Patricia Eileen Dunlay
1927-2007
The passing of Patricia Eileen Dunlay, widow of the late Burton Daniel Dunlay, occurred at York Manor on January 29th, 2007. She was born April 26, 1927 in Fredericton, she was the daughter of the late Nellie Hughey and the late Frederick and Pearle (Clayden) Betts. Eileen was a member of the Church of Christ and was employed as a proof reader with Maritime Law Book for 30 years.
She is survived by two sons, Mark Dunlay (Elizabeth) of Ottawa, Ont. and Alan Dunlay (Nancy) of Hanwell, NB; three grandchildren, Julie Wyrwas, Caitlyn and Pearce Dunlay; one sister Pauline Betts of Fredericton; sisters-in-law Annie Moore (Arnold) of Fredericton, Pearl Sears (Leslie) of Durham and Jean Boyce of Saint John. Predeceased by her parents; her husband; sisters-in-law Gertie Lawson (George), Obie Dunlay and brother-in-law Ralph Dunlay (Eveline).
It was Eileen’s request that no visitation be held. The funeral service will be private. For those who wish to make a memorial contribution may do so by donating to the Canadian Cancer Society or the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation. Bishop’s Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Fletcher, William ”Bill” Eugene
1928-2007
The passing of William”Bill” Fletcher of Beaverdam occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at the age of 78. Born in Beaverdam, he was the son of the late Hugh and Estella (Noble) Fletcher.
Bill spent most of his life as a truck driver and loved his camp the “Moosehead Lodge”
Surrounded by his loving family he is survived by his wife of 58 years Marce; three sons Brian (Doris Warden) Fletcher of Gagetown, Carson (Louise) Fletcher and Colin (Sandra) Fletcher all of Beaverdam, three daughters Sherry Boyd (Leslie) of Beaverdam, Melody Fletcher (Ken Smissaert) and Andrea Fletcher (Robert Barron) all of Fredericton; 9 grandchildren Belinda Fletcher, Katie Warden, Shane (Nadine) and Melissa Fletcher, Corey, Craig, and Mitchell Price, Quentin Boyd, Matthew Fletcher; special friend Jasmine Freyn; 7 great grandchildren; two brothers Travis Fletcher (Elizabeth) of Fredericton, Sonny Fletcher (Donna) of Nasonworth; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Although there will be no public visitation a funeral service will be held on Monday January 22, 2007 at 2:00 pm from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Nasonworth, NB with Rev. Bruce McKenna officiating.
For those who wish memorials may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society NB Division or charity of the donors choice. Bishops Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road have been entrusted with the arrangements.
Edith Annie Snowden
The passing of Edith Annie Snowden of Fredericton occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Tuesday, January 9th, 2007. She was 85. Born at Hearne, Saskatchewan on October 7, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Maude (Dickinson) Millington. Besides her parents, Edith was predeceased by her husband Noble William Snowden in 1994 and a daughter Jane Snowden.
Edith was a faithful member of the Salvation Army Fredericton Community Church where she was actively involved with the Home League and the League of Mercy. A veteran, she served in Canada with the Canadian Armed Forces and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Branch No. 4, Fredericton. She was a member of the Canadian Diabetes Association and a former member of the St. John Ambulance. She was employed at the Chalmers Hospital and the former Victoria Public Hospital in the Food Service Department retiring in 1986.
She is survived by her son, Wayne (Bonnie) Snowden of Fredericton; five daughters, Donna Humby (Claude) of Stanley, Judith Falconer (Doug) of St. Stephen, Jean Snowden, Debbie Landry (Roger) and Sharon Finnamore (Bruce) all of Fredericton; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Sarah, Sean, William, Chris, Terrianne, Michael, David and Christine and one great granddaughter Rebecca; nieces and nephews.
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, where visitation will be held Thursday, January 11, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from the Salvation Army Fredericton Community Church, 531 St. Mary’s St., Fredericton on Friday, January 12 at 2:00 PM. Majors Leo and Marie Vincent will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army Fredericton Community Church or to a charity of your choice.
Pauline Cail
1920-2007
The passing of Pauline Cail of Fredericton occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at the age of 87. Born in Fredericton, she was the wife of the late Carroll H. Cail and daughter of the late William and Mary (Briggs) McFawn.
Her great wit and her strength shone in her life and also strong in her faith as a member of Christ Church Parish Church. She was past Grand Mistress of the L.O.B.A. where she was an active member, former member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch #4, and very active with the Progressive Conservative Party throughout her life. Pauline worked with Atlantic Wholesalers Ltd., Eden Rock Hotel and spent 25 years at the Beaverbrook Hotel until her retirement. She was an avid bowler, loved knitting, and had a great passion for harness racing.
She is survived by her children Helen and her husband Sam Robinson of Marysville, Sandra and her husband Douglas MacDonald of Burton, Jim and his wife Gaye of Fredericton, Carol and her husband Jim Lockhart of Marysville; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Mae Hoben and Dorothy Lyons both of Fredericton; 2 brothers Charlie McFawn and Fred McFawn his wife Olive all of Ontario; numerous nieces and nephews as well as a special friend Doris McMinniman as well as her furry friend Neilly.
She was also predeceased by her brothers Lewis, Doug, Lloyd, Royden and Billie McFawn.
Resting at Bishops Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Rd. with visitation on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm from Christ Church (Parish) Church, Westmorland Street with Venerable John Sharpe officiating. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery in the spring.
For those who wish memorials may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Fund, the Kidney Foundation or Canadian Liver Foundation. The L.O.B.A. will hold a tribute service for Pauline at the funeral home on Friday at 3:00 pm.
Dr. William W. “Bill” MacGillivary
At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton on Wednesday September 13, 2006 Dr. William W. “Bill” MacGillivary passed away after a courageous battle. Born in Florence, NS he graduated from Florence Public School and Sydney Mines High School. Graduated with as Bachelor of Physical Education degree from the University of New Brunswick in 1962. Bill was employed by the Dartmouth YM- YWCA from 1962-63. He graduated with an M.A. from the University of Alberta in 1965. Employed by McMaster University from 1965-67 as a Lecturer and Assistant Coach. He was hired by the University of New Brunswick in 1967 as an Assistant Professor and Head Hockey Coach. Received his PhD from the University of Wisconsin in 1977. He was a Professor in Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation (Kinesiology) at UNB-1967-1997, became Dean of the Faculty of Kinesiology in 1980 and held this post until 1991.
Bill served as Technical Director for Hockey New Brunswick from 1972 to 1984, was a member of Canadian Hockey Association (now Hockey Canada) from 1972 to 1997 and served as Chairman of the Board from 1993-1995. He was a Canadian Hockey representative to IIHF Board-1993-95, member of the Board of the Canadian Olympic Association from 1991-1995 and currently a Board member of this organization, Board member Fredericton YM- YWCA 1995- 1998, Board member of Special Olympics New Brunswick from 1989 to 2005, Board member of Special Olympics Canada from 2000 to 2003, Board member of Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic from 2002 to 2005, Board member of Jobs Unlimited from 1992 to the present (currently Chairman of the Board), member of the Board of Directors of Fredericton Sports Investments (1990) lnc. From 1995 to the present and currently President.
Over the years Bill has received numerous awards and honours, selected Coach of the Year for Atlantic University Hockey Conference …1974, awarded Labatt Hockey Volunteer award for contributions to hockey in N.B., -1980, Hockey New Brunswick Award for Hockey development-1986, selected to NB. Canada Games Mission staff …1987, named first Life Member for Hockey New Brunswick-1988, inducted to the Fredericton Sports Wall of Fame-1995, awarded United Nations Volunteer Medal-2002, selected for the Canadian Olympic Association Mission staff for Winter Olympics-2002, awarded the Joe Kane Trophy for service to hockey in Canada by he CIS-2003, selected 2006 Distinguished Citizen … City of Fredericton Award. Bill was associated with the Forest Hill United Church.
He is survived by his wife Sandra (Boyd) MacGillivary; two sons James “Sandy” of Saint John, NB, Tim at home; his beloved border collie MacDuff; 1 sister Neila Sullivan (Edward) of George’s River, Cape Breton, NS; uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton with visitation on Saturday September 16, 2006 from 3:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held Sunday September 17, 2006 at 3:00 pm at Wilmot United Church in Fredericton with Rev. Meredith Fraser officiating, assisted by Rev. H. Gil MacKenzie. Guy Maurice (Mr. Magoo) Burnett
The death of Guy occurred on January 7th, 2007 at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by family.
Born in Fredericton in 1947, he is predeceased by Don & Annie (McKay) Burnett, 2 sisters Bonnie, Ethelyn (Kelly) and a brother Frank. He has one surviving sister Donna (MacKinney) of Fredericton.
Guy’s love is sadly missed by his wife Donna (Gallant) and 2 daughters Tammy Burnett of Fredericton & Lisa & Jason McDougall & 3 grandsons, Archie Johnathan, Brady Maurice, & Ethan Jack of P.A Saskatchewan, and many nieces and nephews.
Guy’s love was his big trucks and being on the road doing what he loved most. He enjoyed the last years of his life hauling equipment for D.A Campbell Amusements of Brantford Ontario.
He enjoyed every moment with his family and grandkids and always had smart remarks even in his final days. He always made people laugh and cry, that’s what he did best.
Arrangements are under the care of Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Rd, with visitation on Tuesday, January 9th, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9. A private Funeral service for the immediate family will be held the next day with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating.
Honorary pallbearers are Allan Olmstead, Guy & Eugene Gallant of Fredericton, NB, Danny & Don Campbell of Brantford, Ontario & Phil McCafferty of Toronto Ontario.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the IWK Children’s Hospital or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Frances "Fran" L. Hannington
1932-2007
On Saturday, August 25th, 2007, Frances “Fran” Loretta Hannington of Fredericton went home to be with her Lord. She was 75. Born August 11th, 1932 in Oromocto, NB, she was the daughter of the late Hazen and Gertrude (Ward) Howland. She was Pentecostal by faith and was the owner and operator of Fran’s Special Care Home, Fredericton.
Surviving are three daughters, Loretta Saulis (Labelle) of Fredericton, Peggy Price (Kendall) of Boiestown and Terry Thorn (Trevor) of Oakville, Ont.; two sons, Alvin Thomas Hannington of Barrie, Ont. and Elwood Joseph Hannington of Fredericton; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; two sisters, Alice Moxon of Maugerville and Marion Townes of Hamilton, Ont.; an aunt, Christina Howland of Waasis; a half brother Bob Nason of Fredericton and a half sister Mary Ann Shantz of Oakville, Ont.; nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents and a brother Douglas Howland.

A funeral service will be held from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, August 28th, 2007 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Raymond Woodward officiating. Interment in the Waasis Cemetery. Memorials to the Foreign Missions Dept. or the Home Missions Dept. of the Capital Community Church, Fredericton, would be appreciated by the family.
