Romeo T. Cormier
1942-2008

`At the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont of Moncton, surrounded by his family, on Friday March 14, 2008, at the age of 65, died following a courageous fight against cancer, Roméo T. Cormier, domiciled in Cap-Pelé.

Born June 25, 1942 in Cap-Pelé, he was the son of the late Tilmon and Alma (LeBlanc) Cormier. Romeo was the former owner of Seashore Fisheries. He loved to sing, hunt and play the guitar.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Loretta (Cormier) Cormier, four daughters: Sandra Landry (Louis), Charlene Vautour (Pierre), Paula Bourque (Daniel), and Pamela Cormier all of Bas Cap-Pelé; nine sisters: Claira Landry and Émilia Duguay (Ulysse) all of Bas Cap-Pelé, Elda Jones (Donald) and Majella Doiron (Rhéal) all of Cap-Pelé, Bernadette LeBlanc (Françis) of Dupuis Corner, Amanda Dupuis (Normand) of Moncton, Léona Gallant (Alphée) from Haute-Aboujagane, Huberte Thibodeau (Émile) and Albertine Albert (Alphonse) all from Cormier Village; two brothers: Charles-Omer (Bernice) of Coles Island, and Norbert of Bas Cap-Pelé; eight grandchildren: Nistelle, Bianca, Celeste, Nikolas, Jessie, Alexandre, Yan and Colin; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A sister Noëlla, as well as a brother Ernest predeceased him.

The family will receive relatives and friends starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday March 16 at the Frenette funeral home, 2642, chemin Acadie in Cap-Pelé (577-3297). Funeral mass will be held at Ste-Thérèse d'Avila RC Church in Cap-Pelé on Monday March 17, 2008 at 11 am. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visiting hours: Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until departure at 10.50 a.m.

Funeral management has been entrusted to the professional care of Frenette Shédiac Funeral Home Ltée.

Instead of the flowers, a donation to the Dr. Léon Richard oncology center or to the palliative care of the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont (862-4285) would be appreciated by the family.

Bertha Cormier
1921-2008

`At Villa du Repos, on Saturday March 15, 2008, at the age of 86, passed away Bertha Cormier, domiciled at Villa du Repos in Moncton, but formerly on Archibald Street.

Born March 17, 1921 in Grande-Digue, she was the daughter of the late Philias and Nathalie (Arsenault) Cormier.

She is survived by four daughters: Marie Stella Hendrickson (Michael) of Pointe-du-Chêne, Jeannette Knowland (Jacques) of Bouctouche, Diane Arsenault of Shediac, Nora Boudreau of Moncton; four sons: Roger Nadeau of Vancouver, Larry Tardiff of Plaster Rock, Bobby Ritchie of Toronto, Bernie Duguay of Cap-Pelé; one sister, Ella Kenny of Plaster Rock, one brother-in-law, Henri Bourgeois of Moncton; granddaughters: Tabatha and Tiffanie, as well as several other grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Three sisters: Régina Noël, Édith Bourgeois, and Aline Bourgeois, as well as a brother, Robert Cormier, predeceased her.

The family wishes to thank Aline Haché, Cécile Bariault and employees of the Villa du Repos for the care given to our mother.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral mass will be celebrated from Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption Cathedral Church in Moncton on Tuesday March 18, 2008 at 11 am. A donation to the NB Lung Association would be greatly appreciated by the family. The funeral arrangements were in the professional care of Frenette Funeral Home Ltée., 88 Church Street, Moncton.

Marguerite Leger-Pelchat
1917-2008

`At the Villa du Repos, on Sunday February 10, 2008, at the age of 90, passed away Marguerite Léger-Pelchat, domiciled at the Villa du Repos in Moncton, but formerly of Barachois.

Born July 19, 1917 in Saint-Joseph, she was the daughter of the late David and Zelma (Léger) Thériault. She was postmaster and owner of a general store in Barachois.

She is survived by a daughter, Jeannine Léger of Moncton, a son, Gérald Léger (Carmen) of Longueil, QC, four sisters: Marie-Thérèse Thériault and Sara Michalick (Ed) of Moncton, Évangeline Léger (Adrice) of Grand- Barachois, Louise Gaudet (Louis-Arthur) of Memramcook; three brothers: Camille and Aurèle (Alice) Thériault from Oakville, ON, Ulysse Thériault (Lucille) from Grand-Barachois: six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Her first spouse, Jean-Baptiste D. Léger, her second spouse, Saluste Pelchat, a brother, Eugène Thériault, as well as a sister, Juliette Gallant predeceased her.

The mortal remains are on display starting at 2 p.m. on Tuesday February 12 at Frenette Funeral Home Ltée, 396 Main Street in Shediac (532-3297). Funeral mass will be celebrated from Saint-Henri du Grand-Barachois Church on Wednesday February 13, 2008 at 2:00 pm. The burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Visiting hours: Tuesday February 12, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday February 13, from 1 p.m. until departure (1:40 p.m.).

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the House of Nazareth would be appreciated.

Philippe J. Thibodeau
1922-2008

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our father and grandfather, Philippe J. Thibodeau, domiciled in Grand-Barachois, at the age of 85, passed away at the Dr. Georges-L regional hospital. Dumont, on Sunday February 10, 2008, surrounded by his family.

Born May 22, 1922 in Robichaud, he was the son of the late Willie and Rosanne (Bourque) Thibodeau. He retired in 1987 after 27 years of service with the Employment Insurance Commission. He also worked for the Firestone Company in Moncton and for the Fisheries Department. He was a member of the Cursillo community, a founding member of the Boishébert club in Shediac, and a member of the Grand-Barachois golden age club. He was a calm man of great personal faith, and he was respected by all.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edna (Wallace) Thibodeau, two sons: Philip Jr. (Anne-Marie) and Paul of Moncton, three daughters: Kathleen Smith (Dale) of Moncton, and Debbie Gaudet (Bermont) from Grand-Barachois, Anne Marie Sommese (Dean) from Alpine, CA; eight grandchildren: Martin, Montana, Landon, Kelly Anna, Jessica, Élizabeth, Annik and Bianca; three sisters: Alma LeBlanc (late Gaspard) and Sara Babineau (late Mélème) of Shediac, and Jeanne Gaudet (Ulric) of Grand-Barachois; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, three brothers: Edgar (1931), Jean-Baptiste (1938), Camille (1972), as well as a sister, Yvonne Lirette (2000) predeceased her.

The family will receive relatives and friends starting at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 13, at Frenette Funeral Home Ltée., 396 Main Street in Shediac (532-3297). Funeral mass will be held at Saint-Henri Church, Grand-Barachois, on Thursday February 14, 2008 at 11 am. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visiting hours: Wednesday, February 13, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday, February 14, from 10 a.m. until departure at 10:40 a.m.

In lieu of the flowers, a donation to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Doris Babineau (Thibodeau)
1918-2008

Doris Babineau (Thibodeau), 89, wife of the late Mélème Babineau of Shediac, N.B. and formerly of Bas Cap-Pelé, N.B. passed away on Friday, May 16, 2008 at the Dr-Georges-L-Dumont Hospital, Moncton, N.B.

Born October 22, 1918 in St-André, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Émilienne (Léger) Bourque.

She is survived by daughter Patricia "Pat" Phillips (Larry) of Fall River, N.S., son Daniel Thibodeau (Linda) of Livonia, Michigan; step-daugther Claudette Babineau of Mississauga, ON, daughter-in-law Judy Thibodeau of Charlottetown, P.E., brother William Bourque (Dorina) of Cap-Pelé, N.B.; six grandchildren: Andrew, Ryan, Jason, Tiffany, Robyn, Scott and by several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her 1st husband Frank Thibodeau, her 2nd husband Mélème Babineau, son Robert and by two sisters: Laura and Léona Babineau .

Visitation at Funérarium Frenette, 2642 Acadie Rd., Cap-Pelé, N.B. (506)577-3297) on Monday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of departure 10:20 a.m. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Ste-Thérèse d'Avila R.C. church, Cap-Pelé, N.B. Interment will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Amherst, N.S. Special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Georges-L-Dumont Hospital for the excellent care given to Doris during her illness.

Donations to the Dr. Léon Richard Oncology Center of the Dr. Georges-L-Dumont Hospital (506)862-4285) would be appreciated.

Rev. Georges Léger
1928-2008

At the Dr. Georges-L-Dumont Hospital in Moncton on Friday, May 2, 2008, passed away Rev. Georges Léger, 80, of Kendra Street, Moncton.

Born February 4 1928, he was the adopted son of the Alban and Anna (Landry) Léger.

He is survived by a niece Roberte Melanson and his nephew Georges Émile Melanson.

A sister, Géraldine Melanson predeceased him in 1997.

He studied at the Seminary in Montréal and at St-Joseph's University. Ordained priest February 28, 1953 in Moncton. His many ministries during his career were as curate at Assumption Cathedral and Ste-Bernadette in Moncton, chaplain for Catholics Action, 1953-1957; studies in social sciences at Rome, 1957-1959; curate in Lewsiville, Grande-Digue, Sunny Brae and Pointe-du-Chêne, 1959-1967; Chaco, Argentina, 1967-1971; pastor at N.-D.-de-Grâce, 1971-1975; Cocagne, 1975-1985; Saint-Louis, 1985-1988; Matanzas in Cuba, 1988-1992; Shemogue, Port Elgin and Melrose, 1992-1993; Ste-Marie-de-Kent and St-Norbert, 1993-1998; Honduras; 2001-2002; and since 1998, retired at the Holy Cross Fathers residences in Moncton.

Remains resting Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton, Monday, from 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Cathedral, Moncton, from where the funeral mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m.

Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.

Memorial donations to the Dr. G.-L. Dumont Hospital Foundation or mass intentions would be appreciated.
