Predeceased by his mother and father and his brother Gerald. Leaving to mourn his wife Betty-Ann; daughter Naomi and son Morrissey; first wife Geraldine Johnson and their children: Wayne Johnson and wife Marcella, Gerald Johnson and wife Alva, Zeta Brown and husband Wallace, Kevin and wife Ruby, Keith and wife Debbie, Jennifer, Dwight and wife Karen, Geraldine Russell and husband Fred, Morrissette Denik and husband Nebojsa, Graham and wife Kim; three brothers; three sisters; nineteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; as well as other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral Service 10 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2003, from George Street United Church. Then, a service will take place at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2003 from Bethany United Church, Catalina. SMITH, Gladys (nee Gregory) - Passed peacefully away at the L.A. Miller Centre on December 3, 2003, Gladys Smith of Queen`s Cove, age 93. Predeceased by her husband Robert (1979), her parents, seven brothers and one sister. Leaving to mourn with many happy memories, her son Ed (Nellie), Queen`s Cove, grand-daughter Shelley (Carman Carroll), St. John`s, great-grand-daughters, Natalie Hunter, Rebecca Carroll and Susan Cadman (Rick), and a large circle of family and friends, especially members of the ACW and UCW of Queen`s Cove, both of which she was a life long active member, and the congregation of St. Aidan`s Church, Queen`s Cove, where she was an organist for over thirty years. Predeceased by her sister Mary in 1997. Remembering her with fond and loving memories are her mother Helen Hood, brother Stephen, son Scott and family in B.C., stepbrother Peter Hood and family, her extended family at the Hoyles-Escasoni Complex, special friends Nora, Linda and Bev, as well as other relatives and friends. NURSE, J. Gordon - Age 77 years. passed away peacefully at his home on September 8, 1999, after a courageous battle against cancer. Beloved husband of Paula Bennett. Loving father of Michael Gordon (Greer) Nurse, Ottawa. Loving grandfather of Carmen (Dave) LeBlanc, Ottawa, Scott Nurse (Lisa), Toronto and Rebecca Nurse, Ottawa. Proud great-grandfather of Spencer LeBlanc. Predeceased by his first wife Margaret Bennett; and brothers: Edward and Charles Nurse; Brother-in-law of Pats Nurse, St. Catharines and Mary Nurse, St. John`s, Nfld. Gordon will be greatly missed by all his nieces and nephews and by a wide circle of friends. Gordon held the position of Chief Building Inspector for the City of Westmount and was Secretary of the Architectural and Planning Commission for 31 years. He was instrumental in developing a zoning by-law adopted in 1963 for the Westmount Housing Project on Hillside Avenue. He loved the game of golf and played as often as possible. He was a member of the Kanawaki Golf Club and the Links O`Tay Golf Club for a number of years until his health would not allow him to enjoy the game any longer. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, Perth, Ont., on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John`s Church, Perth, on Saturday, September 11th at 11 a.m. Interment Pinecrest cemetery , Ottawa.
