Nason, Nola Diane

Nola Diane (Jipson) Nason, of McAdam, N.B., passed away on March 31, 2009 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, N.B. She was born Jan. 26, 1958 at Lincoln, Me., daughter of Colleen (McCormick) Jipson and the late Calvin E. Jipson.
Nola attended Lincoln schools and graduated in 1976 from Mattanawcook Acadamy. Nola worked at the former Oliveri Restaurant and Atlantic Rehab for eight years as a cook.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Randal Nason; two sons, Norman E. “Billy” (Courtney) Nason, of St. Stephen, N.B., and Thomas J. Nason, of McAdam, N.B.; one daughter, Sarah Nason, of McAdam, N.B.; granddaughter, Olivia Diane Nason; her mother, Colleen Jipson, of Lincoln, Me.; brother, Colin (Diane) Jipson; four sisters, Kathleen (Doug) Pinkham and Vicki (Stewart) Vermillion, both of Lincoln, Me., Linda (Craig) Smith, of Asheville, N.C., and Kelly (Frank) Wakefield, of Burlington, Me.; mother-in-law, Elaine Nason, of McAdam, N.B.; sister-in-law, Cindy (Calvin) Calhoun, of Canterbury, N.B.; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
She was predeceased by her father-in-law, Norman “Bill” Nason, and her nephew, C.J. Smith.
Resting at the Rockland Drive United Baptist Church, McAdam, N.B., from where funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 2 p.m.
Interment at Rockland Cemetery, McAdam, N.B.
Visiting hours will be held at the Rockland Drive United Baptist Church on Friday April 3, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Greene, Terry Lee

With her family by her side, Terry Lee Greene went to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at her home in Wilson’s Beach, Campobello, N.B., after a long illness. She was born in Machias, Me., on Dec. 16, 1944, the daughter of the late Harold Gardner and Rowena (London) Gardner.
Terry is survived by her three loving children: Trevor Green and wife, Jodie, of St. Stephen, N.B., Mac Greene and wife, Michelle, of Wilson’s Beach, N.B., and daughter, Tracy Cline and husband, Gerald (Jeff), of Welshpool, N.B.; seven loving grandchildren: Brendan and Megan Greene, of St. Stephen, N.B., Jeremy and Jessica Greene, of Wilson’s Beach, N.B.; and Nicholas, Jeffrey and Jordan Cline, of Welshpool, N.B.; one precious great-granddaughter, Larissa Cline, of Welshpool, N.B.; stepmother, Edith Gardner; along with two sisters, Susan Aldrich, of Lubec, Me., and Mary Hopkins, of Bath, Me.; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, M. Afton Greene.
Terry lived in Lubec with her grandparents, Cavalier and Clara London, until she graduated high school. After marrying, she moved to Campobello where she was well-known and respected in the community.
Upon having children, she remained at home to raise them, returning to work at the Bank of Nova Scotia, and retiring in 2001.
She was very active and involved with the Friends of Head Harbour Light Station, Baptist church committees, and various fundraising groups. She loved being outside gardening and whale watching, and enjoying the birds that visited her feeders. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Wilson’s Beach United Baptist Church, Wilson’s Beach, N.B., on May 8, 2009 at 2 p.m.
A reception will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charlotte County Cancer Society.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Humphreys’ Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, N.B.

Greene, James Edwin (Jimmy)

James Edwin (Jimmy) Greene, 80, of Ingalls Head, Grand Manan, N.B., passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital on Monday morning, May 4, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Douglas and Ruth (Lounder) Greene of Ingalls Head, N.B.
Jimmy was a well-known painting contractor and worked in many homes on the Island for over 60 years. In his spare time he was an avid reader, enjoyed music, artwork, and Sunday morning visits with his brothers. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Betty-Jean Greene; one daughter, Theresa Green (Kendall), of Saint John, N.B.; one son, Timothy Greene, of Grand Harbour, N.B.; two sisters, Betty Ingalls (Ray), and Mildred Locke, both of Ingalls Head, N.B.; four brothers, Carman (Mary), of North Head, N.B., Winston (Melva), Gary (Maxine) and Burtis (Mary) Greene, all of Ingalls Head, Grand Manan, N.B.; and one half-brother, David Voutt, of St. Stephen, N.B., as well
as one grandchild and two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was predeceased by his first wife, Edwina, in 1981; one brother, Douglas; and one son, Kenneth.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Ells Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 5, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held from the Central Wesleyan Church, on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Kirk Perry officiating, assisted by Rev. Dana Dean.
Interment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Castalia.
Donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society would be appreciated.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Ells Funeral Home, 1199 Route 776, Grand Manan, NB E5G 1G2.

Kennedy, Mary Frances

At Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews, N.B., March 19, 2009, Mary Frances Kennedy, wife of the late Isaac Harry Kennedy. She was the daughter of the late Allen Hall and Edith Louise (Logan) Getchell.
Survived by her son, Lt. Col. Allen Kennedy, of Nasonworth, N.B., nieces and nephews.
Interment will take place at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery, St. Stephen, N.B., on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 10:30 a.m.

Uhlman, Thomas Edward

At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on May 5, 2009, Mr. Thomas Edward Uhlman, husband of the late Mrs. Frances Marie (Gould) Uhlman, of Pennfield, N.B.
Friends are welcome to attend a time of visitation at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., on Saturday from 7-9 p.m.
The service will be held on Sunday, May 10, 2009 at 3 p.m., from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel at the funeral home, with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s memory to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Cooke, Lloyd Richard

Most people will remember Lloyd Richard Cooke as an aquaculture pioneer and astute shellfish entrepreneur, but those closest to Lloyd will remember the everyday human acts that set him apart.
He called his son and daughter every day. Lloyd was a devoted father to Everett and Catherine and a loving grandfather to two-year-old Evan.
Lloyd was there for the children of others, too. A Boy Scout leader for many years, he took Scouts from Charlotte County to jamborees in Atlantic Canada, Calgary and England.
In the community, Lloyd was known for his business savvy and entrepreneurial spirit. The owner
of Cooke’s Shellfish Ltd., in Mascarene, he was a successful businessman in Charlotte County’s aquaculture industry. He was also one of the region’s first fish farmers. Lloyd bought and sold fish throughout Atlantic Canada and New England and he processed clams, mussels, crabs, lobsters and periwinkles. He employed many St. George area residents through his company and for many years he operated a substantial clam business out of Stephenville, Nfld.
Longtime St. George residents will recall that in his earlier years, Lloyd operated a freight depot for CP Express, and delivered freight throughout Charlotte County. He was also a distributor of Island Fertilizer for several years, operating out of the same location.
Prior to that, Lloyd worked as a butcher at Emily Stewart Groceries, which was owned by his mother-in-law at the time. Lloyd worked with Emily until she sold the store.
Lloyd was born on March 29, 1940, in Blacks Harbour, N.B. He died at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., as the result of a stroke. He was 69 years old.
In addition to his children and grandchild, Everett (Kim Cleghorn), of St. George, N.B., and Catherine (Peter McBride), of St. Stephen, N.B., and Evan, he leaves wife, Carolyn; three brothers, Bernard, Gifford and Ronnie; several nephews, nieces, cousins and special friends, Ann and Grady Middleton.
He was predeceased by his sister, Marjorie; his brothers, Hazen and Ernest; his father, Percy; his mother, Maretta; his nephew, Danny Steeves; and niece, Susan Justason.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., from where the service will be held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Jody McBeth officiating.
Visiting at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Furrow, Burdette Thomas

At Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on May 7, 2009, Burdette Thomas Furrow, of St. Stephen, N.B.
Survived by two sons, Rick Marshall and Roddy Marshall; one daughter, Karen Firlotte; grandchildren: Tammy Firlotte, Nicole Filman, Lisa Marshall, Bobby Firlotte, Todd Marshall, Courtney Marshall, Tyler Marshall and Lorin Marshall; great-grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd Furrow, McAdam, N.B.; nieces and nephews.
No visitation or funeral service will be held by request.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Cancer Society or charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Hooper, Evelyn Lois

The graveside service for the late Evelyn Lois Hooper, of L’Etete, N.B., who passed away Jan. 11, 2009, will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the St. George Rural Cemetery, St. George, N.B.

Ingalls, Terrance David

At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on May 6, 2009, Mr. Terrance David Ingalls, husband of Mrs. Linda (Harris) Ingalls, of Pennfield, N.B. Born in London, England, on June 30, 1946, he was a son of the late Irvin and Catherine (Jeffreys) Ingalls.
A loving husband and brother, in addition to his loving wife, Linda, Terrance is survived by one brother, Jeffrey Ingalls, of St. Stephen, N.B., and several cousins.
In his spare time, Terrance loved to work with electronics and as a career he was a TV repairman. He had a love for his cats and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., from where the service was held on Monday, May 11, 2009 at 2 p.m., from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating.
Visiting was held at the funeral home on Sunday evening.
In Terrance’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Leavitt, Beverley Preston

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service for the late Beverley Preston Leavitt, of L’Etang, N.B., at the St. George Rural Cemetery, St. George, N.B., on Friday, May 15, 2009 at 3 p.m.
Following the service, a reception will be held at the St. Mark’s Anglican Church hall, St. George.
Arrangements are under the care of the St. George Funeral Home and Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B.

Leavitt, Florence Mildred

Peacefully, at the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour, N.B., on May 9, 2009, Mrs. Florence Mildred (McGarrigle) Leavitt, wife of the late John G. Leavitt, of Blacks Harbour, N.B., formerly of Back Bay, N.B. Born in St. George, N.B., on August 13, 1930, she was a daughter of the late James and Seretha (Leavitt) McGarrigle.
A loving mother, grandmother and sister, Florence is survived by three sons: Aldon (Miko) Leavitt, of L’Etang, N.B., Jerry (Carol) Leavitt, and Gary (Cindy) Leavitt, both of Back Bay, N.B.; three daughters: Shirley Wilcox, of Utopia, N.B., Janet (Brad) Henderson, of Seeleys Cove, N.B., and Martha (Garfield) Hawkes, of Back Bay, N.B.; 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; brothers: Gerald McGarrigle, of Blacks Harbour, N.B.; Wesley (Pam) McGarrigle, of St. Stephen, N.B., and Kenneth (Juanita) McGarrigle, of Blacks Harbour, N.B.; one sister, Emma Maillet, of Blacks Harbour, N.B.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, John, she was predeceased by sisters, Mary Walsh, Linda Matheson and Doris Nason, and brothers, Lorne, James, William and Everett.
Florence was a loving soul who enjoyed spending time at home with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to watch TV and cook, and found joy in feeding the ducks. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., with visiting held on Sunday and Monday.
The service will be held from the Sea View Full Gospel Church, Back Bay, N.B., on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating, followed by interment at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery.
In Florence’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
