TULK, David C. - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Complex on Wednesday, June 14, 2000, David C. Tulk, in his 86th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his beloved wife of 60 years Emma Cassie Tulk; two sons: Fred (Violet) Tulk and David (Carol) Tulk; two grandchildren: Matthew and Martin; niece Donna Morgan (Jake); brother-in-law Robert Tulk of Deer Lake; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday; 10- 12 noon, 2- 4 p.m. and 7- 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 10- 12 noon Saturday. Funeral service to be held 2 p.m., Saturday, June 17, 2000 from the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Craigmillar Avenue. Interment to follow at the Anglican cemetery , Kenmount Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the General Hospital Health Foundation or a charity of ones choice.

ROBERTS, Owen Edwin - passed away suddenly in Florida on April 7, 2001. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Margaret and daughter Lois (Jim Delaney); two special grandchildren: Christopher and Jennifer; one sister Jean (Roy Benson), Grand Falls-Windsor; and a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by parents William and Marjorie; brother Harry; and sister Bernice Kirkham. Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2001 from Barrett`s Chapel. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant cemetery . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Leaving to mourn his wife Peggy; mother Sadie Mercer; daughters: Charlene (Brian Mercer), Aimee (Chris Morgan); sisters: Rosalind (Larry) Power, Frances (Gerald) Sheppard, Linda (Owen) Green, Louise (Calvin) Drover; brothers: Lewis (Janice), Glenn (Maria), Darrell (Susan Petten); and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Moore`s Funeral Home, Bay Roberts. Visitation Saturday and Sunday 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., Monday 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon. Funeral service to take place on Monday, August 11, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Matthew`s Anglican Church, Bay Roberts. Interment in the St. Matthew`s Anglican cemetery , Bay Roberts. GILLAM, Mary - passed away, after a lengthy illness, at her daughter`s residence in Gander, on April 9, 2001, Mary Gillam, aged 89 years. Predeceased by her husband, Emmanuel, in 1984. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughters: Angus, Irene, Jane, Margaret, Mary and Rita; and sons: Charles, James, Joseph, Michael, Robert, William and Craig. Funeral Service to be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. in South Branch, Codroy Valley with interment to follow at South Branch.

KELLAND, Shirley (nee Kennedy) - passed away at The Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, June 13, 2000 following a lengthy illness, Shirley Kelland, aged 69 years. Predeceased by her sisters: Rose Hurley, Doris Bennett and Irene Ivey. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories husband Clifford; daughters: Valerie Burry and Margot Power (Chris); son: Stephen (special friend Charmaine); beloved grandchildren: Kelly Burry, Christina and Kimberley Power and Matthew Fitzgerald; sisters: Elizabeth Chafe and Jean Hanames (Ed); brothers: Robert (Winifred), Reg (Marjorie) and Jim; nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. At Shirley`s request cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at Carnell`s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7--9 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Thursday, June 15, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. from the Carnell Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at the Anglican cemetery , Kenmount Road. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to The Newfoundland Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation.

KOCZEN, Cynthia Ann (nee Bishop) - Passed peacefully away at her residence, Wilmington, U.S.A., July 28, 2003, after a short and courageous struggle with cancer. Cynthia was formerly from St. John`s, NL, and was 2 weeks away from her 57th birthday. She leaves to mourn her devoted husband Stanley J.; daughters: Debra Ann, Jennifer Lynn and son Stanley; mother and father Chesley and Phyllis Bishop; sisters: Peggy Rice (Philip) and Sandra Carrigan (Bill); brothers: David (Peggy), Donald (Marg), Jim (Sue), Randy (Donna), as well as aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and friends. Funeral took place at St. Thomas of Villa Nova Church at Wilmington, Friday, August 1 at 10 a.m., followed by interment in Wildwood cemetery , Wilmington.

Left with fond and loving memories: daughters: Ann, Shelley O`Brien (Mike) and Jennifer (Norman Williams); sons: Jim (Debby), Frank (Ruth), Whitby, Ont.; Tony (Maureen), John, Calgary; and Jeff (Jill Cumpston), Montreal; grandchildren: Robyn, Zachary, Victoria, Adam, Meighan, and Stephen; sisters: Lillian Walsh (Pete), Southern Harbour, Placentia Bay and Alice Bailey, Freshwater, Placentia Bay; special friend Mary Hicks; also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul`s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Rd. Visitation Wednesday 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. Funeral Mass on Saturday, June 17th at 11 a.m. from St. Teresa`s Church. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Children`s Wish Foundation or a Children`s Charity of one`s choice.

Visitation Tuesday, June 13 from 7-10 p.m. and Wednesday, June 14 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. Funeral Mass on Thursday, June 15 from Mary Queen of Peace Church at 9:30 a.m. Interment at Holy Sepulchre cemetery .

BAXTER, Mrs. Katherine Georgiana (nee Morris) - Born May 26, 1912 in St. John`s, NF, died June 10, 2000 in Brantford, Ont. Educated at Memorial and McGill Universities, and formerly a resident of St. Lambert, Quebec, she was predeceased by her brother, Pilot Officer David Gordon Morris (June 9, 1942), and her husband, Dr. Robert G. Baxter (January 1996). She is survived be her sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Pearce of Ottawa, and her sons; David Gordon (Dusty, with daughters Evalon and Willow), Dr. John William Morris (Penny), James Durward Falconer (Brenda), and Robert George Harwell. Georgie will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Andrew, Oliver, Erica, Megan, and John. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2000 at the Central Presbyterian Church, Brantford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Memorial University (Kevin Smith at 709-737-4354) or the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation (709-753-8521).

Leaving to mourn one brother: Douglas King and wife Peg at Cambridge, Ontario; one sister: Olive Baker; daughters: Lorraine Clancey (Tom), Jean Fulford, Joan Conway (Dermot), Kay Chaulk (Derick), Carol Cadwell (David), Sharmaine Bursey (Ron) and Audrey Crane; sons: Roy Alcock (Thelma) and Ronnie Alcock (Paula); 25 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and special family of the late Gerald King of Shea Heights, her many special friends and relatives. Also her special friends at Mount Pleasant Manor. Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. from 12 noon-10 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m.-12 noon Tuesday. Funeral services 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003 from Gower Street United Church. Interment at Mount Pleasant cemetery . It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jean Ellen Messervey announce her passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville on Thursday, August 7, 2003 at the age of 98. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, daughters: Anne (George) Evans, Dr. Diane Messervey, both of Barachois Brook; son David (Pat), St. John`s, NL; sister Chris Murphy of Whitby, ON; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Rev. E.A. Butler and Caroline Temple; husband Morgan Messervey; sisters: Claire Perry and Mollie McPherson; brothers: Temple, Vincent, William and John. Friends may visit Fillatre`s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing beginning Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 10th at 2:00 p.m. from the All Saints Anglican Church, Stephenville Crossing with Rev. Karen Laldin officiating. Interment will follow at the Church cemetery . As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital Foundation or to the All Saints Anglican Church Memorial Fund.
