Genge, Rev. Canon David
Rev. Canon David Genge passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on Aug. 12, 2009 in his 81st year. Born in St. John’s, Nfld., he was educated at Bishop Field College, Dalhousie University, Memorial University (from where he lectured in physics for some time) and finally studied at Bishops University, where he received his masters in Theology. He attended classes for the priesthood at Queen’s College, Newfoundland, and served in parishes in Newfoundland, Quebec and New Brunswick. He also worked with the Canadian Bible Society in Newfoundland.
In his younger years, he enjoyed playing soccer and is a member of the Newfoundland Tennis Hall of Fame.
Since retirement, he remained active, filling in at several vacant parishes and was an active member of the Kiwawis Club and the Elizabeth Fry Society.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Joan (Woolridge) Genge; son, Peter (Ngaire), and grandson, Michael; daughters, Heather (David) Bertin and Joanne Genge; his three remaining brothers, Anthony, Bruce and Bishop Mark (Maxine) Genge; as well as a large circle of relations and friends.
He was predeceased by his brother, Nelson, and by his grandson, David Edward Genge.
Following cremation, there was visiting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., on Saturday from 2-9 p.m., with a service to celebrate his life at Christ Church (Anglican), Pennfield, N.B., on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009 at 4:30 p.m.
Interment followed at the church cemetery.
Following the interment, a reception was held at the Pennfield Lions Club.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit, Floor 3BN at the SJRH as well as the many friends who volunteered to stay with David when needed.
The family requests that in Rev. Canon Genge’s memory, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Nichols, Dominic “Don” Michael
Suddenly on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009. Dominic Michael “Don” Nichols of St. Stephen, N.B., husband of Peggy (Wetmore) Nichols. Born in Yarmouth, N.S., he was the son of the late Dominic and Julia (Surette) Nichols.
A longtime resident of St. Stephen, Don was the owner and proprietor of his own courier service. He also served approximately 18 years on the Planning Advisory Committee for the Town of St. Stephen. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter 6507, St. Stephen. He had also served a term as Grand Knight.
Don took great joy in his retirement and an even great joy in the love of his grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Peggy, are his children, Cheryl Nichols MacLean (Jason), of Toronto, Ont., Brian ( fiancée Shawna Gullison) and Kevin (Jennifer), all of Calgary, Alta.; four grandchildren, Lei Lani, Kailee, Marissa and Matthew; two sisters, Sheila Nichols, of Yarmouth, N.S. and Mary Duffus, of Plymouth, N.S., Yarmouth County; cousins, nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of Humphreys’ Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, N.B. from where the visitation was held on Sunday, Aug. 16. A prayer service was conducted at the funeral home on Sunday evening by the Knights of Columbus Council No. 6507.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, Aug. 17, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church. Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. John Keoughan. Special music was given by the church choir, accompanied by organist Mary Lou Graham. Prayers of intercession were given by brother-in-law, David Wetmore. Scriptures were read by niece, Natalie Barnes and Marcia Dionne. A special tribute of rememberance was given by Shawna Gullison.
Pallbearers were Joseph Marc LaPlante, Wayne Westhaver, Dick Caswell and John Dionne.
A reception followed the mass in the church hall.
The interment will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 26 in Port Maitland Beaver River Cemetery, in Nova Scotia.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Holy Rosary Church, St. Stephen, would be appreciated by the family.
Kelley, Douglas Perley
At Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., Aug. 19, 2009, Douglas Perley Kelley, husband of Dorothy L. (Nelson) Kelley, of St. Stephen, N.B. Son of the late Joseph G. and Frances (Waycott) Kelley.
Survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Kenneth Kelley (Lynn), St. David Ridge, N.B. and Timothy Kelley (Suzanne), Calais, Me.; two grandchildren, Sean and Scott Kelley, Calais, Me.; several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by one son, Douglas Kelley.
Graveside service was held at the Calais City Cemetery, Calais, Me., on Monday, Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. (Can. time), 10 a.m. (U.S. time).

Davidson, Lillian Velma
At the Campobello Lodge Nursing Home, Campobello, N.B. on Aug. 26, 2009, Ms. Lillian Velma Davidson, formerly of Deer Island, N.B. Born at Robbinston, Me., on April 6, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Edwood and Lavina (Johnson) Davidson.
A loving sister and aunt, she is survived by one brother, Eugene (Ellen) Johnson, of St. Stephen, N.B.; sister-in-law, Shirley Johnson, of Saint John, N.B.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by four brothers: Ronald, Chester, Dale and Conrad, and by one sister, Dorothy Richardson.
Lillian worked as a sardine packer for many years both at Fairhaven, N.B., and Robbinston, Me. She was a member of the Leonardville Church of Christ and taught Sunday school for over 50 years. She was a life member of the Leonardville Women’s Institute and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at the Leonardville Church of Christ, Leonardville, N.B., on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, at 1 p.m., with Conrad Cline officiating, followed by
interment at the Leonardville Community Cemetery.
In Lillian’s memory, donations to the Leonardville Church of Christ, Leonardville Community Cemetery or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

McGuire, William (Bill) James
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., Aug. 21, 2009, William (Bill) James McGuire (1930-2009), of St. Stephen, N.B. He was the husband of the late Barbara Jean (Combley) and son of the late William James and Christine Mae (Egan) McGuire.
He was born in Saint John, N.B. and lived in St. Stephen, N.B., McAdam, N.B., Yarmouth, N.S., Digby, N.S., Fredericton, N.B., and Moncton, N.B., before retiring back to St. Stephen from CP Express. He was always on the go with many groups and organizations from hockey, to Lions, to Knights of Columbus and Legion in the communities where he lived.
Forever loved and missed by his daughter, Christine, of Yarmouth, N.S.; sons, Ron (Arlene), of Tower Hill, N.B., Father Bob, of Miramichi, N.B., and Eric (Sherry), of Kentville, N.S.; grandchildren, Greg, Amanda (Rick) Smith, Rebecca Libby, Roseann (Peter), Katie (Jeff) Duchesneau, Sean Libby and Julian; great-grandson, Kyle Smith; his sisters, Doreen, of Saint John, N.B., Patty (Bill) Reid, of Charlottetown, P.E.I., Judy (Allan) Dunsmore, of Calgary, Alta., Sheila, of London, Ont.; his brothers, George (Gaye), of London, Ont., Leo (Jeannette), of Stouffville, Ont., Pat (Betty), of Rothesay, N.B and Gerry (Sybil), of Gloucester, Ont.; sisters-in-law, Barb, of London, Ont., Maxine (Dick) Smith, of Fredericton, N.B.; brothers-in-law, Jim (Rossi) Hayter, of Miramichi, N.B., Jack (Judy) Nicholson, of Bathurst, N.B., Byron (Bonnie) Boyd, of Camrose, Alta., and very good friend Janet Slattery, as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Bill was predeceased by his wife, his parents, his sister Betty, his brother Ray and sister-in-law Donna Nicholson.

Russell, Deanna Nellie
Mrs. Deanna Nellie Russell passed away at her home in Woodwards Cove, Grand Manan Island, N.B., after a courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009. Born of the late John and Lois Brown on March 18, 1939, in Seal Cove, Grand Manan, N.B.
Deanna married her husband, Bernard, on Dec. 17, 1955. Together for 53 years they enjoyed loving and raising their very close-knit family. Their home always had seven or eight cars parked in the driveway, and they always had a houseful and room for more. On Saturdays everyone enjoyed Deanna's bean surprise. They took great care and pride with all of their family and spent many hours chasing the children all over to various ball games. She worked for Hovey Russell & Sons, boning smoked herring.
Deanna attended the Immanuel Pentecostal Assembly and served the Lord as a devoted Christian who lived by her faith every day.
A true example of a wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she will be missed by all of us left behind. She is survived by her husband, Bernard; three daughters: Rhonda (Chris) Hettrick, Holly (John) Ritchie and Jennifer (Grant) Linton; three sons: Phillip (Rosemary), Blaine (Julie), and Troy (Julie), all of Grand Manan, N.B.; three sisters: Edith Brown and Marilyn (Bill) Cary, both of Grand Manan, N.B., and Selinda (Murray) Ryder, of Riverview, N.B.; four brothers: George (Betty) and Johnny (Charmaine), both of Grand Manan, N.B., Sherwin (Jean), of Kingsville, Ont., and Robert (Barbara), of St. Stephen, N.B.; 23 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one sister, Leola Monroe, and one granddaughter, Bridgette Bailey Russell.
Visiting will take place on Tuesday from the Immanuel Pentecostal Assembly from 2 -4 and 7-9 p.m.
The funeral service will take place from the church on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009 at 1 p.m., with Rev. David Williston officiating and Rev. George Clark assisting. The burial will take place at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
Deanna's family has requested that memorial donations may be made to Charlotte County Cancer, or to Action Ministries.

Greenlaw, Hilda Eleanor
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Sept. 1, 2009, Hilda Eleanor (Bryant) Greenlaw, widow of Ronald A. Greenlaw, of St. Stephen, N.B.; daughter of the late Carleton John and Winnifred Mae (Crichton) Bryant.
Survived by her children: David Greenlaw (Dot), Petrolia, Ont., Betty Leavitt (Bobby), Bocabec, N.B., Joyce Bryant, Acton, Ont., Sharon Crossman (Brian), St. Stephen, N.B., Michael Greenlaw, Hamilton, Ont., Barbara Matthews, St. Stephen, N.B., and Valerie Morinville (Gaetan) Gatineau, Que.; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Jean Wiebe, Alberta, and Carlene Bryant (Steve Hulse), Kingston, Ont.; nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by daughters, Frances Eileen McConvey and Judith Doreen Greenlaw; brothers, Kenneth Bryant, Douglas Bryant and David Bryant; and sisters, Alice Demmy, Grace Donnelly and Berla Mae Bryant.
Rested at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., from where funeral service was held on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009 at 2 p.m.
Interment at Sandy Point Cemetery, Bayside, N.B.
Visiting hours were held at the funeral home Thursday, prior to the service.

Buchanan, William Frederick
Unexpectedly, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on Aug. 30, 2009, William "Bill" Frederick Buchanan, husband of Mrs. Carol (Stairs) Buchanan, of Utopia, N.B. Born in St. George, N.B., on June 21, 1937, he was the son of the late Clarence "Ted" and Mildred (Kagler) Buchanan.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and nephew, in addition to his wife, Carol, he is survived by one daughter, Lisa Buchanan (Steven Cooke), of Utopia, N.B.; one son, Randy (Rose) Buchanan, of New River, N.B.; two grandchildren, Sarah Cheney and Matthew Buchanan; one aunt, Dora Mitchell, of Tower Hill, N.B.
Bill was a welder by trade and prior to his retirement, he worked with Ocean Steel in Saint John, N.B., for 46 years and belonged to Iron Workers Union Local 809.
Bill was a quiet man who enjoyed the simple things in life like family, his friends and especially his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
At Bill’s request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home and a private graveside service will be held at the St. George Rural Cemetery at a later date.
In Bill’s memory, donations to Charlotte County Cancer or the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Mulholland, Rosemarie
Rosemarie Mulholland (nee Hanson) died Sept. 1, 2009 at Calais Regional Hospital, Calais, Me.
After graduating from Milltown High School, Milltown, N.B., she worked at Vanity Fair Beauty in St. Stephen, N.B. She married Stephen Mulholland on July 4, 1951, and had two children. She worked as an Avon representative for 35 years.
She is survived by her husband, Stephen; two sons, Larry and wife, Shelley, of Tampa, Fla., and Dean, of Princeton, Me.; one granddaughter, Erica, of Greenville, N.C.; and one grandson, Michael, of Eddington, Me.
Memorial service was held at the First Baptist Church of Milltown, Maine on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009 at 2 p.m. Reception followed at Calais Methodist Homes on Palmer Street in Calais.
In lieu of flowers, family is requesting a donation be made to the American Heart Association.
