MacFarlane, Reta Vivian
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, Reta Vivian (Estey) MacFarlane, of St. Stephen, N.B., wife of the late Robert Jerome MacFarlane. Born in St. Stephen, N.B., she is the daughter of the late Eldon and Ida Estey.
For many years Reta was self-employed as a hairstylist in the St. Andrews area. She was a member of the St. Stephen Presbyterian Church.
Reta is survived by her two sons, Ronald, of St. Stephen, N.B., and Richard and his wife, Louise, of St. Andrews, N.B.; cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one brother, Ron Estey.
By Reta’s request, there will be no visitation.
Cremation will take place.
A service of remembrance will be held in the spring at St. Stephen Presbyterian Church, with a reception to follow in the church hall. The interment will take place at that time in St. Andrews Rural Cemetery. Time and date of service will be announced in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Passamaquoddy Lodge would be appreciated by the family.

Snow, Mary Jane
Mary Jane Snow, of Riverview, N.B., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009 at the Moncton Hospital, Moncton, N.B., with her loving family at her side. Born May 27, 1930 in St. Stephen, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Sam and Carrie (Monaghan) Mehan.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Weldon (of what would have been 53 years of marriage on Friday, Feb. 20); her daughter, Cathy Berry (Kevin), of Riverview, N.B.; three sons: Michael (Cindy), Ottawa, Ont., John, of Langley, B.C., and Jeff, of Riverview, N.B.; her grandchildren, Lacey, Justin, Taryn, Jenna, Matthew and Johnathon; and one great-granddaughter, Kalley; and a sister, Isobel Parker, of St. Andrews, N.B.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth and Annie.
The funeral took place from Cobb’s Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009 at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Brent Ham officiating. A reception followed.
There was no public visitation by personal request.
The interment took place at Alderwood Cemetery.
The funeral arrangements were under the direction of Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview, N.B.
Donations to the N.B. Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
Mulder, Henry (Hank)
Henry Mulder, of St. Andrews, N.B., passed away suddenly in his 70th year, while on vacation with his family on St. George Island, Florida, on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009.
Born in The Netherlands, Henry will be forever missed by his wife, Jantje (Jan) Blokhuis-Mulder; daughter Andrea Mulder-Slater,; friend and son-in-law, Geoff Slater; and granddaughter, Jannique Slater.
Henry is also survived by sisters, Tjits Vink (Klaas), of Alberta, and Swaantje Vanderwoude (Ike), of Ontario; as well as brother and sisters-in-law, Lucy Mulder, of British Columbia, Trix and Steef Hopman of The Netherlands, Gerda and Andy Vandenhaak of Alberta, Art and Jackie Blokhuis of Ontario, Clarence and Marsha Blokhuis of Ontario, Jan Blokhuis and Bette McKinley of Alberta, Walter Blokhuis of St. Andrews, Wilma Blokhuis of St. Andrews, Irene Blokhuis and Ken Grosskurth of Ontario, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Henry is predeceased by his parents, Andries and Gezina Mulder, and his brother, Richard Mulder.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service and reception on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 3 p.m., at the St. Andrews Baptist Church, St. Andrews, N.B.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre CLASS Program for Children.
Arseneault, Theresa Marie
At Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Jan. 25, 2009, Theresa Marie Arseneault, of St. Stephen, N.B.; wife of the late Joseph Sylvan Arseneault and daughter of the late Joseph and Edna (Johnston) Richard.
Survived by her children, Mary Ann Chambers, David Arseneault, Cyril Arseneault (Linda), Jimmy Arseneault, Mina Little (Wayne), Nancy Arseneault and Denise Trafton (Danny), all of St. Stephen, N.B.; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, four sisters, two brothers, several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009 at 11 a.m., from Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, St. Stephen, N.B.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home, 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B.

Weatherby, Melvin Joseph
After a long, courageous battle with his health, Melvin Joseph Weatherby (Mel) died on Jan. 21, 2009 at Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen, N.B., at the age of 88. He was the husband of the late Mona Theresa (McShane) Weatherby and the son of the late George and Pearl (Kilpatrick) Weatherby.
He is survived by two sons: Allan (Debi) Weatherby and Bob Weatherby; two daughters, Sandra (Gerald) McCrossin and Betty (Brent) Calder, all of St. Stephen, N.B.; brother-in-law, James McShane, St. Stephen, N.B.; sisters-in-law, Juanita (Dick) Dickerson, of Oromocto, N.B., Geraldine (Harvey) Childs, of Calais, Me., Geraldine (Carl) McShane and Cairine (Harold) McShane, all of St. Stephen, N.B.; grandchildren: Christopher (Kelly) McCrossin, Karla (Pete) McCrossin, Stephanie Weatherby, Emily Weatherby and Ryan Weatherby; two step-granddaughters, Pam (Trevor) MacMillan and Melanie (Mike) Duffy; two great-grandchildren, Ty and Kali Weatherby; four step-great-grandchildren, Danielle and Dustin Hawkins, Jordyn MacMillan and Evan Noddin; and a special friend, Maxine Garnett.
He was predeceased by his wife, parents, infant grandson, Kevin McCrossin, and his sister, Lois (Ralph) Nutter.

At Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Dec. 28, 2008, Marian Josephine MacGillivray, of St. Stephen, N.B. She was the wife of the late Sydney Lloyd MacGillivray, and daughter of the late Willard and Sadie (Dick) McBride.
Survived by her children, Jean McLay, of St. Stephen, N.B., Bob McLay, of St. Andrews, N.B., and Norma Feeney (Don), of Fall River, N.S., 13 grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband; one son, Billy McLay; and one daughter, Margaret McKeen.

At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on Dec. 27, 2008, Carmen Michael Ciardullo, of Waweig, N.B.; husband of Sharon Lee (Miller) Ciardullo and son of Assunta (Spadafora) Ciardullo and the late Alberto Ciardullo.
Survived by his wife; one son, Jason Marc, of Toronto, Ont.; his mother; one brother, two sisters, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at 2 p.m., from St. George’s Anglican Church, McAdam, N.B.

Kelly, Beryl May, R.N.
Beryl May Kelly (nee Maxwell), 93, died peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at Carleton Lodge, Ottawa, Ont. Born in St. George, Charlotte County, N.B., on May 5, 1915, Beryl was the eldest child of Leroy and Della Maxwell.
She was a registered nurse who graduated from Saint John General Hospital and was in the Canadian Army Medical Corps, although illness kept her from serving overseas in World War II.
Beryl was predeceased by husband, Dr. Charles Wendell Kelly, in 1971, and son, James Donald Kelly, in 1985.
She is survived by sister, Sheila Langmaid, of St. George, N.B.; son, Dr. Patrick Kelly; daughter-in-law, Dr. Melanie Pratt; and grandchildren: Jessica, James and Sean, of Ottawa, Ont.; three nephews: Peter Maxwell, of Dartmouth, N.S., Robert Wright, of Fenwick, Ont., and Wilfred Langmaid, of Fredericton, N.B.; and one niece, Ann Maxwell, of St. George, N.B.
Special thanks are extended to Dr. John Russell and to the caring staff at Carleton Lodge for their excellent care.
Arrangements will be made at a later date for a funeral service at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in Fredericton, N.B., with interment in the family plot.
Guptill, Blanche Gertrude
Blanche Gertrude Guptill, 91, of Grand Harbour, Grand Manan, N.B., passed away peacefully at the Grand Manan Hospital on Friday morning, Jan. 23, 2009, with her family by her bedside. Born in Tiverton, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Capen and Vivian (Morse) Ossinger of Tiverton and White Head Island, N.B.
Mrs. Guptill was a very loving mother and grandmother to her family and extended family. She was a devoted member of the Grand Harbour Baptist Church and also the United Baptist Ladies Missionary Society. Prior to her sickness, she was an active member of the Happy Hour Seniors Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Lorraine Greene (Dennis) and Patricia (Patsy) Lyon (Tony); one son, Gary Guptill (Carole), all of Grand Harbour, N.B.; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bion Lee (Jack) in 1987. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Laleah Brown and Helen Morehouse; one brother, Mabury Ossinger; and one grandson, Norman Wade.
The family received friends and relatives at Ells Funeral Home, Grand Harbour on Saturday.
The funeral service was held from the Grand Harbour Baptist Church, Grand Harbour, N.B., on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Ron Ford officiating.
Interment followed in the family plot at Maple Grove Cemetery, Castalia.
