Hachey, Sgt. Curtis James
Hachey, Sgt. Curtis James, C.D.: Sgt Hachey served nearly 20 years with the Canadian Forces primarily in CFB Shilo, Manitoba and CFB Gagetown, NB with his final posting at CFRC St. John’s. He also completed a peacekeeping tour of duty in Cyprus. Having successfully lived with cancer Curtis Hachey, age 39 years completed his last dreams and wishes on December 17, 2008 He is predeceased by his infant daughter, Rebecca. Fondly remembered by his best friend and loving wife, Corrina; his precious children: Melissa, Joshua and Emma; parents: Roger and Sharon Hachey and brother, Darren all residing in Quesnel, BC; mother and father-in-law, Don and Sharon Churchill; sisters-in-law: Lori Churchill and Danielle Churchill-Parsons (Jason) and many other relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home., 329 Freshwater Road with visitation on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will take place at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant cemetery, Field of Honor. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sgt. SMITH, Damien: passed away suddenly on his beloved motorcycle on Monday, September 7, 2009, Damien Smith, aged 29 years. Predeceased by his grandparents: Azariah and Daphne Smith and Roy Fost. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his fiancée Amy Flynn; parents Joan and Azariah Smith; sister Juanita (Boyd) Sharpe; brother Michael (Margaret Warren); special niece Annika Sharpe; Amy’s parents: Eileen and Stephen Flynn; her brothers: Stephen and Joey; Damien’s aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers, a large circle of friends, and his special companion his Labrador Retriever Izzy. Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Wednesday, September 9 and Thursday, September 10 from 2-5 p.m and 7-9:30 p.m. A service to celebrate Damien’s life will take place at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the SPCA.

Frank Smith Passed peacefully away at the Leonard A. Miller Centre on July 28, 2009, Frank Smith, age 65 years. Predeceased by his parents Wallace and Ethel Smith, brothers Wallace & Gilbert. Leaving to mourn his wife of 43 years, Delores; daughter Susan; grandson Frankie; brother Hugh (Donna) and family; sisters: Ruby Barry and family, Joan Collins and family, Alice Null and family, Ethel Smith and family, Mona Stephens and family, Dorothy Stansbury and family; sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Evans and Jean Rose; nephew Gil Smith (Wendy) and a large circle of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. BAIER (Rosalind Dianne) nee: Clarke – of Conception Bay South, Newfoundland, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2009, at the L.A. Miller Center in St. John’s after her brave battle with ovarian cancer. Rosalind is resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 1045 Topsail Road, Mount Pearl (Next to the Seventh-day Adventist Church Offices). Viewing times will be Tuesday, July 28 and Wednesday, July 29 from 2pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm. Her funeral service will be held this Thursday, July 30, 2:30pm at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Upper Gullies, Conception Bay South followed by internment at the Seventh-day Adventist Hillcrest cemetery, Daniels Road, Seal Cove. She is survived by her husband Jack, daughter Sonia, son Glenn, mother, Sadie, brothers, Joseph Jr. (Karin), Eric (Sharon), David (Marie), sisters, Lillian (Thomas), Judy (Elijah), family and friends. Melvin, Mary Ellen (Mae) – Passed peacefully away at Hennessey’s Guest Home on Thursday, July 16, 2009, Mary Ellen (Mae) Melvin in her 99th year. Predeceased by husband: Alexander Melvin and son: Captain Michael Melvin. Leaving to mourn are sons: Dr. Kevin Melvin (Marilyn) and Captain Edward Melvin (Betty); daughter: Eileen Hawkin (David); daughter-in-law: Katherine Melvin; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; sister: Kate Lewis. Heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Hennessey and her staff at Hennessey’s Guest Home for their loving care during her long stay and especially for their compassion and kindness during her final illness. Edstrom, Dr Harry: March 4, 1942-July 7, 2009. Clinical Chief of Medicine at Eastern Health; Past President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association; Past Governor of the American College of Physicians; Past Executive of the Canadian Medical Association and Recipient of the 2002 Queen’s Jubilee Medal. Most importantly, beloved husband of 45 years to Grace; father of Dr. Karen Edstrom (Dr. Ron Lemckert) and Dr. John Edstrom (Cathy); grandfather to Ethan Harry and Avery Grace Edstrom as well as Diana Joy Lemckert; brother to Marjorie Ewers (Frank), Colette Barrett, Bob Edstrom and Judy Edstrom. Also leaving to mourn special friends Peter & Deirdre Gardner and family as well as special aunt Margaret Kearney. Predeceased by his parents, Mary & William Edstrom and his mother-in-law Victoria Reeves. Survived by daughter, Elizabeth (Kevin) Kane; grandchildren: Frank (Karen) Stevens; Janet (Daryl) Gates and Andrew (Evelyn) Kane; great-grandchildren: Matthew, Brittany and Laura Stevens; Nathan and Naomi Gates.
