Perkins, Evelyn Edna
The death of Evelyn Edna Perkins, age 94, occurred on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen, N.B. Born Nov. 26, 1914, she was the daughter of the late William and Edna Moffatt of St. Stephen, N.B.
She was a member of the Kirk-McColl United Church and also the Ladies Auxiliary, St. Croix Branch No. 9, St. Stephen, N.B.
Evelyn is survived by son, James Perkins; daughter, Lynne Perkins; grandchildren, Gregory Perkins and Patricia (Perkins) Sears; four great-grandchildren, Cody and Delaney Perkins, Austin and Ashley Sears; sisters, Frances Moffatt, Pearl Russell and Ina Moffatt; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by twin daughters, Charlotte and Charlene, daughter-in-law, Rachael Perkins, seven brothers and four sisters.
No visitation will be held by request.
Funeral service was held at the Kirk-McColl United Church, King Street, St. Stephen, N.B., on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008 at 2 p.m.
Interment at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to Lincourt Manor, Passamaquoddy Lodge or charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Armstrong, Donna Maxine
At the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour, N.B., following a period of failing health, Mrs. Donna Maxine (Gaudet) Armstrong, wife of the late Mr. Allan B. Armstrong, formerly of Pennfield, N.B. Born at St. Stephen, N.B., on July 8, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Helen (McClanaghan) Gaudet.
A loving mother, grandmother and sister, Donna is survived by one son, Randy (Kim) Armstrong, of Pennfield, N.B.; three grandchildren, Crystal, Cody and Carlie; one brother, Mel (Theresa) Gaudet, of Blacks Harbour, N.B.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Prior to her retirement, Donna was a sales clerk at both the Connor’s Bros. Store, Blacks Harbour, N.B., and Al Sullivan’s Market, Pennfield, N.B. She was a friendly face who liked to meet new people. She enjoyed quilting and completing jigsaw puzzles.
By Donna’s request, there will be no visitation.
A service was held on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008 at 2 p.m., from the Christ Church (Anglican), Pennfield, N.B., with Rev. Keith Osborne officiating.
Interment followed at the church cemetery.
In Donna’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Thurlow, Priscilla F.
After a long period of failing health and nine days short of her 94th birthday, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Priscilla F. Thurlow, of McAdam, N.B.
Born in London, England on Dec. 20, 1914, she is survived by her four children: Pam Mackay (George), Doreen Thurlow, Stephen Thurlow (Cindy), and Carole Gass (Lawrence); seven grandchildren: Michael Thurlow (Angie), Tracy Pare (Jean Marc), Tara Gass, Kirk Mackay, Tina Cleghorn (Ryan), Candace Mackay and April Johnson; seven great- grandchildren: Cassidy, Anthony, Brody, Brock, Jordyn, Brynn and Colby.
Besides her parents, Thomas and Emily Morgan, she was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, George, in 1982, five brothers and four sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a War Bride who married her soldier in 1943 and immigrated to Canada in 1946 to begin her new life.
She was devoted to and active in her church and a member of the Ladies Guild. She belonged to the Ina Rebekah Lodge, the Hospital Auxiliary, the Royal Canadian Legion and dearly loved her meetings with her English and Canadian Clubs.
She enjoyed knitting and reading and was a card player extraordinaire. She loved to walk and to travel back to her native land.
Forever remembered and loved for her kind and generous spirit, her inner strength and her love of family.
A memorial service was held from St. George’s Anglican Church, McAdam, N.B., on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008 at 2 p.m.
Interment will take place in the spring.

Perkins, Marguerite Alward
Marguerite Alward Perkins passed away on Dec. 2, 2008, after a short battle with cancer, at her home in Bartlesville, Okla.
She is survived by one sister, one stepson, and one stepdaughter.
She was predeceased by her husband, Darwin; two brothers and two sisters.
Burial took place in Bartlesville, Okla.
Scott, Alice Marie
At Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews, N.B., on Dec. 14, 2008, Alice Marie Scott, widow of Ronald G. Scott, of Oak Bay, N.B.; daughter of the late Roy and Margaret (McMinn) Lawson.
Survived by her children, Dennis Scott (Debbie), Oak Bay, N.B., Dexter Scott, Calgary, Alta., Deidre Scott, Oak Bay, N.B., Dorian Scott (Wanda), Oak Bay, N.B., and Dawna Stewart (Dan), Oak Bay, N.B.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Muriel Sewell (Russell), St. Stephen, N.B., and Fern Turner, Ontario; two brothers, Fay Lawson, Woodstock, N.B., and Robin Lawson, Bull Lake, N.B.; several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband; sons, Derek Leigh and Howard; brother, George Lawson.
Resting at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., from where funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008 at 11 a.m.
Interment at Oak Bay Cemetery, Oak Bay, N.B.
Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.

Dowling, “Chickie” Charles Donald
“Chickie” Charles Donald Dowling (April 11, 1945 - Dec. 13, 2008) passed away at his home with his wife, Irene, and daughter, Ellen, by his side. Chickie was raised by his grandparents, the late John and Ellen (Morgan) Dowling.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Irene; one daughter, Ellen Ruddock, and her husband, Steve; his three #1 grandsons, Jonathan, Jacob and William; brothers and sisters, Mary Ann (Wilfred) O’Brien, of Calais, Me., Bill Dowling (Jacky Doucet), of St. Stephen, N.B., Doug Clinch (Eileen), of Grand Manan, N.B., and Diane (Joey) Green, of Grand Manan, N.B., mother-in-law, Rosemary Tucker, of Blackville, N.B., brothers- and sisters-in-law, Mary Dowling, of St. Andrews, N.B., Sheila Tucker, of Oak Hill, N.B., Milton (Joan) Tucker, of Blackville, N.B., Lee (Pauline) Tucker, of Miramichi, N.B., Linus (Louise) Tucker, of Oak Hill, N.B., Dorothy Tucker, of Oak Haven, N.B., and John (Cheryl) Tucker, of Miramichi, N.B.; his aunt, Pauline Rayner, of Calais, Me.; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Charles Edward.

Mundie, Mary Evelyn
At Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews, N.B., on Dec. 13, 2008, Mary Evelyn Mundie, of St. Stephen, N.B. She was the wife of the late Norman Edgar Mundie and daughter of the late Thedore and Jennie (McRay) Little.
Survived by four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers; several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her son, Milton, and daughter-in-law, Sandra.

Interment at Lynnfield Cemetery, Lynnfield, N.B.

Day, Elsie Eva
Elsie Eva Day, wife of Raymond Day, of St. Stephen, N.B., passed away peacefully at Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Dec. 14, 2008 after a period of failing health, with family by her side. Born in St. Andrews, N.B., on March 4, 1920, daughter of the late Joseph V. and Effie (Greenlaw) Gibson.
She was a graduate of Prince Arthur School and played on the girls high school hockey team.
An ardent golfer, she was a past member of the St. Croix Golf and Country Club, NB Senior Ladies Golf Association and Canadian Ladies Golf Association. She was a member of Christ Church and, in her younger days, taught Sunday School and was a youth leader.
In addition to her husband of 64 years, she is survived by her daughter, Lorraine, and husband, Ron Richard, and granddaughter, Tara, of Calgary, Alta.; brother, Jack Gibson, of St. Andrews, N.B.; sister, Ellen (George) Taylor, of Dartmouth, N.S.; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Juneau, and her daughters, Annabelle Juneau and Mary Lou (Blaine) Delong, as well as several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Flight Lieutenant Joseph Gibson-DFC; sisters, Ruth (Gilbert) Moffitt, Phyliss (George) Barter, Charlotte Gibson, and Shirley (Frank) Cunningham.
Resting at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., with visiting hours to be held on Tuesday, Dec. 16, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Matthews, Phillip John
At Calais Regional Hospital, Calais, Me., on Dec. 13, 2008, Phillip John Matthews, of Calais, Me. He was the husband of Mary Patricia Matthews and son of the late Stewart Leroy and Kathleen Vivian (Tucker) Matthews.
Survived by his wife; three daughters, Shelley (Charles) Doomer, of New Jersey, Kathy Shriver (Robert), of Philadelphia, Pa.; and Margaret Verespy (Philip), of Pine Hill, N.J.; eight grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren; two brothers, William Matthews (Wanda), of Saint John, N.B., and Paul Matthews (Gail), of Scarborough, Ont.; sister, Pauline Foote (Glenn), of Peterborough, Ont.; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, James Matthews, and sister, Margaret Sullivan.
There will be no visitation by request.
