Lindsay, Clayton Vincent
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N..B, Clayton Vincent Lindsay passed away on, Nov. 9, 2008; husband of Hazel M. (Brown) Lindsay, of Andersonville, N.B., son of the late Cecil B. and Helen M. (Scott) Lindsay.
Survived by his wife, Hazel; one daughter, Sabrina Lindsay (Bobby), St. Stephen, N.B.; one son, Jason Lindsay, Andersonville, N.B.; one brother, Calvin Scott (Theresa Brown), Andersonville, N.B., several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by one sister, Velma Gardner.
Resting at the S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., from where funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008 at 2 p.m.
Interment at Lynnfield Cemetery, Lynnfield, N.B.
Visiting hours were held at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Cancer Society or charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
Stevens, Kenneth George –
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B. Kenneth George Stevens passed away on Friday, Nov.. 7, 2008; son of the late K. Albert and Florence (McGuire) Stevens.
Survived by his wife Patricia (Gray) Stevens; three sons: Mark (Jennifer), of St. Stephen, N.B., Matthew, of Ottawa, Ont., and Michael, of St. Stephen, N.B.; one daughter, Shawnee Stevens, of Ottawa, Ont.; one grandchild, Mallory; five sisters; Janice Rains (Fred), California, Anita Chisholm (Kenneth), Oak Hill, N.B., Mary Bonnell, Saint John, N.B., June Kowalcyzk (Richard), Toronto, Ont., Phylis Nixon (Donald), Rollingdam, N.B.; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral service was held from the S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B. on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008 at 2 p.m..
Visitation was at the funeral home on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008. Interment took place at the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Charlotte County Cancer Fund or charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
Wright, Derrick Clive
Surrounded by the love of his family, Derrick Clive Wright passed away at the Charlotte County Hospital, in St. Stephen, N.B., on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at the age of 73. Born in Shawinagan, Que., he was the son of the late Stephen William and Mary Isabel Wright, and husband of Sheila Wright.
Derrick is survived by his wife, Sheila; son, Eoin S. Wright, of Halifax, N.S.; daughter, Cassandra L. Smith (David), of St. Stephen, N.B.; stepdaughters, Rhoda Roy, of Victoria, B.C., and Shelley McKeeman (Farren) and Michelle Roy, of St. Stephen, N.B.; grandchildren, Jessica, Kayla, Tara and Ryan Smith, and stepgrandchildren, Tracy and Ashley McKeeman, Joey Babcock, and Daniel and Jeremy Wilson.
Derrick enjoyed an active careeer with Maritime Tel and Tel (Aliant) for many years until his retirement. He was happiest when he was keeping busy with home projects and had a love for travel as well as music and dancing. He found happiness in his many new friends and acquaintances here in St. Stephen, N.B.
A private memorial service will be held for immediate family and friends.
Huntley, Lottie Loleta
Lottie Loleta (Bishop) Huntley, 93, of St. Andrews, N.B., passed away peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Nov. 13, 2008, surrounded by her loving family.
Lottie was born in Chipman, N.B., Jan. 9, 1915 and raised in Moncton. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Ethel (Demmons) Bishop, and was the last remaining member of her immediate family. She moved from Moncton to Grand Manan, N.B., after marrying Vance Rupert Huntley in 1933. She raised her family on Grand Manan, then later moved to Eastport, Me., where she was an active community member.
Upon retirement, she and Vance lived in St. Andrews, N.B., where they enjoyed their remaining years together.
Lottie loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was passionate about her church, Bible study, her bridge games and the quilting groups she belonged to for many years. She made many friends through these organizations, all of whom will miss her. Lottie was a member of Pythian Sisters, St. Andrews Seniors, Spindrifters, Shiretown Quilters, St. Andrews Baptist Church, Ladies Bible Study Group, Baptist Quilters, and International Square Dancers Association.
Lottie’s special love was her family. She will be mourned by daughters, Joyce Tatton and her husband, Gene, of St. Andrews, N.B., Jacqueline Cowie and her husband, Eugene, of Kingston, N.S., and Janet Ingersoll of North Head, Grand Manan, N.B.; and her son, Albion Huntley and his wife, Pauline, of South Portland, Me. Lottie will be greatly missed by her 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Lottie was predeceased by two grandchildren; her husband, Vance; and her son, Robert.
Visitation in Lottie’s honour was held at the St. Andrews Baptist Church, King Street, St. Andrews, N.B., on Friday, Nov. 14.
Funeral service was held at the church on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at 2 p.m.
Interment took place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Grand Manan, N.B. on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008 at 1 p.m.

Johnston, Raymond Dale
At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, Raymond Dale Johnston, beloved husband of Geri Anne (McVicar) Johnston, of Utopia, N.B. Born in Blacks Harbour, N.B., on July 24, 1958, he was a son of Albert Johnston of Utopia and the late Edith (Anthony) Johnston.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, he is survived by his wife, Geri; two daughters, Jennifer (Michael) Johnston-Holland, of Utopia, N.B., and Amanda (Derek) Johnston-Cosman, of L’Etang, N.B.; his father, Albert Johnston, of Utopia, N.B.; three granddaughters, Krysten, Maria and Isabella; five brothers, Howard (Wanda), of Nova Scotia, Donnie (Lena), of Moncton, N.B., Graeme (Joanne), of Rollingdam, N.B., Gordon (Melina), of Back Bay, N.B., and David (Kim), of Saint John, N.B.; two sisters, Rose (George), of Boston, Mass., and Ellen (Laurie), of Moncton, N.B.; several brothers and sisters-in-law, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his mother, Edith; one sister, Joyce Leavitt; and one brother, Sonny.
Raymond was a metal fabricator by trade, having worked for a few years at Lake Utopia Fabricators and for himself. He was an animal lover and an avid hunter who loved his companion, Taz, and lived for his family and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed not only by his immediate family, but by the McVicar family as well.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home and Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., from where the service will be held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Keith Osborne officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
Butler, Avonelle Marcella
The passing of Avonelle Marcella Butler, formerly of Deer Island, N.B., residing in St. Stephen, N.B., occurred early morning, Nov. 12, 2008, peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., with family by her side. She was born Aug. 14, 1921.
Avonelle was raised with four brothers. She attended school and took a hairdressing course. She was married when she was 20 years old, and had one beautiful daughter, whom she loved dearly. She was her best friend.
After marriage, she worked as a homemaker until she later moved to Moncton to work in the Coverdale Correctional Centre for eight years. She then retired back to Deer Island, but became bored and worked at the salmon factory until it closed.
Avonelle then moved to St. Stephen in 1990. Avonelle was a resident of Lincourt Manor for the last couple years, where many of her close friends and family spent memorable time with her.
Survived by her grandsons, Reid Pirie (Melanie Pirie), of Deer Island, N.B., and Bruce Pirie (Trisha Roy), of St. Stephen, N.B.; son-in-law and dear friend, Timothy A. Roy; great- grandson, Cody Pott, of Ottawa, Ont.; many friends and caregivers of Lincourt Manor.
Predeceased by her father, Warren Hathaway Fountain, Jr., and mother, Annie (Richardson) Fountain.
In addition to her parents, Avonelle was predeceased by her daughter, Lynn Janine Pirie; brothers, Sheldon, Gorman, Randolph and Glenn; great-grandchildren, Bodhi and Payten Pirie.
There will be a service held at Cummings Cove, Deer Island, N.B., on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008 at 1 p.m., for close friends and family.

Benson, James Wilfred
James Wilfred Benson, of Seal Cove, Grand Manan Island, N.B., was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 14, 2008 at the age of 78; born of the late Walter and Kate (Benson) Benson, in Seal Cove, N.B.
Jimmy served the Lord and was a family man first and foremost. He was a faithful member of the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church family, was a deacon and also an usher at the church. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, and for many years was well known in the Bay of Fundy fishing community as the captain of the Connors Brothers sardine carrier Haven Lady. His warm friendly smile will be missed by his many friends and neighbours.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Frances (Cook) Benson, at home; his three daughters, Kathy (Stephen) Brewer, of Keswick Ridge, N.B., Denise (Dana) Brown, of North Head, N.B., and Joanne (Alex) Daggett, of Quispamsis, N.B.; also his son, Pete (Ginnie) Benson, of Nashville, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Alfred and Cameron.
Visiting was held from Ells Funeral Home on Sunday.
The funeral service was held on Monday, Nov. 17, 2008 at 2 p.m., from the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church with Rev. Ward McComiskey officiating.
Interment followed at the Spruce Grove Cemetery.
Jimmy’s family has requested donations may be made to the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church, the Grand Manan Nursing Home, Gideon’s, or Bethany Bible College.

Anderson, John “Jack” Dennis
At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on Nov. 22, 2008, John "Jack" Dennis Anderson, husband of Sandra (Lawson) Anderson, of St. George, N.B. Born at Saint John, N.B., on Feb. 13, 1937, he was a son of the late Keith and Doris (Davis) Anderson.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Jack is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; two daughters, Deborah Frances Anderson, of St. Andrews, N.B., and Denise Elizabeth Anderson, of St. George, N.B.; one son, Keith George Anderson, of Montreal, Que.; one granddaughter, Katrina Louise Anderson, of St. George, N.B.; two brothers, David K. Anderson, of Pocologan, N.B., and Keith R. (Lil) Anderson, of Hamilton, Ont.; one stepson, Larry (Wendy) Tatton, of Bethel, N.B., and their children, Jessie, Shyanne and Colin; two nieces, one nephew, and several cousins.
He was predeceased by one sister, June Anderson.
Prior to his retirement, Jack served with the Canadian Armed Forces for 33 years, where he entered as a Weapons Tech., beginning in Kingston, Ont., with the Black Watch. From there he served as an Artilleryman in various cities across Canada, finally retiring from Long Pointe, Montreal, as a Master Warrant Officer. During his career with the Armed Forces, he served in many operations, including the October Crisis in 1970.
He was an avid fisherman who loved building bird houses and wood crafts from his workshop and spending time with his granddaughter, Katrina, who assisted him. He also enjoyed taking drives with his family in the country, as he enjoyed nature.
By Jack’s request, there will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008 at 2 p.m., from St. Mark’s Anglican Church, St. George, N.B., with Rev. Mary Ann Langmaid officiating.
In John’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
