Phillipps, Elsie
PHILLIPPS, Elsie May (Teacher)- Passed peacefully away on December 2, 2004 at the Agnes Pratt Home, Elsie May Phillipps (Green), age 91 years, formerly of Ship Island, Greenspond, Bonavista Bay. Predeceased by her husband Frederick Phillipps in March 1997. Remembering her life with happy and loving memories are son Gordon, wife Sandy in Portugal Cove; daughter Janet, husband Haruo Konishi in Fredericton, New Brunswick; sister Carrie Glover in Hamilton, Ontario; grandchildren: Katy, Heather and Rebecca (husband Vaughan Benson) and great-grandson Jack. Thanks to her former caregiver, Ann Drake Lynch, the caring staff of the Agnes Pratt Home and the Health Sciences Center, 4 North A. Cremation has taken place. A committal service will be held on Monday, December 06, 2004 at the General Protestant cemetery, Old Topsail Road, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson’s Association of Newfoundland and Labrador would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Carnell’s Funeral Home. “Always a Teacher”

Morris, Richard
MORRIS, Richard (Rick) - passed away suddenly after a short illness on Dec.3, 2004, Rick Morris, aged 46, of St. John's. Predeceased by his mother Geraldine. He leaves to mourn his wife Susan Pye, son Shane and daughter Anna; father Sidney; brothers Robert (Anne), Peter (Sally Ackerman), Philip (Susan); father-in-law Terry Pye; sister-in-law Alison Pye (Jim Weick); nephews Stephen, Timothy, Thomas, Christopher and Michael Morris and Aaron Weick; aunts Dorothy Halleran, Margaret Halleran, Rosemary Trimble (Blair), Sheila Morris; also many other family members and a large circle of close friends and colleagues. In his life and work with many groups and communities, Rick's compassion, sense of justice and fairness were paramount. He valued and cared deeply about the people and issues he was involved with. He will be sorely missed. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Monday, Dec.6 and Tuesday, Dec.7 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service at Gower Street United Church, Wednesday, Dec.8 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted. Donation's in Rick's name can be made to the charity of one's choice.

Hansford, Donald
HANSFORD, Donald J.: passed away suddenly at his residence on November 27th, 2004. Don Hansford age 70 years. Predeceased by his wife and his best friend Eva, infant son Neville; parents William and Mildred; brother Harry, as well as son-in-law Clem Smith. Left to mourn with profound grief and many cherished memories his loving children, Donna Shipway, Louise Joyce (Don); Paula Hansford; Howard Hansford (Geralyn) and Carla Hammond (Robert); 9 cherished grandchildren: Joanne and D.J. Shipway; Bailey and David Joyce; Courtney Smith; Erika and Samantha Hansford; and Roberta and Joseph Hammond; two great-grandchildren which he simply adored, Kyle and Micheala Shipway. Also left to mourn his loss are his special sister Louise Lawlor (John) and brother Roger Hansford (Angela), brothers in law, Howard Haynes (Mollie) and Neville Haynes (Rowena), sister in law Ruth Noseworthy. Also mourning the loss of this very gentle man is a large circle of other family members and many friends Don met through his many years with Newtel. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home 329 Freshwater Road on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday December 1st, 2004 at 9:30am from St. Pius X Church. Predeceased by parents, Augustine and Florence Sparrow and brother Noel Sparrow. Leaving to mourn husband Edward and beloved children: Karen, Victoria, B.C.; Sean (Diane), St. John's; Brian (Zennie), Toronto; Brenda (Peter); Janet (Paul), and Maureen, St. John's; grandchildren: Sean, Lisa and Mark Galway; brother, Joseph (Peggy); sister, Frances (Jim) Walsh and sister-in-law, Joan Sparrow; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius X Church, Smithville Crescent, on Monday, November 29, 2004, at 9:30 a.m. Interment at a later date.

Leaving to mourn is his wife Barbara (Marsh) of 35 years; four children: Lisa Wickens, Michelle Hennessey (Bernie); Raymond (Kim); and Kim Layman (Pat); five grandchildren: Jessica, Jonathan, Patrick, Holley and Stephanie; three brothers: Gerald, Herb (Lorraine); Gary (Monica); and one sister Marlene (Edgar); his mother-in-law Evelyn Marsh; special friends Leonard and Madeline, as well as a large number of relatives, friends and co-workers of Browning Harvey Ltd. Predeceased by her husband Sean Wallace O’Leary and son Padraic (Paddy). Leaving to mourn her loving family, two sons: Sean F. and Miceal (Mike) wife Joyce, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; two daughters: Mairin (Maureen) Hitsman and husband Michael, Tamarac, Florida and Sheilagh O’Leary; eight grandchildren: Keeley and Keegan O’Leary; Kaelen, Killian and Kieran Hitsman, Eamon Maren Ellis O’Leary and Eoin George O’Leary; three sisters: Madeleine Bedelia and Barbara; two brothers: Adolph and Gerald; sister-in-law: Deirdre O’Leary and many other relatives and friends.
