Gerald Benjamin Tomah
1960-2009

At his home on Kingsclear First Nation, on August 19, 2009, Gerald B. Tomah passed away at the age of 48. Born in Fredericton, NB, he was a son of Gertrude (Atwin) Tomah and the late Clarence Tomah. Gerald was employed at the Wulastukw Convenience Store on the Kingsclear First Nation, and a member of St. Ann’s Kingsclear Catholic Church. He was an avid dart player in the 401 Dart League, and also played Junior and Senior Hockey, as well as Softball in the Province.
He is survived by his mother Gertrude; companion Wanita Leavitt; children Rhonda Solomon (Richard Francis Jr.), Shannon Solomon, Justine and Sydney Paul all of Kingsclear; Audrey Solomon of Alberta; 7 grandchildren Benjamin, Hannah, Amber, Nolan, Madilyn, Mircea, and Lianna; brothers Larry Tomah and Frank Paul (Kathy); sisters Cindy Tomah and Charlene Tomah all of Kingsclear; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Predeceased by his father Clarence and brother Kevin.
Visitation will be held at the late home 31 Porqupine Court, Kingsclear First Nation beginning on Saturday at 2:00 PM and Sunday. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday August 24, 2009 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 11:00 AM with Rev. Donald Savoie officiating. Interment in the St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery. For those who wish memorials in Gerald’s name may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Fund.

Mélanie Maria Ward
2009-2009

At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, on August 19, 2009, our precious angel Melanie Maria Ward was taken to be with the Lord.
Daughter of Sonia and Randy Ward, she is survived by a sister Emilie MacKenzie Ward, Grandparents Sharon and Jeff Ward, Edith and Paul Theriault and great-grandfather Ronald Thompson.
At the family’s request, all funeral arrangements will be private. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

May Ruth McBean
1924-2009

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of May Ruth McBean on July 24, 2009 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was the wife of the late Eugene Arthur McBean.
Born on April 4, 1924 in Campbellton, NB, she was one of ten children born to the late Elizabeth (Wiseman) and Frederick LeTourneau.
Ruth is survived by her four children Barbara Simmonds of Fredericton, Rita Nason (Gary Jochelman) of Fredericton, Gregory “Greg” McBean of Hampton and Nancy Collett (Brian) of Fredericton. She is also survived by ten grandchildren Marla, Shawn, Todd, Jamie, Christy, John, Scott, Jody, Melissa and Cory; fourteen great grandchildren as well as brother-in-law Harry McBean (Eva) of Fredericton. Ruth was predeceased by an infant son Daniel.
Mom and Dad made wonderful memories while raising their children in McAdam. Besides being a homemaker, she was a member of St. Paul’s United Church, the UCW and the Ladies Auxiliary, Branch No. 7. She was an avid bowler and loved playing cards with her friends. She enjoyed baking, reading, walking, knitting mittens and socks for her grandchildren who she enjoyed spending time with. Her great grandchildren always had a special place in her heart.
Visitation will take place at St. Paul’s United Church, McAdam on Monday, July 27 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 PM officiated by Rev. Ellen Beairsto. Interment will take place at Rockland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons Todd Nason, Scott Lockhart, Shawn Simmonds, Cory Lockhart and sons-in-law Brian Collett and Gary Jochelman. Honorary Pallbearers will be granddaughters Marla Simmonds, Melissa Lockhart and Christy Weatherbee. For those who wish, donations may be made to St. Paul’s United Church, McAdam Railway Station Restoration Project or to a charity of one’s choice.

Ross Wesley Dorcas
1916-2009

The passing of Ross Wesley Dorcas of Penniac, NB occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Wednesday, June 24, 2009. He was 92. Born November 17, 1916 in Williamsburg, NB, he was the son of the late Wesley and Beatrice (Currie) Dorcas. Ross was a member of Corbett Avenue Wesleyan Church. He was a machine and heavy equipment operator for the City of Fredericton for 20 years and prior to his retirement he was a Foremen for the city for 14 years.
Ross is survived by his wife Vera (Moore) Dorcas; one son Paul Ross Dorcas (Jolène LeBlanc) of Fredericton; two step-daughters Brenda Cochrane and Karen McGivney (Robert) both of Fredericton; one step-grandson Jasson McGivney (Benita Albert) and three step-great grandchildren Jordan, Justin and Jaxson. He is also survived by brothers Harold (Cecile) of Ontario, Eugene (Helen) of Fredericton, Leslie (Mary) of BC, Ralph (Lois) of Ontario, Wilfred (Gladys) of Ontario, Vernon (Doris) of Williamsburg and Robert (Dorothy) of Fredericton; two sisters Eva Bartlett and Joyce Thorpe both of Fredericton; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; first wife Jean (Urquhart) Dorcas (1993); sisters Chris Hart, Florence Dorcas, Greta Wallace, Shirley Dorcas and Gertrude Weeks.
Visitation will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Friday evening from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A memorial service will be held from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 2:00 PM. Rev. John Symonds will officiate. Interment in the Sunny Bank Cemetery immediately following the service. NO FLOWERS PLEASE due to allergies. Memorials to Corbett Avenue Wesleyan Church, the Diabetes Association or to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Clinton Percy Lomax
1923-2009

The passing of Clinton Lomax, of New Maryland NB, occurred on June 23 at the Veterans Health Unit of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton.
Clinton worked at Battery and Electric, in Saint John, for over 30 years until his retirement in 1987.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen (Kay), sons Terry and Stephen (Nancy) and four grand daughters.
A service followed by a reception will be held at St. Luke's Anglican Church, 12 Quispamsis Road, Gondola Point on July 3rd at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Fredericton SPCA, Saint John Animal Rescue League or a charity of your choice.

Arthur Howard Christie
1925-2009

On June 28, 2009 the death of Arthur Howard Christie occurred peacefully at his home in Penniac surrounded by his loving family. Art was born in Penniac on July 26, 1925, the son of the late William Richmond Christie and Zena Sophia (Parent) Christie.
Retired from the Department of Transportation, Art was a lover of music and frequented the Jemseg Jam’s and Archie’s Jam in Upper Kingsclear. He also loved his home away from home at the lake in Jemseg.
He was predeceased by his only love and wife Doris Ellen (Collett) Christie in 1994. Also predeceased by one son Randy and a sister Lorna.
He leaves behind one daughter Lori (Dave) Edwards of Centerville and their children Christie, Michael and Billy; two sons Scott (Cindy) Christie, and Lee (Lana) Christie all of Penniac; their children Jody, Jason, Sheldon, Jill, Julie and Amy.
Arthur’s request for no visitation will be respected. A funeral service will be held on Thursday July 2, 2009 from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel at 2 PM with Rev. Mac Campbell officiating. Memorial contributions to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Private interment will take place.

Sam Robinson RSW-CET
1934-2009

Sam Robinson RSW-CET went to be with his Lord age of 75 after a lengthy illness. Born on Fisher Avenue, Marysville 1934 and his wish fulfilled, died on Fisher Ave. Sam is the last member of his immediate family.
Sam worked for ADI 42 years and after retirement, continued to design work for more than 30 churches and a large number of homes the last highlight projects being Freewill Baptist Church, Northside Pharmasave, and Leo Hayes High School. He was the only Registered Specification Writer in New Brunswick. Founding member of CET Certified Engineering Society, on Fredericton Heritage Trust Board, Planning Commission, Marysville Town Council, Secretary for Friends of V.P.H., Member of Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Board, Member of Crosspoint Wesleyan Church, Wesleyan Men, Treasurer of Men of the Community, Established Graveyard Stats for ADI.
Sam has left to mourn his wife Helen Cail Robinson, children Rev. Todd Robinson (Karen), Janet Blizzard (Fahim Chishti), Leslie Saad (Chris); grandchildren Brenden Robinson, Jesse Blizzard, Maddy Robinson, Ben Saad, Aunt Thelma Pieroway; nieces Sandra Kennedy and Judy Hamm; several cousins.
Sam was predeceased by his mom and dad Walter and Hazel Robinson and sister Beulah McKeown, also a brother-in-law, Ed McKeown and son-in-law Michael Blizzard.
Resting at Bishop Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton with visitation 2-4, 7-9 pm on Monday, June 29. The funeral service will be held at Crosspoint Wesleyan Church in Marysville on June 30 at 2 pm. Private internment with farewell reception in church hall.
As an alternative to flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation or the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
