Vivian, Barbara Ellen
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Ellen Vivian. Barbara passed away on August 27th, 2010 at the age of 82 years. Barbara was the daughter of Sherriff Peter Lee and his wife, Elizabeth Power, and was born in 1928 in St. John's. She lived most of her life in Corner Brook, where she met her loving husband, Eugene Oldford Vivian, and raised their family of seven children. Barbara was predeceased by her son Brian Lee, and leaves to mourn her loving husband, Eugene (Bibs) after 60 years of marriage; her children, John (Lisa Inder), Robert (Margie Noftall), Janet, Mark, Paul (Mark Pundzius) and Neil (Margret Huebsch); and her grandchildren Trista, Kelsey, Matthew, Eric, Paul, Jonathan, Theo, Hans, Liesel, Ella and Eugene. Barbara (Bob) will be most remembered for her love of her husband Eugene and her children; and the fun and support that she experienced and enjoyed with her adventurous, and wonderfully close family friends in Corner Brook. She brought the gifts of culture, music, drama, literature, and history to her family and encouraged a passion for learning that was enjoyed by all her children. She was an avid, diverse, and complex reader; and her ability to recall historical events was outstanding and long admired by her family members. Barbara encouraged her children to learn and participate in various activities, including sports; even when she did not always share a similar passion herself. She encouraged her children to fly, sail the ocean, swim, skate, and ski, both downhill and X-Country, and to play various musical instruments. Somehow, she always had a warm meal waiting at the end of the activity for each child, regardless of the hour. Barbara set an excellent example for her children by volunteering in numerous roles while raising a large family. From baking and cooking for multiple events over the years; to giving her time fund raising for various causes; to assisting with numerous Church activities; participating in choirs and other musical events; to providing countless hours of compassionate care for the sick and elderly to family members, and to members of the community previously unknown to herself: she is best remembered for giving herself completely in each role she took on. Barbara will be resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Pius X Parish. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
