Malcolm Hiram (Mac) Daley
The passing of Malcolm Hiram Daley occurred at the Veteran's Health Unit, Fredericton, on Friday, April 11, 2003. Born in Clifton, NB on March 28, 1914, he was a son of the late Anslow and Laura (Campbell) Daley. Mac was a veteran of WWII having served overseas from 1941-1945. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was retired from Sherwin-Williams where he worked as a Production Foreman.
He is survived by son Bliss and wife June of Orangeville, Ont; daughter Doreen Adams and husband Johnny of Bramalea, Ont. and son Douglas and wife Marsha of Maugerville, NB; grandchildren Phillip, Judith, Andrew, David, Karen, Thomas, Robert and Victoria and great grandchildren Brittaney, Mark, Glenn and Haleigh; a sister Lillian Miller of Salmon Beach, NB; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; wife Louise (Knowles) Daley; a son Richard; sisters Joy and Ellen and brothers, Carl, Doug and Neil.
Resting at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Saturday evening from 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Gibson Memorial United Church on Sunday, April 13, 2003 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Boyd Vincent and Rev. Meredith Fraser officiating. Interment in Park Lawn Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario on Tuesday, April 15, 2003. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to a charity of your choice.
Louis Elbridge (Cy) Keenan
In his 96th year after a very healthy life, Cy passed away at Pine Grove on Sunday, April 6, 2003 after a stay of 4 weeks. The care he received while there was exceptional and also his 3 months spent on 4 Northwest where there were some special nurses who gave extra TLC. Our heartfelt thanks.
Cy was born in Fredericton in 1907 to the late Gertrude (Davey) and Peter Keenan. He graduated from U.N.B. with a civil engineering degree. He holds a record with the university for being the only player in the history to play 6 years of U.N.B. hockey. For the next 43 years Cy was employed with the City of Fredericton as an engineer.
He will be remembered as an ardent salmon fisherman, spending many hours on the Saint John river around the Hart's pool area where he had his beloved fishing camp.
Cy is survived by daughter Jo-Anne (Robert) Hallett, Island View; son Peter Keenan, Fredericton; two very special grandchildren Todd (Debbie) Hallett of Fredericton, Kari-Ann Hallett (Fiance Rob Colwell), Fredericton; many nieces and nephews; also his very special homemakers Sue MacFarlane and Barb Morrison. Predeceased by his wife Pauline in 1998, a sister Eileen and brothers Jack, Doug and Ed.
No visitation will take place. A celebration of Cy's life will take place on Wednesday, April 9th at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish, Hanwell Road. Interment at a later date at the Hermitage Cemetery. Remembrances to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
Howard Douglas Allen
Howard Douglas Allen, a very special brother and brother-in-law, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on June 14th, 2003. Born on December 20th, 1932 in Fredericton, Douglas was the oldest son of Hayward and Frances (Hall) Allen.
He is survived by his sister, Marion Coulson (Allen), brother-in-law David Coulson, his brother Ted Allen (Rita) of St. Albert, Alberta and several nieces and nephews. Douglas was predeceased by his Mom and Dad; sister Nancy, brothers Brian and Richard (January 17th, 2003) Douglas graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 1955 with a Science Degree. He was past-president of the Friends and Fellowship Club. His greatest passion was playing 45's with his senior friends at Monsignor Boyd Family Centre every Wednesday afternoon.
A memorial service of Douglas's life will be celebrated at Smythe Street Cathedral on Monday, June 23rd, 2003 at 2:30 PM. There is no visitation by request. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. A reception will be held following the service. Interment at a later date.

Marion E. Davis
The passing of Marion E. Davis of Fredericton occurred June 7, 2003 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 83. Born in Moncton NB, she was a daughter of the late Everett & Eleanor (Horsman) Trites & wife of the late Glen Davis. Marion graduated from the Provincial Normal School in 1937, becoming a Teacher and teaching in various locations in NB. She was a homemaker and a member of Brunswick Street Baptist Church. Marion will be remembered by many for her letters to the Editor of The Daily Gleaner.
Surviving are two sons: Peter (Marsha) and John (Cathy) of Fredericton, Grandchildren; Matthew, Sarah, and Beth all of Fredericton. One brother Vaughan Trites (Erma) of Moncton, one sister Lois Clitheroe (Herbert) of Toronto, several nieces & nephews.
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, where visitation will be held Tuesday 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ralph Irving officiating. Interment will be held privately. Memorials to the Diabetes Association, or Brunswick Street Baptist Church would be appreciated by the family.
Olive Catherine Douglas
The passing of Olive Catherine Douglas of Fredericton occurred peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at the age of 84. Born in Pictou, NS, she was a daughter of the late Rod and Eva (Watters) Robley and wife of the late Borden Daniel Douglas.
She is survived by her sons Keith (Linda) of Richmond Hill Toronto, Ontario, Ivan (Judy) of Fredericton and Robert (Colleen) of Detroit, Michigan; daughter Sharon (Arthur) Gibson of Fredericton; sisters Elva (Harold) Smith of Durham, NS, Evie (Murdock) Campbell of Pictou, NS; brother Waldo (Marilyn) Robley of Ontario; grandchildren Jennifer, Julie, Cynthia, Tanya & Tim, Donna & Michael, Robyn & Adam; great granddaughter Bailey. Predeceased by her parents; husband; brothers Harold Robley and Jack Robley.
There will be no visitation by request of the family. A funeral service will be held at Gibson Memorial United Church on Saturday June 7, 2003 at 12:00 pm with Rev. Boyd Vincent officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.
Gertrude Gamble
The passing of Gertrude Gamble of Oromocto, NB occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Thursday, June 12, 2003.
Born in Shirley Settlement, NB, she was the daughter of the late Moses and Addie (Lyons) Barker. Her husband Harry Freeman Gamble predeceased her in 1982. Gertrude was a lifetime member of the P.C. Party, the CECELIA Rebekah Lodge #129, Sunbury Seniors Friendship Group; lifetime Member of the Burton Women's Institute and a member of the Oromocto United Church. She was an avid card player who had a passion for 45's.
Gertrude is survived by one daughter, Joan Scott and husband Paul; one precious granddaughter Kristina Scott; two brothers, Hughie Barker of Fredericton and Ken Barker (Norma) of New Glasgow, NS; a sister-in-law, Mary Sweeney of Durham Bridge; several nieces and nephews and cousins. Predeceased by one brother Ralph Barker.
The family will receive friends at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, on Sunday from 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Bishop's Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, June 16, 2003 at 2:00 PM with Margie Patterson officiating. Interment to follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Burton, NB. Memorials to any charitable organization would be appreciated by the family.
Keith Carl Gorman
The death of Keith Carl Gorman occurred unexpectedly at home on Monday, June 16. Born in Grand Falls, NB, June 21, 1943 he was the son of Margaret (Rideout) Gorman and the late Carl Gorman.
He received his B. PEd. From the University of New Brunswick (1965) and an M.Ed. in Physical Education from the University of Maine (1976). An outstanding athlete in his youth, he spent thirty-four years at Stanley High School as teacher, coach, and guidance counselor. His dedication to the school was recognized in 1999 when the new gymnasium was named in his honor.
A devoted husband and father, his greatest love was his family. In his youth he developed a passion for sports, sports magazines and newspapers which continued his entire life.
He is survived by his beloved wife Anne Marie (Foreman), his mother Margaret Gorman, two sons, Dr. Sean Gorman of Vancouver, Mark of Stanley, two daughters, Dr. Erin (Andrew) Gorman of London, Ontario and Maggie of Ottawa, two sisters Sharon (Terry) Ciebin of Vancouver, and Diane (Ray) Flynn of Fredericton, brothers-in-law, Fred, Gerald, Lawrence, Roy (Linda), Harry (Cathy), Neill (Gisele), Bobby (Marilyn), Dennis Foreman, sister-in-law Winnifred (Bob) Taylor, nieces and nephews, an aunt and uncle and several cousins. He will also be deeply missed by a host of former students and many friends including his boyhood friend, Andrew Sutherland.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Stanley on Thursday, June 19, at 11 am with Rev. David Fulton officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon and evening 2-4 and 7-9 at St. Patrick's. For those who wish, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Arthritis Society, or charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
