Collins, Amy "Beulah"
COLLINS, Amy Beulah (nee Diamond) – Passed peacefully away at home, on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, Amy Beulah Collins, aged 75. Predeceased by her parents, Amelia Nina (Clarke) and Frederick William Diamond. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories and thanking God for her life are her husband of 54 years, Duke Collins; her children Judi (Eric) Barter (Old Perlican), Bill (Marilyn) Collins (Paradise), Marilyn Pilkington (Kanata, ON), and John (Darlene) Collins (St. John’s); grandchildren James (Wilhelmina) Barter, Danielle Collins, Mark Barter, Adam Pilkington, Heather Collins, Andrew Collins, Alex Pilkington, and Gregory Collins; sister Marie (the late Norman) Porter (Mississauga, ON) and brother Lawrence (Phyllis) Diamond (St. John’s), as well as sisters-in-law Pamela Brann (Ajax, ON) and June Collins (St. John’s) and brother-in-law, Barrie Collins (Oshawa, ON); numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. “Gramo” will also be sorely missed by her fierce protector and companion, Sparkie. Beulah dedicated her life to service to others – to her family, her church, her community at large. She was a loyal member of Kiwanis of Grenfell and served as President from 2002 to 2003. She was also a long-standing member and Regent of Sir Wilfred Grenfell IODE, National Councillor for Eastern Newfoundland, and a Past President of the Executive Council of the Provincial Chapter. She also served the St. Clare’s Hospital Auxiliary in several capacities, including President. Her leadership and commitment to all organizations was given with conviction of the value of their impact on society. To those who knew Beulah, there is no doubt that she has fulfilled what God asks of each of us. She has lived justly, she has been constant in love, and she has walked humbly with her God (Michah ch 6 v 8). Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation Thursday and Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Saturday, June 19 at 2:00 p.m. from Cowan Heights United Church, Frecker Drive. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted, or donations in Beulah’s memory to the Victorian Order of Nurses. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to VON nurses Sandy, Sheila and Ellen and private nurse Maia, who provided such loving care to Beulah throughout her illness, and to Dr. Allison Furey, who helped them to fulfill her wish to die peacefully at home.

GARRISON, Lyle: Died suddenly on Saturday, June 12, 2004 at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, Lyle Garrison, aged 77 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories loving wife Kathe, four children: Karl (Susan), Marlayne (Bill) Partridge, Ronald (Anne), Raymond (Sutama) and five grandchildren, brothers Gordon and Russell, sister Doreen, other relatives and friends. JACKMAN, Robert Clement – passed away on Friday, June 18, 2004, beloved son of Dorothy (Power) and Clem Jackman. Predeceased by his brother Paul in 1979. Bob leaves to mourn his treasured sons: Douglas and Graham Jackman; their mother Cathy (O’Keefe); brothers: David (Patsy Connors), Brian (Rhonda Traverse), B.C.; and Gerry (Peggy MacInnes), NS; his only sister, Anne (Joh Stobie), NS and their families; mother-in-law, Rita O’Keefe; many loved aunts, uncles and cousins. Miller Center, Palliative Care Unit, Garrett Butler age 53 years formerly of Bauline. Predeceased by his father, Matthew Butler. Leaving to mourn with precious memories his wife Carol (nee Thorne); daughters: Robyn (Jason) and Pamela (Adam); precious granddaughter Kaitlen; mother Hilda Butler; brother William (Shirley); sister Sharon (Russell); special cousin Ralph (Debbie); as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. EVANS, Muriel E., SRN, RFN, SCM: Died peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, Muriel Evans. Predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Anne Evans a sister and two brothers. She is survived by her sisters: Olwen Tarbox and Lillian White both living in England as well as special niece Pauline Lawrence (Don) and family of Dartmouth, NS; other nieces and nephews. She will also be mourned by her numerous friends in Newfoundland. Muriel immigrated to Newfoundland in 1955 and worked for the Cottage Hospitals Division of the Department of Health until 1982. At Muriel’s request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. from Wesley United Church. LAING, Mary M., RN – St. Clares Graduate, Class of 1953. Passed peacefully away on Monday, June 7, 2004 Mary M. Laing, RN (nee May Rose Doherty). Predeceased by her first husband Kevin Doherty, 1959 and her second husband Cecil Laing, 1992. Left with fond and loving memories her son Les (Dianne), granddaughters Meaghan and Hollis, sister Violet Trenchard of Lacombe, Alta. Also many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his parents Bob and Win, brothers Ron, Boyd, Murray (Muck), Eric and Lester (Hutch), sisters-in-law Bride and Rachel, and nephew Dennis.
