McKay, Ian Robert

Peacefully, at the Moncton City Hospital, Moncton, N.B., after a courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, Ian Robert McKay, of Residence de L’Aboiteau, Dieppe, N.B. Born in St. Stephen, N.B., he is the son of the late Taylor and Marion (MacLean) McKay.
Before the passing of his mother, he lived in Digdeguash and helped look after her.
Ian is survived by his two brothers, Ed (Sharon), of Riverview, N.B., and Don, of Moncton, N.B.; nephews, Darren (Zoe), Jeff (Jody), Luke and Ben.
Resting at Humphreys’ Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, N.B., from where the service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 2:30 p.m.
A reception will immediately follow in the Humphreys’ Community Room and Reception Centre.
The interment will take place in Bocabec Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home during a time of visitation to be held on Saturday, from 1 p.m. until service time.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

McGlinchey, Addie Bernice

On Aug. 14, 2008, God called Addie Bernice McGlinchey to join her husband, Byron, in heaven.
Survived by eight children: Darrell, of Old Ridge, N.B., Vincent (Faye), of Fredericton, N.B., Judy Blaney (Donald), of Saint John, N.B., Sheila, of Halifax, N.S., Lloyd (Lorraine), of Andersonville, N.B., Philip, Jeff (Jennifer) and Roddy, all of Pomeroy Ridge, N.B.; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Marion McPhail of Perry Me., and Mildred McGlinchey (Arnold), of Pomeroy Ridge, N.B.; One brother, Clifford McLaughlin of Little Ridge, N.B.; nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents, husband, son Glenn; and daughter-in-law Shirley.
A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the Scotch Ridge United Church, Scotch Ridge, N.B. By request, no visiting hours will be held.
Interment at Pomeroy Ridge Cemetery, Pomeroy Ridge, N.B.

Ingersoll, Curtis Eugene

Unexpectedly, at his residence at St. George, N.B., on Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, Curtis Eugene Ingersoll, husband of Mary B. (Morse) Ingersoll, of St. George, N.B. Born on Grand Manan, N.B., on Sept. 30, 1936, he was the son of the late Wayne and Annie Mae (Beal) Ingersoll.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by his present wife, Mary; two sons from his previous marriage, Wayne (Cheryl) Ingersoll and Kevin (Kelly) Ingersoll, both of Calais, Me.; one daughter, Lynn (John) Paris, of Sussex Corner, N.B.; five grandchildren, Charissa, Johnathan, Nathan, Jacob and MacKenzie; one sister, Sheila Fleet, of Maces Bay, N.B., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by one sister, Rosilynd Farnsworth.
Curtis was a self-employed diesel mechanic who was well known throughout the area, both by truckers and marine workers alike, for more than 25 years. He enjoyed trucks and 18-wheelers and working on them.
He was an avid animal lover who loved dogs. Curtis was a very social person who loved talking to people and catching up on the news. He loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Wesleyan Church at Blacks Harbour. Curtis was often quoted as saying, "If I’m going to do something, I’ll do it right the first time or not do it at all."
Resting at the Wesleyan Church, Blacks Harbour, N.B., from where the service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Jeff Hoyt and Rev. Bruce Cheney officiating.
Visiting at the church on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
In Curtis’ memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Breau, Andrea Faith

At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., following a brief illness, on Sept. 21, 2008, Mrs. Andrea Faith (Hicks) Breau, loving wife of Paul Breau, of St. George, N.B. Born in Sackville, N.B., on July 9, 1954, she was a daughter of Vaughan and Norma Jean (Wry) Hicks.
A loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt, she is survived by her husband, Paul, of St. George, N.B.; one daughter, Sarah Breau, of St. George, N.B.; one stepson, Gary Brideau, of Montreal, Que.; parents, Vaughan and Norma Hicks, of Sackville, N.B.; one sister, Pam Hicks, of Sackville, N.B.; three brothers, Dana (Terri) Hicks, of Midgic, N.B., Andrew (Star) Hicks, of Sackville, N.B., and Matthew Hicks, of Amherst, N.S.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Andrea worked as a nursing assistant at Centracare, Saint John, N.B., where she met her husband, Paul. She was presently employed at ABC Surgical at Saint John. She was an avid photographer, who loved painting and spending time in the outdoors.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., from where the service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008 from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel at 2 p.m., with Rev. Darren Millett officiating, followed by interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery.
Visiting at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
In Andrea’s memory, donations to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Stewart, Lawrence Harley

The death of Lawrence Harley Stewart, formerly of Old Ridge, occured unexpectedly at Old Ridge, on Sunday, July 20, 2008.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and have been entrusted to The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home, 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B.

Stuart, Ruby “Betty” Elizabeth

at Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., Aug. 19, 2008, Ruby “Betty” Elizabeth Stuart, widow of John F. Stuart, of St. Stephen, N.B.
Survived by one daughter, Carol Jane Lynam, Toronto, Ont.; two grandsons, Andrew Lynam and Stuart Lynam; one sister, Sheila Acheson, St. Stephen, N.B.; one brother, Lloyd Farnham, St. Stephen, N.B.; several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by one brother, Charles (Jack) Farnham, Perth Andover, N.B. and one sister, Charleen Hunt, Augusta, Me.
Funeral service will be held at the Christ Anglican Church, Prince William Street, St. Stephen, N.B., on Saturday August 23, 2008 at 10 a.m.
Interment at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B. on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Cheney, Craig Douglas

Craig Douglas Cheney, 82, formerly of North Head, Grand Manan Island, N.B., passed away at Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews, N.B., on Monday, Sept. 15, 2008 after a short illness. Born on White Head Island, N.B., he was the son of the late Almon and Maggie (Titus) Cheney.
Craig grew up with the sea in his blood, sailing as a boy with his father on his three-masted working schooner, the Alta C. As a young man, Craig and his partner, Rolf Cronk, operated a freight business with the Snow Maiden, then the Pride of Fundy. He joined the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in 1964 as the captain of the Fisheries Patrol Boat Cumella, retiring in 1989 after 25 years of service.
He was an avid hunter, gardener, and cook, and enjoyed his backyard "smokehouse" from which many delicacies were lovingly produced – salmon, haddock, bacon, pork chops, and hams.
Craig was a devout Anglican serving for many years as Warden and Vestry member of Church of the Ascension in North Head. He was also a member of the Mananook Lodge No. 38 A&FM.;
Craig is survived by his daughter, Martha Cheney, of Saint John, N.B.; his three sons, Kirk (Holly) Cheney, of North Head, N.B., LCdr. Jason (Adrianne) Cheney, of Fall River, N.S., and Rev. Bruce (Roxie) Cheney, of Brown’s Flat, N.B.; one sister, Madeline Gibson, of Fredericton, N.B.; one brother, Beverley (Linda) Cheney, of Red Lake, Ont.; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Muriel (Lakeman) Cheney, in 2002, and one son, Beverly.
Visiting hours were held at Ells Funeral Home on Wednesday.
The funeral service was held from the Church of the Ascension in North Head, N.B., on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Captain Dana Dean officiating.
Interment followed in the North Head Community Cemetery.
Craig’s family has requested donations may be made to the Church of the Ascension or the Grand Manan Boys and Girls Club.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Ells Funeral Home, 1199 Route 776, Grand Manan, NB E5G 1G2.

Colbert, Constance Alexandria

At St. Stephen’s Senior Complex, Old Ridge, N.B., on July
25, 2008, Constance Alexandria (Hanson) Colbert, widow of Kevin J. Colbert; daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (McGuire) Hanson.
Survived by one daughter, Shirley Stewart, of St. Stephen, N.B.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Rested at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., from where funeral service was held Monday, July 28, 2008 at 10 a.m., with Rev. John Keoughan officiating.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening.
Interment at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Rollingdam, N.B.
For those who wish, memorials to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

MacDonald Janice Patricia

Janice Patricia McDonald, 38, of New Victoria, N.S., passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Waterford, N.S., she was a daughter of Mary Delores (Neville) Roach, New Waterford, and the late John James ‘Jimmy’ Roach.
Janice attended and graduated from Breton Education Centre in 1988. She then moved on to the Sydney Community Health Center’s School of Nursing and graduated as a registered nurse in 1990. Janice and Joey began their married lives together in St. Stephen, N.B., where their children Renee, and Ryan, were born. Later, she moved back home to Glace Bay and had another son, Colin. Janice was employed in Glace Bay, New Waterford, and the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Janice had a very special way about her to always make people laugh. She loved to laugh and joke and enjoyed telling a good story to family and friends. She truly had a great love of life. Janice was loved and will be greatly missed by all, especially her children.
Surviving are her children, Renee MacDonald, Ryan MacDonald and Colin MacDonald, all at home; brothers, Richard (Natalie) Roach, Wilmot, N.S., Terrence (Eleanor) Roach, New Waterford, N.S., Blair (Cherie) Roach, Victoria Mines, N.S.; sisters, Darlene (Art) O’Keefe, Glace Bay, N.S., Johanna (Greg) McNeil, New Waterford; Victoria, N.S., partner, Tony Boutilier, New Victoria, N.S.
Janice was predeceased by her husband, Joey Maxwell MacDonald; father, Jimmy Roach, and sister, Debbie Roach.
There was no visitation.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford, N.S. A funeral mass of celebration was held Saturday, Aug. 23 at 11a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Church, with Fr. Paul MacNeil officiating.
Interment followed in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Following the burial, a luncheon took place at Blair Roach’s house, located at 45 Armada Dr., Victoria Mines.
