Solaira Beverly-Dawn MacNeil
2008-2009
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Solaira Beverly-Dawn MacNeil January 9, 2009 at the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton Alberta. Born November 10, 2008, she was the daughter of Steven MacNeil and Katherine Dow of Edmonton.
She is survived by her maternal grandmother, Helen Dow (Tom Richard) of Fredericton and maternal grandfather, Robert Dow Jr. (Lisa Elliott); paternal grandparents Roland MacNeil (Sharon) of Fredericton. She is also survived by 4 great-grandparents and several great aunts and uncles.
A private funeral service will be held. Donations may be made to the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation or the Kids with Cancer Society.
Allan John Finnegan
At the Dr. Chalmers Regional Hospital on Wednesday December 24, 2008, Allan J. Finnegan of Fredericton passed away at the age of 85. Born in Debec, Carelton Cty., he was a son of the late Frederick and Marie (O’Donnell) Finnegan and husband of the late Hazel (Boone) Finnegan.
Allan was a carpenter and involved in the home building industry locally for thirty five years. He was a World War II Veteran, serving with the North Shore Regiment.
He is survived by a daughter Michelle of Fredericton; sons Michael of Fredericton, and Mark of Charles City, Iowa and their families. Predeceased by brothers Wendall and Vincent; and sister Arliene.
Cremation will be held with a private family service to be held at a later date. Donations to the NB Heart and Stroke Fund would be appreciated. Arrangements are under the care of Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road.
Robert Edward Conrad
1931-2008
The death of Robert Edward Conrad of Fredericton occurred on Saturday December 27, 2008 peacefully at home, at the age of 77.
He retired after a 32 year career in the Canadian Armed Forces (Army), serving in Korea, Germany and Egypt. He went on to spend over 25 years at his favorite pastime, family, farming and fishing.
Bob is survived by a daughter Debra Kierstead (Dave) of Fredericton with Charlee, Millie and Gabby; two sons Robert (Diane) of Georgia, Donald (Lynn Bishop) of New Maryland; a granddaughter Kimberly Conrad of Georgia. He was predeceased by his wife Ramona (Fredericks) Conrad; his parents Joseph and Margaret (McLean) Conrad; 3 brothers & 2 sisters.
Although there will be no visitation, family and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service to be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Tuesday, December 30th at 2:00 PM with Rev. Sara Palmater officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. The family has designated the SPCA as a charity for memorial contributions.
Labelle L. Saulis
1947-2008
On Saturday December 27, 2008, Labelle Larry Saulis of Kingsclear First Nation, Kingsclear, NB went home to be with his Lord at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. He was 61. Born April 8, 1947 in Oromocto, he was the son of the late Walter and Annie (Atwin) Saulis. Labelle was a member of Sunset Church, Fredericton. He was a Woodsman & Heavy Equipment Operator by trade and was an avid fisherman. He was well known as a native Basket Maker and a vocal activist for the native community. He will also be remembered for his musical talent.
He is survived by his wife Loretta (Hannington) Saulis; sons Winton and Curtis Saulis both of Kingsclear; daughter Carol Ann Marshall (Alex) of Cape Breton; four grandchildren; brothers Steve Sacobie and John Sacobie both of Kingsclear; sisters Freda Berube and Carolyn Saulis both of Kingsclear; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, brothers Clifford Sacobie, Norman Sacobie and Rufford Sacobie all predeceased him.
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Sunset Church, 429 Clements Dr., Fredericton on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 2:00 PM, Pastor Joe Beesley and Rev. Richard Bragdon will officiate. Interment in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Kingsclear at a later date. Contributions to Bridges of Canada in Labelle’s memory would be appreciated.
George Douglas “Doug” Palmer
1930-2009
George Douglas Palmer passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on January 3, 2009, age 78. Born in Lakeville Corner, NB, he was a son of the late George and Essie (Holmes) Palmer.
Survived by three sons Stephen, David, and Cleveland Palmer; two daughters Robin and Judy Palmer; six sisters Vivian Howe, Alma Palmer, Daisy Lucus, Esther Miller, Josephine Miller, Pauline Marsh; sister-in-law Beulah Palmer; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Visitation at Bishop’s Funeral Home (458-1885) on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Memorial service from the Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday at 2 PM with Rev. Ivan Perry officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Darrell Chase and Lawrence Wasson. Interment in the spring. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

1952-2009
PHILLIPS, ACEL DALE: The death of Dale Phillips occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, New Brunswick on Sunday, January 11, 2009. Born in Fredericton, NB on May 1, 1952 he was predeceased by his late father Robert Gordon Phillips, Lincoln, NB. He is survived by his Mother Doreen (Dunlap) Phillips, his ex-wife Linda (Grant) Phillips, Bridgetown, NS; his four children; Carrie (Mike) Kieser, Calgary AB, Jesse (Erin) Phillips, Lake Gerry, NS, Kelsey Phillips (step-daughter), Calgary AB, and Cullen Phillips, Bridgetown, NS; also his three grandchildren Tate and Owen Kieser, Calgary, AB, Mythandrea Phillips, Lake Gerry, NS,; three brothers Noel, Elkford, BC, Randy (Judy), Saint John, NB and Allan (Wink), Lincoln, NB as well as his three nieces Vanessa Hocquard (Scott), Moosejaw, SK, Nicole LaMacchia (Joey), Sound Beach, NY, Courtney Phillips, Calgary AB; and his nephew Jeremy Phillips, Toronto, ON; his great niece Maya Hocquard and great nephews Kyle Phillips and, Joseph, Dominic and Gabriel LaMacchia. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends who dearly loved him.
Visitation will take place at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Friday, January 16, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm with funeral service held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 1 PM from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel. Reception to follow at Bishop’s Funeral Home. Private family burial will be held at a later date in the Spring. Donations may be made to charity of donor’s choice. Josephine Marie Paul
1925-2008
The passing of Josephine Marie Paul of Fredericton occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Thursday, December 25, 2008. She was 83. Born in Vanceboro, Maine on December 23, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John Paul and Mary Ann Sappier. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church. Josephine was an avid Bingo Player and was well known for her knitting, especially “socks”. She will be fondly remembered for her great sense of humour.
She was extremely proud of her family and she will be greatly missed by her children, Doreen Josephine Paul Griffith, John Eric Paul (Candice), David Lawrence Paul, Henry George Paul, Christina Elizabeth Paul and Elsie Marie Daniele Paul; also by grandchildren John Eric Paul, Candy Ann Paul, Joanie Marie Paul, Ryan Morley Paul, Jessie John Paul, Chelsea Megan Griffith, Madeline Josephine Paul and Shawn Robert Griffith; 17 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, a son James Lawrence Paul, a daughter Patricia Ann Paul, sisters Elsie Elizabeth Paul and Alma Paul and brothers Walter Joseph Paul and Daniel Paul all predeceased her.
Resting at the late home, 87 Paul St., Fredericton beginning Saturday afternoon. The funeral service will be held from St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Monte Peters officiating. Interment will be held in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date. Donations to Lupus New Brunswick and the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
