George J. Isiah
1935 - 2008

MIRAMICHI - George John Isiah, of Park Drive, Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Thursday morning, December 4, 2008, at the age of 73. Born in Chatham, on June 14, 1935, he was the son of the late Charles and Rose (Napke) Isiah. He was a retired employee of CFB Chatham and of SMT (Eastern) Ltd. He attended St. Michael's Basilica; a member of Branch #3, Royal Canadian Legion, Miramichi. He is survived by his daughter, Yvonne Flieger-Isiah (Reg), of Miramichi; his son, Peter Isiah (Sheila), of Calgary, Alta.; their mother, Leona (MacDonald) Isiah; of Miramichi; one sister, Mary Jorden (Michael), of Enfield, N.S.; one brother, David Isiah (Debbie), of Red Deer, Alta.; three grandchildren; his long time companion, Mavis Cooper, of Miramichi. He was predeceased by two sisters, Annie Garnet and Yvonne Henry; two brothers, Joseph and Peter Isiah. Visiting will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., on Sunday only, from 1-4 & 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Michael's Basilica, on Monday, December 8, 2008, at 11 am, conducted by Father John Fraser. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery. Please note, vigil prayers will be held at the funeral home on Sunday evening, at 6:50 pm, as well, members of Branch # 3, Royal Canadian Legion, will hold a service at the funeral home on Sunday evening, at 7:30 pm. As expressions of sympathy, donations to any charity of the donors' choice, would be appreciated by the family. Evelyn Francis (Dixon) Jepson

In loving memory of Evelyn Francis (Dixon) Jepson: Loving Wife and Mother who passed away on Monday December 2nd, 2008 at the George L. Dumont Hospital in Moncton, NB. Evelyn, was born in Halifax, NS. And came to the Miramichi in 1971 and resided in Loggieville with her husband Lewis Jepson. Evelyn worked at Save Easy in Chatham for many years as a Cashier and was active with the St Andrew's Church in Loggieville, NB. She is survived by daughter, Tina (Kevin) Demeau of Miramichi, N.B.; sons, David (Carmen) Jepson of Badger, Nfld, Pat (Adeline) Jepson of Weldfield, N.B.; sister, Pat Fraser of Halifax N.S.; Sister-in-law, Winnie Dixon of Halifax, N.S.; brother-in-law, Edward Boyd; Grandchildren, Richard, Steven, Shawn, Kody and Ashley; Great-grandchildren, Kohen and Memphis and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Lewis Jepson, sister, Marlis Boyd; brothers, Garfield Dixon, Milton Dixon, Leonard Dixon. Evelyn Jepson rested at Maher's Funeral Home Miramichi, NB on Wednesday Dec 3rd from 7 to 9 and on Thursday Dec 4th from 2 to 4 And 7 to 9. Funeral service was held on Friday Dec 5th at 11am from Maher's Funeral Chapel Miramichi, NB., with Fr John Fraser officiating. Active Pallbearers were Roger Comeau, Kevin McCormack, Wavel McCormack, Bobby Comeau, Billy Walsh and Frank Robichaud. Honorary Pallbearers were Kody Demeau, Steven Jepson, Tim Robichaud, Edgar Murray, Jim Muck, John Kerr, Sonny Tremblay, Peter LeBelle, Jason Manuel and Arthur Richard. Organist Jacqueline and Soloist organist Ashley Demeau, Soloist, Tanya Whitty, Readers were Adeline Jepson and Sharon Taylor. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements were under the care of Maher's Funeral Home Miramichi, NB. Alma Mary Goguen

The death of Alma Mary Goguen of Chatham Head, NB, occurred on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 70. Born in Chatham Head, NB, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Henrietta Goguen. Alma is survived by: one sister; Loretta Goguen of Chatham Head, NB; seven brothers; Alyre, Lucien (Bertha), Fidele, Emile all of Chatham Head, NB, Roy (Judy) of Nelson, NB, Manuel of Chatham Head, NB, Everett (Lillian) of Nelson, NB, special niece: Brenda Landry and special great nephew: Ryan Goguen; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Alma is predeceased by: one sister: Mary, two brothers: Leo and Anthony. The family received visitors at Bell's Funeral Home on Thursday, December 4th, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated from the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church on Friday at 11 am with Father Bob McGuire officiating. Organist: Eileen Butler accompanied the choir. Readers were: Tracy Goguen and Tanya Nicols. Active pallbearers were: Ryan Goguen, Junior Goguen, Tony Goguen, Gary Goguen, Reg Landry and Ken Duffy. Burial will take place in the St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery later in the spring. In Alma's memory, donations may be made to a memorial of one's choice. Perley D. Hambrook

Mr. Perley D. Hambrook, husband of Mona (McLean) Hambrook of 213 Edward Court, Miramichi, passed away Monday September 29, 2008, at Dr. George Dumont Hospital. Born in Renous NB, he was the son of the late Mark & Susan (Underhill) Hambrook. He was retired from sales. He was a member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Blackville, member of Northumberland Lodge # 17 F & AM, member of Moncton Lodge of Perfection, member of Britton Chapter Rose Croix, member of Harrington Chapter Rose Croix NB Consistency, member of Luxor Temple, Supreme Counsel 33 degree. Besides his wife Mona, he is survived by three sisters; Isa Reid of Fredericton; Leslie Hustins of Lower Sackville; Judy Travis (Edgley) of Renous; two brothers; Sterling (Melva) Hambrook of Renous; William (Wanda) Hambrook of Moncton; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers; Floyd, Mark and Donald. At Perley's request there was no visitation or funeral. A private graveside service was held Saturday October 4, 2008 at 2 p.m. from Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, with Father Douglas Barrett officiating. Allan Joseph Kelly

The death of Mr. Allan Joseph Kelly, husband of the late Leontine (Doiron) Kelly, occurred Wednesday October 1, 2008, at Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 105. Born in Point Sapin NB, he was the son of the late William & Judith (McDiarmid) Kelly. He was a member of St Mary's Roman Catholic, Church, Newcastle, a past member of K.O.C., Newcastle. A long time member of the Old Folk Song Festival, he attended since 1958, he participated in the church choir of Beaverbrook for many years. Allan was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Allan is survived by two sons, Roger of Chatham ON, Clarence of Miramichi; and a special son, Joseph of Calgary Alberta; four daughters, Bertha (Gilbert) Brideau of Chatham ON, Irma (James) McNamara of Miramichi NB, Germaine Smith of Lower Newcastle NB, Theresa (Israel) Holmes of Miramichi; Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He has seen the 5th generation five times. Besides his parents and his wife, Allan was predeceased by three sons, Martin, Clarence and Edgar; two daughters, Theresa and Mabel; eight brothers, John, Jim, Tom, Fred, Eli, Edmund, Desie and Dan; three sisters, Denise, Sarah and Jane. Mr. Allan Joseph Kelly rested at Davidson's Funeral Home, 597 Old King George Hwy, Miramichi, with visitation on Saturday evening from 7 to 9 and Sunday 2 to 4 & 7 to 9. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, October 6, 2008, at 11 a.m. from St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, with Father Stanislas Paulin officiating. Organist was Mary Butler. Hymns wee "Here I Am Lord", "Ma Maison, ta Maison", "O Mother Saint Anne", "Songs of the Angels" and "Amazing Grace" Burial followed in the church cemetery. At the request of the family donations to St Mary's Roman Catholic Church Restoration Fund, or a memorial of ones choice would be appreciated. Active Pallbearers were: Cyril Judin, David Kelly, Michael Chambers, Robert Smith, Daryl Mazerolle and Ronald Austin. Arrangements in care of Davidson's Funeral Home (622-7464)

Mrs. Ovilda Hachey (Emoff)

Mrs. Ovilda Hachey (Emoff) widow of Alex Hachey, formerly of Miramichi, NB passed away suddenly October 6th, 2008 at the age of 80 in Brampton, ON. She will be sadly missed by family & friends.

Judson F. Sellars
1928 - 2008

Judson Floyd Sellars, husband of Mabel Sellars, of John Street, Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Saturday morning, October 4, 2008, at the age of 80. Born in North Sydney, N.S., on March 10, 1928, he was the son of the late Elizah and Mary (Bennett) Sellars. He was a retired employee of the Canadian Armed Forces (R.C.A.F.), employed for the first 25 years as an Armament Technician and for the last 11 years of his Military service, as Manager of the Officers Mess, at the former CFB Chatham. He was a member of St. Andrews United Church, Miramichi; a member of the Men's Choir of his church; a member of the Miramichi Lodge, # 18, F&AM; a member of the Miramichi Shrine Club; a member of the Miramichi Golf & Country Club. He is survived by his wife, the former Mabel Morgan; three sons, James Sellars (Barbara), of Moncton, Robert Sellars (Joanne), Danny Sellars (Cindy), all of Miramichi; two sisters, Mary Moore (Walter), of Halifax, N.S. and Mae Sutton (Kenneth), of Toronto, Ont.; one brother, Roy Sellars, of Toronto, Ont.; five grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his step mother, Elizabeth Sellars; one sister, Laurine Beer; one brother, Norman Sellars. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Monday. The funeral service was held from St. Andrews United Church, Wellington St., Miramichi, on Tuesday, October 8, 2008, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Charlene Maguire-Macknight. Music for the service was provided by David Mann and the hymns were "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art". The anthem, offered by the men's choir, was "In The Garden". The Scriptures were read by Barbara Sellars; Family remembrances were given by son, James Sellars and a message of appreciation from the family was read by son, Danny Sellars. The honorary pallbearers were members of the Miramichi Shrine Club, who sat as a body and formed an honor guard, following the service. The active pallbearers were Alvin MacNaughton, Keith Holland, Andre Hachey, Bruce Morgan, Matthew Sellars, Kevin Flanagan. Following the service, a reception with the family was held in St. Luke's Hall, provided by the ladies of the U.C.W. of St. Andrews Church. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Miramichi.
