, Mrs. Cora Winnifred (Calder) Fountain, wife of the late H. Stuart Fountain, of Deer Island N.B. Born at Fairhaven, N.B., on Sept. 7, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Louise (Lord) Calder.
A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by one daughter, Charlene (Dickie) Richardson, of Richardson N.B.; one son, Dwight (Carol) Stuart, of Saint John, N.B., one step daughter, Marilyn Taylor, of Lincoln N.B.; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Peter) Lavigne of Saint John, N.B., and Joel (Carla) Stuart, of Quispamsis, N.B.; three great- grandchildren, Zachery Lavigne, Jacob and Lucas Stuart; one brother, Dr. Paul Calder and his wife, Helen, of Ankeny, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Weltha Fountain, of Deer Island, N.B., and several nieces and cousins.
In addition to her second husband, Stuart, she was predeceased by her first husband, Rudolph Stuart, in 1968.
Cora was a homemaker for most of her life. She had a love for cooking, baking and especially cake decorating. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed spending her free time with her loving family. Cora was a lifelong member of the Lambert’s Cove Baptist Church at Lambert’s Cove, N.B.
Resting at the Lambert’s Cove Baptist Church, Lambert’s Cove NB from where the service will be held on WednesdayAug. 20, 2008 at 2 p.m., with interment to follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Deer Island.
Visiting at the church will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Leavitt, Susan Christine
Born Aug. 19, 1912 in St. George, N.B., Susan Christine Leavitt passed away in Duncan, B.C., on June 8, 2008.
A memorial service will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, St. George, N.B., at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008.
Susan is survived by daughter, Belva Hooper (Charles), and son, Gene Leavitt (Dorothy); three grandchildren, one grandson-in-law and several great-grandchildren.
Susan was predeceased by her husband, Roland; granddaughter, Christine Hall; and siblings.
Interment will be at St. George Rural Cemetery.
Armstrong, Virginia Louise
At Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen, N.B., Virginia Louise Armstrong. (July 15, 1922 - July 19, 2008); widow of John (Jack) Ronald Armstrong. She was the daughter of the late Clayton and Susan (Appleby) Cameron. Virginia was a life-long resident of Milltown, N.B., residing on Spring Street.
She is survived by her children: Robert (Karen) Armstrong, of Stanley, N.B., Debra Sprague (Fred), of Baileyville, Me., and Pamela Tucker (Kurt), of St. Stephen, N.B.; seven grandchildren: Jack, Jason and Nicole Armstrong, Kelley, Heather and Megan Sprague, and Jeremy Nixon; her sister, Betty Fountain, of Baileyville, Me., sister-in-law, Sara Cameron, of Calais, Me.; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, sister, Frances McLeod, brother, John (Jack) Cameron, and brother-in-law, Arnold (Diz) Fountain.
Funeral service will be held at St Peter’s Anglican Church, Milltown, N.B., on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 11 a.m.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 22, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B.
Interment at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery.

KARYULA, Helga Louise
Helga Louise (née Prange) Karyula, born March 15, 1942 in St. Stephen, N.B., passed away peacefully July 24, 2008 at the Dufferin Care Centre, Coquitlam, B.C., after a long courageous battle with cancer.
She will be missed by her husband, Bob; her daughter Pam (Mike) Waller; and granddaughter, Danielle. She is also survived by family members in Florida, Ontario and New Brunswick, and her many friends.
Helga was predeceased by her parents, Otto and Marguerite Prange; her sister, Dorothea Galle; and beloved granddaughter, Emily.
Services were held on Aug. 1, 2008, at 1 p.m., at Trinity United Church, Port Coquitlam, B.C.

Survived by his fiancée, Darlene Brown; his mother, Mitzi Fortin (Robert), Texas; his biological mother, Evelyn Malley; grandparents, Doug and Berla Lord, St. Stephen, N.B.; children, Tracy Hardy (Darren), Merrimack, N.H., and Darren Brown (Amanda), Campobello, N.B.; grandchildren, Khalin, Kelsi and Kailey Brown, Sarah and Benjamin Hardy; brothers and sisters, Tave McLennan (James), Nova Scotia, May McAllister, St. Stephen, N.B., Gus McAllister, Winnipeg, Man., Tammy Clinch, (Glen Stewart), St. Stephen, N.B., and Ralph Clinch (Maria), Winnipeg, Man.; nieces and nephews, Donnie, Bradley, Tyler, Robbie, Sarah, Daisy, Nora, Julia, Natasha, and Gary; aunts, uncles, cousins; and his best fishing buddy, Pete Moffatt.

Vickers, Bertha "Lillian"
At the Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews, N.B., on July 16, 2008, Mrs. Bertha "Lillian" Vickers, wife of the late Benjamin "Bennie" Vickers, of Beaver Harbour, N.B. Born at Beaver Harbour on April 3, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Medley and Petra Kennedy.
Lillian is survived by adopted son, Joe Barrio (Suzanne Burt), of Lansdowne, Ont., two granddaughters, Jennifer Vickers (Kevin Vance), of L’Etang, N.B., and Tina Vickers, of Edmonton, Alta.; four great-grandchildren: Alec Swain, Hannah Swain, Addison Vance and Ethan Hawke; daughter-in-law, Rowena "Maisy" Vickers, of St. George, N.B.; sister-in-law, Marion Kennedy, of Halifax, N.S.; her best friends, Ellen Nightingale, Brenda Gay, Mary Olmstead, Hazel Gilmore, Mavis Leavitt and more; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, Lillian was predeceased by one son, William; one sister, Ruth; and by three brothers: George, Parker and Hermie.
Lillian was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Prior to her retirement, Lillian was employed by Connors Bros. in Blacks Harbour as a quality control inspector, by Royal Trust Realty and Coastal Realty as a realtor; and the Bank of Nova Scotia in Blacks Harbour as a teller and an appraiser. She was a volunteer ambulance driver throughout the local community.
Lillian was a member of the Girl Guides Of Canada, a former member of the Greater Saint John and New Brunswick Real Estate Association, The O.E.S., Granite Chapter No. 15 at St. George, and a long-time member of the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., with visitation Friday from 7-9 p.m.
An Eastern Star Service was held on Friday at the funeral home at 7 p.m.
The funeral service was held on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 2 p.m., from the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church, with Rev. Bruce Alcorn officiating.
