Dr. Esperanza (Hope) R. Ravelo
1921-2007
On July 7th 2007, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Dr. Esperanza (Hope) R. Ravelo fell asleep in Jesus. Born in the Philippines, she was the daughter of the late Angeles Rigon and Crispina Villafuerte.
She is survived by one brother, Jose, of the Philippines, several nieces and nephews, her loving friend and companion Eva and Eva's boys, Earle and Ron. Also by many members from her church family who have loved her as a sister, mother, grandmother, advisor, confidante, teacher and friend. She was predeceased by her husband I. Jun C. Ravelo.
Hope taught for many years as a Professor of Education at various universities. Then, after her retiring, she volunteered as teacher of the River Valley Seventh-Day Adventist School. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by the many people she has influenced and touched in so many ways.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held from the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 870 Grandame Street, Fredericton, NB on August 12, 2007 at 2:00 PM With Elder Robert Lehmann officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Maritime Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Rd, Fredericton, NB.
Janette Gladys Lewis
1931-2007
The passing of Janette G. Lewis of Fredericton, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Saturday, June 30th, 2007. She was 76. Born in Centerville NB, she was the daughter of the late Tyler & Gladys Webb.
Janette is survived by 1 daughter Jennifer (Andre) of Miramichi, NB, 1 son Robert (Mary) also of the Miramichi, 1 sister Helen Bailey of Ottawa Ontario, 6 grandchildren; Tyler, Blake, Natalie, Elaine, Parker & Lincoln, as well as a daughter in law Margaret Menzies, a stepdaughter Jane McGeehan & A sister-in-law Pauline Lewis all of Fredericton.
Predeceased by her husband Wayne Lewis as well as 2 previous husbands Jack Staples & Dr. A.P. Menzies, 2 brothers Harry & Jack Webb, 2 sons Ian & Graeme Menzies.
Visitation will take place at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton on Tuesday July 3rd from 7-9 PM only. A memorial service will be held at Grace Memorial United Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 4th at 11 AM with Rev. Doug Hapeman Officiating.
Interment to follow in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery.
For those who wish, donations in Janette’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Palliative Care Unit at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Glenna Irene Hinchey
1942-2007
At the Dr. Chalmers Regional Hospital on July 13, 2007, Glenna I. Hinchey age 65 of Fredericton passed away peacefully. Born in Newmarket, NB she was a daughter of the late Leo and Roxie (King) Burgoyne and wife of the late Lorne Hinchey. Glenna was a member of the Holy Family Parish Roman Catholic Church, and worked at Boldon’s Sunshine Diner as a clerk/waitress. Surviving are her daughter Kelly Dixon (Heath) and their son Joel of Fredericton; son Mike Hinchey (Steve Gaetz) of Winnipeg; brother Alfred Burgoyne (Louise) of Fredericton; sister Helen Randall (Walter) of Hanwell Rd.; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by 2 brothers Willard and Ford.
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Rd. with visiting Monday July 16, 2007 from 3:30-5:30 & 7-9pm. Funeral mass will be held from Holy Family Parish Church, Hanwell Rd. on Tuesday July 17, 2007 at 12:00 noon with Father John Jennings officiating. Interment in the St. Patrick's Cemetery, Newmarket NB. For those who wish memorials may be made to the SPCA or charity of the donors choice.
Dorothy Elizabeth Lyons
1913-2007
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Dorothy Lyons at the Dr. Chalmers Regional Hospital on November 15, 2007 at the age of 94. Dorothy was born at Victoria Mills, Fredericton and was a daughter of the late William and Mary Ellen (Briggs) McFawn and wife of the late Robert (Lonnie) Lyons.
She possessed a strong will and a great sense of humor. Dorothy was a wonderful mother, grandmother and her family meant the world to her. She was a member of Christ Church Parish Church and a choir member at St. Margaret’s Anglican Church for many years.
Dorothy is survived by her four children Robert (Eileen), Mary Gorham (Richard), Barbara Herd (Grant Cooper), all of Fredericton and Fred (Diana) of Nanaimo, BC; one sister Mae Hoben of Fredericton; two brothers Fred (Olive) and Charles all of Ontario; five grandchildren Andrew and David Gorham, Joel Herd, Lindsay and Graham Lyons; five great-grandchildren Robin and Dawson Gorham; Samuel and Spencer Gorham, and Khonner Herd-Standing; as well as two sisters-in-law Barbara Blacquier and Leona Kelly; numerous nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents and husband she was predeceased by five brothers Douglas, Lewis, Lloyd, William, and Royden; and one sister Pauline.
Although there will be no visitation, a funeral service will be held on Sunday November 18, 2007 at 2:00pm from Christ Church (Parish) Church, Westmorland Street with Rev. Anthony Kwaw officiating assisted by Rev. Paul Ranson. A reception will follow the service. Interment will be held in Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date.For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation NB or charity of the donor’s choice.
Murray G. Cole
1927-2007
The passing of Murray Gerald Cole occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB on November 19, 2007 at the age of 80. Born April 28, 1927 at Jacksonville, NB, he was the son of the late Hedley H. and Ethel M. (Greer) Cole. Murray was a Taxi Driver for over 35 years retiring in 1992. He has been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No.4, Fredericton, since 1959.
Murray is survived by his four sisters, Winona Stoddard of Grand Bay-Westfield, Juanita Pollock of Fredericton Junction, Elaine Morton (Gregory) of Fredericton and Linda Lister (Murray) of Harvey; 9 nieces and 5 nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; one aunt, Marion Clark of Southampton, NB. Predeceased by his parents, his spouse Mavis Perry and brothers-in-law Eugene Stoddard and George Pollock.
At Murray’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Following cremation, a private interment will be held in the Harvey Community Cemetery. Murray has requested memorial contributions be sent to the Canadian Red Cross or War Amps.
Phillip G. Parent
1936-2007
The passing of Phillip George Parent of Burton, NB, occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at the age of 71. Born October 23, 1936 in Devon, NB, he was the son of the late Herbert and Stella (Curtis) Parent. Phillip was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was a Welder and Contractor and was in partnership with his son Herb, operating H.P. and Father Inc. for 15 years. Phillip was formerly employed with Tractors and Equipment for 23 years.
Survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Joyce E. Boone; one daughter, Chavalla E. Upton (Gordon) of Minto; three sons, William M. Parent of Saskatchewan, Herb P. Parent (Carolyn) of Burton and Keith A. Parent (Jethelo) of Vancouver; five grandchildren, Vanessa Upton, Felicia Byram (Daniel), Phillip Parent (Lacey), Katrina Whalen and Christina Parent; one great grandson Ethan Parent and one great granddaughter Lauren Parent; three brothers, Shirley Curtis (Anne) of Lakeville Corner, Ron Parent (Carol) of Scotchtown and Don Parent (Anne) of Fredericton; four sisters, Ruth Allen of Penniac, Jeannie Vanstone (Thomas) of Fredericton, Elsie Hoeppner (Don) of Indiana, USA and Viola Peterson of Fredericton; a sister-in-law Marina Parent of Fredericton; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents, a son Curtis, a brother Charlie and a brother-in-law Jerome Peterson.
No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held from The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 16 Doyle St., Oromocto, NB on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 2:00 PM. Johann Grimm will officiate. Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton (458-1885).
Hazen S. Bennett
1919-2007
The passing of Hazen Bennett occurred at the Nashwaak Villa in Stanley, on November 28, 2007, at the age of 88. Born in Cross Creek, NB. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Hazen was a life member of the Elk’s Club, loved to do woodworking also listening to music and playing his fiddle that he handcrafted.
He is survived by his good friend Stephen Horsman and many nieces and nephews Lloyd & Nira Sprouls June Dobbelsteyn (late Gerald). He was predeceased by his wife Daisy Alice Larsen.
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Rd. Fredericton with visitation on Thursday from 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday November 30th, 2007 from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel at 2 pm with Rev. John Sharpe officiating. Interment will follow in the Saint Paul’s Anglican Cemetery Cross Creek. For those who wish memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
