Gertrude Elsie Weeks
1921-2008

The passing of Gertrude Elsie Weeks of Harvey Station, York Co, NB occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at the age of 87. Born June 16, 1921 in Williamsburg, NB, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Beatrice (Curry) Dorcas.
Gertrude is survived by 3 sons, Dale (Valeri) of St. Stephen, Richard (Anna) of Rothesay, Kevin (Tresi) of Richardson TX; 5 grandchildren, Crystal, Sarah, Jennifer, Jeffrey and Jordan; great granddaughter, Alyssa; 8 brothers, Ross (Vera), Harold (Cecile), Gene (Helen), Leslie (Mary), Ralph (Lois), Wilfred (Gladys), Vernon (Doris), Robert (Dorothy); 2 sisters, Eva Bartlett and Joyce Thorpe; 14 nieces and 16 nephews. Predeceased by her husband Donald, daughter Donna Marie; and 4 sisters, Chris Hart, Florence Dorcas, Greta Wallace, and Shirley Dorcas.
Gertrude had been a member of St. Andrew’s United Church in Harvey Station, Order of the Eastern Star and also a member of the UCW. She was a licensed amateur radio operator (VE9WA). She enjoyed bowling with her team in the Harvey Bowling League, watching her favorite baseball team (the Toronto Blue Jays) and the company of family and friends. Her baking talents were enjoyed by all.
Resting at St. Andrew’s United Church, Harvey Station. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, November 13, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2008 at Harvey Station United Church. Reverend Ruth Stuart will officiate. A reception will follow the service at the church. Cremation will follow with interment to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the IWK Health Center Foundation, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of NB, or St. Andrew’s United Church in Harvey Station would be appreciated by the family.

G. Eileen Wallace
1928-2009

At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Wednesday February 11, 2009 G. Eileen Wallace of Fredericton passed away at the age of 80. Born in Springhill, NB, she was a daughter of the late Judson and Myrtle (Jewett) Grant, and wife of the late Ralph Wallace.
Eileen was the 1st manager of the Capital Credit Union. She also worked at Household Finance, and she was employed as a secretary at Albert Street School for 24 years. Eileen was also known to be the quality control inspector for the Dippy Dog concession at the FREX for over 20 years.
She was a member of the Fredericton Lionesses and St. Paul’s UCW. Eileen enjoyed her annual visits to Attitash Mountain Village in New Hampshire and was an avid card player.
She is survived by one daughter Sandra Melanson (Jeff) of Beaverdam, NB; one son Tim Wallace (Dianne) of Saint John; one grandson Mark Wallace of Saint John; two nephews Bill and Bob Armstrong.
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road with visitation Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church on Friday February 13, 2009 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. Brad Little officiating assisted by Rev. Scott Wood. Interment will be held at a later date. Contributions to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital 3NE or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Jeannette Margariete Ogilvie
1923-2009

Jeannette Margariete Ogilvie passed away peacefully on February 1st, 2009, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital with her family by her side. Born on January 18, 1923 in Tabasintac, NB she was the daughter of Raynes and Nora (Ashford) Taylor. Jeannette was predeceased by her parents, her husband James W. Ogilvie, son Gordon, daughter Linda, sister Charlotte, brothers Durham, Durwith, Raynes and James.
She is survived by step-daughter Barbara (Earle) Blizzard of Fredericton, grandchildren Brent (Lisa) Blizzard of Rothesay, Shelly (Bill) Jones of Ottawa, Nicole Rideout of Grand Manan, great grandchildren Hannah and Emily Blizzard, Gareth, Clarie and Owen Jones and Martina Rideout also brother Aaron of Saint John, sister-in-law Jean Taylor and many nieces and nephews both in Canada and in Scotland.
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home where the family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Monday February 2nd from 2 to 4 Pm and 7-9PM. The funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday February 3rd at 11AM with Rev. Bob Johnson conducting the service. Memorials may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Fredericton SPCA or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Sharon Roberta Bagnell
1951-2009

After a long battle with cancer, Sharon Roberta Bagnell (Bourque) passed away peacefully during the morning of February 14th, 2009.
Sharon was born in Fredericton, N.B. in 1951 and grew up in Devon where she enjoyed her childhood with friends and family. She is predeceased by her father Timothy Joseph Bourque. Survived by her mother Jessie Ann Roberta Bourque (Endall) and brother Dr. William Bourque (Helen); her son Timothy Sowers (Trudi) and daughter Joanne Carlson (Vic); grandchildren Brittini, Caitlin, Jessica, Melissa, Shaun, Jordyn, Cadeyn and Connor and great-granddaughter Brianna; nieces and nephew Anne, Jennifer, William and Isobel. And last but not least her loyal companion Dirk and pet Tigger.
Sharon had a passion for writing poetry, singing and dancing and decorating. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 from 2-4 PM followed by an evening memorial service at 7 PM. Rev. Paul Thompson will officiate. Donations to the Alzheimers Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Herbert Hayes Messer
1938-2009

We, the family of Herbert Hayes Messer (Herbie), announce the passing of this wonderful man on Monday, March 2, 2009 at DECRH.
Born in Harvey on March 7, 1938 to Lottie (Little) and the late Glenwood Messer. After High School, Herbie attended Community College in Moncton to become an auto mechanic. He met and married the love of his life, Bunny F. Hartt on March 8, 1958 and settled in Fredericton Junction. Together they had 3 children Greg (Sherry) Messer, Tracy, Kevin Messer, Taber Alta, and Susan (John) Rossignol, Tracy.
Herbie loved children and enjoyed spending time with his Grandchildren, Heidi Allaby, Lori Messer, Jessica, Messer, Ashley Messer, Matthew and Nathan Messer, and Derrick Rossignol. He also has one great grandson, Dre Atwin. Herb is also survived by his Mother (Lottie) Messer, brother Royden (Helen) Messer, mother-in-law, Eileen Hartt, his sister-in-law Barb (Murray) Piers, brothers-in-law Frankie (Jolene) and Jerry (Connie) Hartt, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Glenwood Messer and sister Irene.
Herbie was a respected and active member of his community belonging to the NB Tel Pioneers, Honorary member of Gladstone Curling Club, Eastern Star, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Sunbury Lodge, a Board member of the White Rapids Manor. He also was active in the Come Home Week Committee for many years and volunteered with the Sunbury West Ambulance for a long time. He served as a Councillor of the Fredericton Junction Village Council for several years. He loved to sing and enjoyed all types of music and was an active member of the Villageaires, a choral group that entertained at many venues, as well as a great love of horses.
Over the years Herbie enjoyed many hobbies and mastered all. He took pride in his reputation for excellent wine-making and in the stained glass pieces he made. He built or helped build three of his homes and helped with the construction of the Gladstone Curling Clubrooms.
A hard worker, he lent his hand to family and friends whenever he could. He was a man who spoke his mind and was respected by many for this attribute. It was said Herbie was a man of his word.
A visitation will be held on Friday 2 … 4 and 7 … 9 at the United Baptist Church in Fredericton Junction, NB. A celebration of Herbie’s life will be held at on Saturday March 7, 2009 at the same venue at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the charity of choice.

Owen Adam Noble
1943-2009

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Owen Adam Noble of Rusagonis on Sunday March 8, 2009. Owen was born April 15th, 1943 to Frances (Smith) and the late Hazen Noble (2002). Owen was employed over the years with E.J. Ludford Line Company, Rainsford Contracting and with his son Tim at T&T Contracting.
He married his wife of 43 years, Bonnie on October 29, 1965. They have four children Tracey (Ian Edwards), Tim, Kelli and Gina (Curtis Doak); grandchildren Justin, Kayla and Keith Edwards, Niquita, Tristen and Tallen Noble, Anthony and Miranda Scott, Dalton, Arianna and Chayse Doak; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Also survived by his siblings Myra Kay, Leona Wood, Mary Lipsett, Josephine Carr (Clarence Carr), Raymond (Pam), David(Donna), and Roger(May) as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Rusagonis United Baptist Church on Tuesday March 10, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Brent MacDonald officiating, assisted by Rev. David Gray. Interment will be held at a later date. For those who wish memorials may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Carolyn Joyce Gunter
1934-2009

It is with great sadness that the family of Carolyn Joyce Gunter (nee Anderson) announce her passing, peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 74 years. She was born in Edmundston, NB, on November 7th 1934. Predeceased by her parents, Richard Burton Anderson and Carolyn Joyce (nee Rideout) Anderson.
Lovingly remembered by her husband of 53 years, Albert Herbert Gunter. Survived by two sons, Richard (Dottie) of Rockland Ontario and Ronald (Gail) of Halifax Nova Scotia. Also survived by two grandsons, Jarrad (Megan) of Tweed Ontario and Graham (Elaine) of Kingston Ontario. Survived by her sister Audrey of Moncton, NB, brother Keith (Maureen) of Moncton, NB and a sister-in-law Ruth Anderson of St Hubert Quebec; cousin Don Stevenson; as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a brother Charles and a brother in law James Clark.
Carolyn lived most of her life in Fredericton, where she trained to be a nurse. Many of her nursing years were spent doing private duty nursing. The joys in her life were her, family and community service. She was a member of the United Church of Canada. She was an accomplished organist and was Choir Director. She lovingly spent time playing for seniors in her later years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she held positions of Past Matron, Organist, Devon Chapter, Grand Electa 1977-1978 and Grand Organist 1989-1990. Carolyn was also a member of the Y’s Menettes where she was Past President, Nashwaaksis. She was a lifetime associate of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4, where she served on the executive of the Ladies Auxiliary as Past President and was Secretary at the time of her death.
The family requests donations if desired to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 Fredericton as per her request. Funeral services entrusted to Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Rd, Fredericton NB. Visiting hours to be held on Friday 2-4 and 7-9. O.E.S service at 6:30 pm on Friday with Legion Auxiliary to follow immediately afterwards. Funeral Service to be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday at 2pm with Rev. Brian MacDonald officiating. Interment at a later date.
