Edward "Ed" GAUNCE
August 8, 1930 - October 9, 2007
Edward F. Gaunce (Red – Buddy) of Acamac, formerly of Grand Bay – Westfield and Harding Pt., passed away Tuesday, October 9th, 2007, at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in West Saint John on August 8th, 1930 to the late Edgar McKinney and Dorothy Gaunce, later being adopted by the late Aubrey and Jessie Gaunce.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his second wife, Carol Dawn (Estabrooks) Gaunce.
Edward is survived by, his first wife, Reva J. (Causey) Gaunce, Saint John; step–mother, Nodie McKinney, Madawaska, Maine; two sons, Brad (Vickie) Gaunce and Steve (Faye) Gaunce, both of Grand Bay – Westfield; step–son, John Johnson, Saint John; six daughters, Chris (Dave) Tibbetts and Joan (Carl) Godin; Susan (Mike) Johnson, all of Grand – Bay Westfield; Brenda Gaunce and Reva French, Saint John; Teena (Lenny) Surette, Acamac; step–daughter, Cindy Curran and companion Peter Johnson, Halifax; three sisters, Iris Teakles, Saint John; Connie Laramee, Springfield, Mass; Dasia McKinney, Madawaska, Maine; three brothers, James Gaunce, Grand Bay – Westfield; Wendal and Ricky McKinney, Madawaska, Maine; Nineteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed sports, hunting, hockey and maritime amateur championship boxing.
Edward was a former manager for the F.W. Woolworth Co., in Saint John, Moncton and Glace Bay, N.S. He was also a manager for Burma Propane Gas Co. Later he owned and operated the Freeman Detective Bureau and was 14 years a N.B. provincial constable, Commissioner of Oaths and fingerprint technician.
Edward enjoyed being a candidate provincially and federally for the N.D.P. of N.B. and donated several years as coordinator for Jackie Vautour and Expropriates of Kouchibouguac National Park. He was also a member of the Peace Officer Association, past president, secretary and executive member of R.C.L. branches #22 and #87. Edward also attended Grand Bay – Westfield Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Thursday in Castle Funeral Home (Fallsview Chapel) 309 Lancaster Ave. (634 – 1701) A tribute to a veteran’s service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m.
Funeral service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. from Castle Funeral Home (Fallsview Chapel) Burial to follow in Hardings Point Loyalist Cemetery, Grand Bay – Westfield.

Mrs. Mary E. McKinley
October 7, 1929 - October 12, 2007
Mary Edith (Eddie) McKinley, 78 of Upper Coverdale, passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy illness on Friday, October 12th, 2007. Born in Regina, Sask., she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Hall) Hamilton. She was a former employee for many years with Bruce Southerland Assoc, as an administrator and later co-owner of Seaboard Hydraulics until her retirement. She will always be remembered by her grandchildren as “grandma” and enjoyed greatly family gatherings at her house with family and friends. She took great pleasure in gardening and quiet summer evenings sitting on her back porch. She will be sadly missed by four daughters; Lynn of Toronto, Lana Oleksiuk and Christina McCarthy (Dan) of Riverview, and Dawn Smith (Laurie Bourque) of Salisbury and son Michael (Jeannie) of Calgary, AB, 23 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Eldon, brother William Hamilton and son Mark. Family and friends will gather at Fair Haven Funeral Home in the Garden View Room on Wednesday, October 17th at 3:45 p.m. prior to the graveside interment service at 4:00 p.m., to be followed by a reception in the Funeral Home. Mr. Wesley "Wes" David FOX
June 28, 1932 - July 20, 2007
Fox, Wesley “Wes” David, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, July 20th, 2007. Born on June 28th, 1932, in Saint John, New Brunswick son of the late George and Inez (Nason) Fox. Wes served five years in the Royal Canadian Navy (1952 – 1957) during which he attended the coronation of the Queen. Wes and Betty lived in Toronto, Ontario, for 12 years, during that time he was employed with Cutler – Hammer. Returning to Saint John in 1975 with his family, Wes worked for the Justice Department of the Saint John Regional Correctional Centre from where he retired after 17 years of service. Wes was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #69 and was also a member of the Old Timers Pool League, Fairville. Wes is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Betty (Fleet) Fox; son, Stan (Maureen), Gaudet, Milford; grandchildren, Josh Gaudet, Karen and Corie Fox, one great – granddaughter, Courtney O’Brien, brothers, Gary (Roz), Grand Bay; Steve, Milford; and Andy (Rossanne), Greendale; sister In – Laws, Beverly Fox, Diane Fox and Joan Fox, all of Saint John. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Wes was predeceased by, step - daughter, Linda Gaudet - Fox, three brothers, George, Jim, Donald and Raymond, sister, Joan Urquhart - Fox. The family will receive visitors from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 24th, in Castle Funeral Home (Fallsview Chapel), 309 Lancaster Avenue. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Donations are requested to go to charity of one’s choice.
Margaret Constance WALSH
January 11, 1925 - July 23, 2007
MARGARET CONSTANCE (DRISCOLL) WALSH - The death of Margaret Constance (Driscoll) Walsh, 83, of West Saint John, widow of Harry McVicar Walsh, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on July 23, 2007.
Born in West Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Daniel J. Driscoll and Mary S. (O'Neil) Driscoll.
Margaret was a life long member of Our Lady of Assumption Church.
Margaret worked at Donovan's Store prior to her marriage then was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to play bingo and cards and spending time with all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Margaret will be sadly missed by her loving family. Survived by sons, Thomas J., Daniel E. (Holly), Patrick J., Peter M. (Linda), Paul M., daughters Mary C. (Gordon) Hovey, Betty Lou (Michael) Brown, Theresa E. (Donald), Helen M. (Eddie Kane), one sister Catherine F. Burhoe, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, godson Terry Bastarache, special caregiver Brenda Grant and son-in-law Michael Weaver.
Predeceased by brothers Billy, Louis, Jim and sister Mary B. Driscoll, sons Harry J., Francis (Freckles) Walsh, daughter Margaret Ann Weaver.
Resting at Castle Funeral Home (Fallsview Chapel), 309 Lancaster Avenue, Tuesday July 24, 7 to 9 pm and Wednesday, July 25, 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 12 Noon at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Dufferin Row.
Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Margaret A. Lynds
July 1, 1922 - July 25, 2007
Margaret Alice DesBrisay (Blakeny) Lynds of Moncton, passed away after a sudden illness at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital on July 25th. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Hon. Dr. C. H. Blakeny and his wife Lilah (Lockhart). She was predeceased by her sister Phillis Rattenbury, her first husband L. G. (Dud) DesBrisay and Fred A. Lynds, her second husband.
She is survived by her son Richard DesBrisay and his wife Pat, daughter Susan Watts and her husband Douglas, six grandchildren, Craig, Julie and Laura DesBrisay, Deborah Povinelli, Christine Johnston and Katie Thomson and four great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation prior to the memorial service to be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton, on Thursday, August 2nd at 2:00 pm, reception following the service. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery. For over 60 years she was an active member of the IODE organization serving as the President of the New Brunswick Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire (IODE), President of the Westmoreland Chapter and Honorary President of the Hon. Dr. C. H. Blakeny Chapter. Donations in her memory to either the Westmoreland Chapter IODE (384-4678) or Blakeny Chapter IODE (386-1835) would be appreciated.

October 15, 1992 - July 27, 2007
passed away suddenly on Friday, July 27th, 2007 at the age 14 years. Born in Moncton, Satara was the daughter of Roger and Annette (Gallant) Steeves of Moncton. She attended Harrison Trimble High School. A member of the youth program at Hillside Baptist Church. Besides her parents, Satara is survived by her brother, Tyler at home, very special aunt & uncle Alan & Wanda Wright of Moncton, a special friend Laura Sullivan of BC, by many aunts, uncles cousins & many friends. The family would appreciate donations to the donor’s choice. Visitation will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Monday, July 30th, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, July 31st, 2007 at 2p.m. with Pastor Ben Trites officiating, burial to follow at Steeves Mountain Cemetery.
