Owen W. Conrad
1928-2013
Owen William Conrad, 84, of the Jordan Lifecare Center and formerly Salisbury and Conquerall Bank N.S. passed away at the Center on February 27, 2013.
Born in Bridgewater N.S. he was a son of the late William H. and Ida (Oickle) Conrad. A longtime employee of Acadia Gas Engines, in retirement he operated Conrad Family Cleaners in Bridgewater. He loved music and played several instruments and enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting and fishing.
Survived and sadly missed by his beloved wife of 42 years Cheryl (Beacroft); his children Eric (Elizabeth) of Lower Bedque, P.E., Stephen of Moncton, Lori Zawadzki (Matt) of Lutes Mountain; a sister Jenny Conrad and by several nieces nephews and cousins. Predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held Friday March 1, 2013 at 3 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Fredericton Road, Salisbury N.B.
Memorials to the Friends of the Jordan Lifecare Foundation if desired can be arranged with the Salisbury Funeral Home and Crematorium (372-4800) who are in care of the arrangements.
Dawn Sherwood
1975-2011
Sherwood, Dawn Elizabeth, (Jones) - Dawn Sherwood, 36, of Telkwa B.C. and formerly Salisbury passed away by accident November 11, 2011 in Telkwa.
Born in Moncton, she was the beloved daughter of Douglas and Debbie (Cummins) Jones. A graduate of J.M.A. Armstrong High, class of 1994 where she participated in many sports, she was employed at the Home Hardware in Smithers B.C.
A loving daughter, wife and mother she will be sadly missed by her parents Douglas and Debbie Jones of Boundary Creek, her husband Stephen and their children Lee and Kaelan at home. Survived also by her brother Derrick Jones (Joanne) of River Glade and their children Jessica and Trinity, paternal grandmother Florence MacDonald of Salisbury, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, her father in law Lee Sherwood and brother in law Darrin (Kelly). Predeceased by her mother in law Myrna Sherwood.
A Celebration of Dawn's Life will be held in the Chapel of the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) on Monday November 28 at 7 p.m. with Rev. Dan Compton officiating .
Memorials in Dawn's memory to a Living Memorial for her children would be appreciated and arranged at the funeral home.
Leola May Smith
1917-2012
Leola May Smith, 94, of the Jordan Life Care Centre and formerly Monteagle, passed away Monday, January 9, 2012 at her residence.
Born in Monteagle, Leola was the daughter of the late Thomas and Alice (Neal) Lewis. She was a retired cook, a longtime member of the Second North River Baptist Church and WMS. Leola also belonged to the Second North River Women's Institute.
Leola is survived and missed by her daughters Sylvia Smith of Moncton, Marlene (Elzie) Beaman of Indian Mountain; sons Richard (Gayle) of Albert County, Norman (Judy) of Edgetts Landing, Pastor Dennis (Donna) of Second North River and Larry (Marsha) of Monteagle; sister Rachel (late Abel) Lewis of Jordan Life Care Centre; brother Freeman (Stella) Lewis of Monteagle; sister in law Joyce Lewis of Monteagle; 22 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband John (1984); sisters Flora Lewis, Hazel Dobson, Sadie Lutes, Vera Lewis and infant sister Rachel; brothers Donald, Oliver, Ray, Harold, John, George and Alfred.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral will be held at Second North River Baptist Church Thursday at 2 pm with Rev. Mark Hunter officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations if desired to the Second North River Church, Jordan Life Care Centre or the Red Cross would be appreciated by the family.

Deborah Bannister-Garber
1951-2012
Deborah Irene Bannister-Garber, 61, of Salisbury passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 at her home.
Born in Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Ethel (Mason) Bannister. Deborah worked as a secretary at the Moncton Air Traffic Control Center until her retirement. She enjoyed knitting and putting together puzzles.
Deborah is survived and missed by her son Richard (Christie) of Canaan Forks and grandson Edward; brothers David (Helen), Leonard and Perry (Maureen) all of Colpitts Settlement; sisters Ruth Leaman (Russell) and Kelly Hodgson (John) both of Ferndale and Coreen Clark (Doug) of Petitcodiac and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she is predeceased by a sister Helen Bishop and brother Sonny Bannister.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Thursday, May 31, 6 - 9 pm and from where the funeral will be held Friday, June 1 at 2 pm. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Leny Langelaan
1930-2017
Helena ‘Leny’ Theresa Agatha Langelaan (nee vanHeyningen), of Salisbury passed away unexpectedly in the Moncton Hospital surrounded by her family on February 4, 2017.
Born June 23, 1930 in Monster, Netherlands, she was one of 13 children of P.W. and Helena vanHeyningen. She and Gerald (1928-2003), were married and came to Canada in 1954 where they bought a farm on the Old Fredericton Road near Salisbury. They developed it into a successful dairy farm, which continues as Langelaans Holsteins Ltd.
Family was everything to Leny – she was so very proud of each and every member of her family (from her father, down to the most recent great-grandson). She was a full-time mother, chauffeur, homemaker, gardener, cook, and partner in the farm. In a time when it was not a given, Leny got her driver’s license so that she could get her children to their extra-curricular activities.
Leny was also active in St Jude's Parish where she loved to sing in the choir. In her younger years she and Gerald enjoyed ballroom dancing, listening to music, traveling, and just spending time with their family. Since Gerald’s passing, Leny enjoyed cards with good friends and family, walking with her friends, Monday Morning Merry-Makers, Rosary Prayer Group, and swimming with her Aquacize friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Marlene Strang (Fred) of Fredericton, Margaret Leger (Joel) of Dartmouth; four sons, Robert of Vancouver, John (Patti) of Riverview, Paul (Rhonda) of Salisbury, Fred of Salisbury; eight grandchildren; four great-grand children; her sister Ria (Piet) Persoon, of the Netherlands, and brother Wil vanHeyningen of Thailand, and numerous nieces and nephews. Leny was predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, Gerald, eight brothers (Netherlands and England), and three sisters (Netherlands and England).
The family will receive relatives, friends and neighbours at the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) on Wednesday, February 8, 6 to 9 p.m. Prayers & Memories Celebration will also be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 8, at 8:30 p.m. The funeral will take place at St. Jude's Church, Salisbury on Thursday, February 9 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of the Moncton Hospital ER and the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and would appreciate memorials to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital or charity of choice in lieu of flowers.
Grace Troop
1940-2017
Grace Evelyn Troop (Gracie), 77, of Sackville Special Care Home and formerly Midgic passed away February 13, 2017 at the Moncton Hospital.
Born in Turtle Creek, she was the daughter of Grace Murray Dempsey. Gracie lived with her grandparents Timothy and Bessie Murray in Turtle Creek and later Salisbury, until she married Neil Troop. They lived in Salisbury and Lutes Mountain before retiring to Neil's parents home in 1990. Gracie enjoyed gardening, country living and had a great love for animals.
She is survived by her daughter Ann Troop of Moncton and son Norvel of Midgic; sister Wiarda (Pinky) Kirchmayer and nephew Timothy Kirchmayer both of Kentville and cousins, nieces and nephews. Gracie was predeceased by her husband Neil (2005).
The service will be held at a later date to be announced. Arrangements are in the care of Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800).

William (Bill) Taylor
1917-2012
William (Bill) Wallace Taylor, 94, of Salisbury, passed away at the Moncton Hospital Monday, July 16, 2012.
Born in Salisbury, he was a son of the late Charles W. and Ida (Smith) Taylor. Bill was a retired shipper from No. 5 Supply & Services. He was a member and choir member of the Salisbury United Church and was also a member of the Gospel Men's Chorus. Bill belonged to the Monday Morning Merry Makers, he was an avid music lover and loved to play his guitar. He was the oldest member of the Salisbury Legion Branch No. 31 and a Veteran of World War II serving with the N.B. Rangers.
He is survived by his daughter Sandra Sim with whom he resided; grandchildren Sarah Herring, John Emond, Ian Sim and Ellen Sim and six great grandchildren. Bill is predeceased by his former wife Aleen O'Blenis; brother Roscoe and grandson David Emond.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Tuesday, July 17 from 7 - 9 p.m. and where the funeral will be held in the chapel Wednesday, July 18 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Dan Compton officiating. Interment at Pine Hill Cemetery.
