Raymond Marsden
1939-2013
Raymond G. Marsden, 73, of Jordan Life Care Centre and formerly of Salisbury and Havelock, passed away Thursday, May 09, 2013 at the Moncton Hospital.
Born in Singhampton, ON., he was a son of the late Harry and Lealah (Reynolds) Marsden. He worked for thirty-seven years at Pilkington Glass. Raymond was an avid horsman, an active owner and trainer in the standardbred industry, he enjoyed playing golf and was a devoted family man.
Raymond is survived and missed by his wife of twenty-two years Loris (Thorne); children David (Gail) of Collingwood, ON., Ashlea Wood (Tony) of Moncton, James Constantine (Lori) of Dobson Corner and Steven Marsden of Ingersol, ON.; grandchildren Ashley, Alicia, Bernie, Brittney, Bradley and Heidi; great grandchildren Taylor, Lillya and one soon to be; sisters Olive Gordon and Wilma Smith; brothers Richard, Jim and Bob; former wife and mother of his two sons Joan; mother-in-law Betty Thorne of Petitcodiac; brothers and sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by grandson Jason Marsden; brother Russell; sisters Shirley North, Dorothy Johnson, Mary Varley and Greer North.
The funeral will be held from the Petitcodiac Baptist Church, Saturday, May 11 at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Woodworth officiating. There will be no visitation. Interment at Singhampton Union Cemetery, ON.
Arrangements are in the care of Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800).
Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Friends of the Jordan Life Care Centre or charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
Fred Douthwright
1922-2017
Fred Manning Douthwright, 94, of Salisbury passed away peacefully Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Veterans' Health Care Centre, Moncton. Born in Petitcodiac, he was a son of the late Manning and Flora (Davis) Douthwright. Fred served his country in World War II as a Gunner with the 65th Anti Tank Battery throughout Continental Europe. He retired from C.F.B. Moncton as a Carpenter Supervisor after 35 years. He was the last surviving charter member of the Middlesex Baptist Church and was a member of the RCL Branch 31 Salisbury and the Salisbury Lions Club. Fred enjoyed golf in his younger years, hunting and time spent at the camp and seldom missed a Toronto Blue Jays game.
Survived by his beloved wife of 63 years Winnifred (Steeves); his children Clayton and Brian of Salisbury and Joanne Mitton (David) of Salisbury West; cherished granddaughter Melissa of Moncton and great granddaughter Myla and by nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Gerald and Earl and an infant sister.

Resting at the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Wednesday Feb. 15 from 6-8 p.m. A Legion Tribute to a Veteran Service will be held at 5:45 p.m. A family Graveside Service will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens at a later date.

David A. Alward
1951-2013
David Allan Alward, 61, of Salisbury Back Road passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Moncton he was the youngest child of the late Charles and Cinthie (Blakney) Alward. David was a former employee of the Chris Rock Tavern and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survived by his sisters Joan Steeves of Salisbury Back Road and Elizabeth (Betty) Gallant of Riverview; brothers William (Bill) and his wife Ida of Coverdale and Roger with whom he resided. Predeceased by his brothers Clinton, Bud and Wayne.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 15 at 11 a.m. at Five Points Cemetery.

Edna Humphrey
1907-2013
Edna Humphrey, 105, of Moncton, resident of Spencers Memorial Home, was called from her earthly dwelling to her Heavenly Home to be with her Saviour and Lord on May 11, 2013.
Born in Elgin on August 25, 1907, she was the daughter of the late John and Nettie (Bishop) Crandall. Edna retired from the CN after many years of service and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her son Dalton (Theresa) Humphrey, daughter Donelda MacKlem (Norm deceased 2010), grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two infant sons, Dana and Jackie, sisters Etta Young and Frances Crandall and brother Bart Crandall.
A private family committal service was held at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with Pastor L. Buckingham officiating. Interment was at the New Canaan Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Gideon Bible Society or charity of choice would be appreciated.
Aleen Hicks
1931-2017
Aleen Esther Smith Hicks, 85, escaped the bonds of Alzheimer’s and went to be with the Lord on February 5, 2017. The devotion of her family and her firm belief in God supported her even to her last days, and she could sing gospel songs almost until the end. She was impossibly gentle and kind and had a childlike wonder for the world around her. She had a song in her heart.
Aleen was born to the late Raymond and Florence (Mullen) Smith in Port Maitland, Nova Scotia on March 24, 1931. She started singing as a young girl, blessed with a strong soprano voice, an ear for harmony, and piano skills. She sang solos, and trios with her mother and sister for many years, later singing in trios with her children.
She married Rev. Leslie Hazen Hicks on June 7, 1950 in Port Maitland. Together they raised three children: Gary, Donald and Nancy. She loved her husband and children, and delighted in her role as a wife and mother.
Aleen served as a pastor’s wife in Reformed Baptist (and later Wesleyan) churches in Royalton and Bloomfield, NB; Fort Fairfield, ME; Fredericton, NB; Ingomar and Sandy Point, NS; Havelock, NB and Crapaud, PEI. Later she served with her husband in United Baptist churches in Elgin and Kinnear Settlement, NB.
She is survived by her husband Leslie; her sons Gary (Connie) and Donald (Brenda) and daughter Nancy (David) Cruickshank; also her grandchildren Shannon, Aleen, Moriah, Kayla and Kelsey, and great-grandchildren Ramaira, Caleb, Samuel, Abigail and Steven. She is also survived by her sister Hazel (Douglas) Trask. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Henry and Raymond.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) visiting will be Tuesday, February 7 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and from where the funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 8 at 1 p.m. Interment will be at a later time.

Myrna Melvin
1929-2013
Myrna Madeline Melvin, 83, of Moncton and formerly of Havelock passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Moncton Hospital.
Born in Havelock she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Pearl (Currie) Jackson. She was a former operator of a Group Home in Saint John. Myrna was a member of the Havelock United Baptist Church and the Royal Canadian Legion Moncton Branch #6. She enjoyed being outdoors, especially during gardening and berry picking time, doing crafts and dancing. Myrna especially enjoyed being with her beloved family and many friends.
She is survived by daughter Kathy Melvin (Alex) of Moncton; sons Brian (Barbara Ann) of Beaver Harbour, Danny of Moncton, Hal (Jean) of Saint John and Chris (Brenda) of Prince of Wales; grandchildren Shelly, Paul, Nathan, Haley, Scott, Courtney, Jayden, Leah, Joshua, Corey and Dustin; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband of fifty years Harold; son Gary; daughter Joanne; sister Phyllis Jackson; brother Floyd Jackson; nephew Floyd Jackson Jr. and special friend Gordon McNalty.
Resting at Salisbury Funeal Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Friday, July 5 from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. and from where the funeral will be held Saturday, July 6 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Jarvis Lepper officiating. Interment at Greenhill Cemetery.

Robert Horsman
1927-2013
Robert Scott Horsman, 85, of Salisbury passed away Wednesday, July 03, 2013 at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital.
Born in Steeves Mountain, he was the son of the late Frederick and Diana (Gaynor) Horsman. Robert worked as diesel mechanic for CNR until retirement. He was a member and past master of the Harmony Lodge Salisbury, a member of the Shriners and a former member of the Salisbury Lions Club.
Survived by his children Robert (Debbie) of Riverview, Terry (Nadine) of Winnipeg, and Brett (Lynn) of Moncton; grandchildren Jamie and Trevor, Tyler and Nicole and Drake and Jillian; several great grandchildren; sister Ann Herrington; brother Myles; step-mother Ruth Horsman of Steeves Mountain; sister-in-law Iris Horsman; special friend Erma Horsman and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by wife Rose (2008); son Donald; brother William; sisters Jean O'Brien and Mona Weagle and infant siblings Myrna and James.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) visiting will be Friday, July 5, 7 - 9 p.m. with a Masonic service at 6:45 p.m. and from where the funeral will take place Saturday, July 6 at 11 a.m. with The Ven. John Sharpe officiating. Interment at Boundary Creek Cemetery.
