Hart, Ellen Frances (nee McGrath)

HART, Ellen Frances (nee McGrath): Passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness on November 14, 2010 at Hoyle’s Home, Ellen Hart, age 89 years. Predeceased by her first husband, John O’Dell and second husband, Richard Hart. Left with fond and loving memories her daughters, Georgina Pridham (Ignatius), Anna Kelloway (Greg); sons: Edward (Barbara), William (Carolann) and Robert; fourteen grandchildren; twenty four great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Carol, Margie, Tracey and Geraldine for your support and the staff of 2 West of the Hoyles Home. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road with visitation on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2-4 7 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.

Rodway, Anthony ( Tony ) F. Passed away suddenly at his residence on November 13th, 2010 Tony Rodway aged 57 years.Long time employee of The Royal Garage.Left with fond and loving memories his wife of 33 years Sydney, daughter Ashley and son Bradley, parents Harold and Violet Rodway, brother Gary ( Bernice ), sister Kathy Rodway (Tom), sister-in-law Sarah Dewling (Clarence), many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home 329 Freshwater Road with visitation on Sunday and Monday from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm.Funeral service will take place on Tuesday November 16th, 2010 at 11:00am from The Anglican Cathedral., Interment to follow at The Anglican Cemetery Kenmount Road.In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Anglican Cathedral or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Wheeler, Clarence ( Bud ) Passed away peacefully on November 12th, 2010at The Health Sciences Centre surrounded by his loving family Bud Wheeler aged 81 years.Predeceased by his parents Ethel and Charles, son Clarence, grandson Jeffrey, brothers Vic, Heber and James and sisters Cynthia, Lillian, Helen and Pearl ( Tootsie ).Leaving to mourn his devoted and loving daughter Cynthia( Frank ), three wonderful sons, Cyril ( Bernice ), Perry and Doug, six cherished grandchildren, Tina (Tony) Todd, Cherie (Shane), David, Abigail and Sheldon, two beautiful great grandchildren Kylie and Blake., his only surviving sibling Florence as well as a large circle of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.The family wish to extend a special mention to Mary Evans, a wonderful caregiver and friend.Visitation to take place from Carnell’s Funeral Home 329 Freshwater Road on Sunday and Monday November 14th and 15th from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm.Funeral service to take place from The Anglican Cathedral Of St. John The Baptist on Tuesday November 16th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at The Anglican Cemetery Forest Road.Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Bud’s memory may be made to World Vision( www.worldvision.ca/gifs. “When a flower grows wild, it can always survive, wild flowers don’t care where they grow”

Crane, Gordon Robert – Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy hospital on November 11th, 2010 Gordon Crane aged 84 years. Predeceased by brother, Edgar. Leaving to mourn brothers: Harold (Millie) and Cyril (Barb); sister Florence (Jerry Call); sister-in-law Sandra Crane; as well as a large circle of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Monday November 15th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

POWER, Rhonda L. (Crotts): Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family at the L.A. Miller Centre on November 9, 2010, Rhonda L. Power, aged 48 years. Predeceased by her parents: Howard Crotts (1993) and Mary (Tucker) 2007; brother, Howard Jr. (2008) and sister, Linda Evans (2010). Left to mourn her loving husband, John; children: Danielle, Melissa (Chris) and Janelle (Johnny); grandchildren: Tyson, Tatianna and soon to arrive Number 3; stepchildren: Darryl (Barb), Ashleigh (Mike), Jonathan (Cassie), Stephen (Rachel); step-grandchildren: Mykayla and Kody; sisters: Sandra (George Dawe) Toronto, ON; Gail (Kevin Ryan) Port Dover, ON; Dorothy (Dave Peckham) Chilliwack, BC; brother, Justin (St. John’s); father- in law: Vince; brothers-in-law; Mike (Judy), Kevin, Vince (Brenda), Barry (Donna) and Dean Evans, St. John’s; sisters-in-law: Marilyn (Cyril), Madeline (Derrick), Nellie (Joey) and Veronica Crotts, Toronto, ON, as well as a large circle of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Peacefully passed away at home on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 at Tiffany Village, St. John’s. Marion Rowe aged 91 years. Predeceased by husband George, son David, sisters Irene and Mary. Leaving to mourn her children: Donald and Peter, her sister: Rita, grandchildren: Peter and Michelle; great-granddaughter Lynden; brother-in-law Donald Barter, nieces and nephews; Barb, Harold, Linda, Donna in St. John’s, as well as many other relatives and friends. There will be no visitation. At Marion’s request, cremation has taken place. Funeral service will take place from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. No flowers by request. Donations in Marion’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Martin, Chesley David (Dave)

MARTIN, Chesley DAVID (Dave) FEC, P.Eng. : Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, surrounded by his loving family, on Nov. 8, 2010, following a six-year battle with prostate cancer, Dave Martin, age 61. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories, his wife of 38 years, Karen (nee Colbourne), sons, Jonathan C., Vancouver, BC, Ian J. (Robyn Appleton), Squamish, BC. and daughter, Bethan J.Pretty (Jason), St. John’s, NL. Also, sisters; Eva Vivian (Fred), Betty Parsons (Abbie), St.John’s, NL, Joan Strang and Anne Little (Gray), Dartmouth, NS., brother Wayne (Marilyn), Corner Brook, NL; sisters-in-law, Wendy MacWhirter, Calgary, AB, Diane Royle(Bob), Halifax, NS., Roma Herder (Dan), St. John’s, NL., and many cousins, nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends and associates, including his fraternity brothers of ESN. Dave was predeceased by this parents Ches and Elizabeth Martin, parents-in law, Fred and Jean Colbourne, brothers-in-law, Barry Strang and David MacWhirter, and “best bud” and running partner, Bob. Dave graduated from Bishops College in 1967 and Memorial University in 1974 with a degree in Civil Engineering, beginning a long and rewarding career culminating in his position as Vice President of Marco Services Ltd. Tirelessly active in the greater engineering and construction community of Newfoundland and Labrador before retiring in early 2010, he will be missed by the countless people in his career with whom he had forged lasting relationships; professional, personal and often both. Described as an “incomparably lovely man”, Dave was a devoted husband and father who loved life and lived it to the fullest with the many people with whom he surrounded himself. Making friends came easily, from many diverse and loving circles, including, but certainly not limited to the infamous ‘Club Crowd’. Please know that he loved and appreciated you all dearly. He traveled the island extensively, had a passion for the place he called home and knowledge of all things Newfoundland that was without compare. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Cancer Clinic at the HSC, especially Drs. Jonathan Greenland and Joy McCarthy and nurse Suzan Power who kept us laughing through difficult times. Also, our dear friend Dr. Maureen Dunne for her unfailing care and devotion. Resting at the Carnell Memorial Chapel, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation to take place on Wednesday, November 10, from 7-9p.m., Thursday, November 11, from 2-4p.m., and 7-9pm. Funeral to take place from St Thomas’ Anglican Church, Military Road at 2:00pm, Friday, November 12. Inurnment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery Columbarium, Forest Road. Donations in Dave’s memory may be made to the Dr. H Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.

Tucker, Barbara Cynthia (nee Evans)

Passed away suddenly in the presence of her loving family on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010 at the Health Sciences Centre, Barbara Cynthia Tucker, aged 75 years. Left with fond and loving memories, her loving husband of 55 years, Stephen; her children, Rick (Jean), Steve (Judy), Betty Fitzpatrick (Tom) and Sandy Bishop (Earl); seven grandchildren: Michelle Arsenault (Derek), Tara Morgan (Wes), Karen (Andrew Culver), Kelly Tucker, Karla Chapman (Jamie), Christopher Neal and Amanda Tucker; four great-grandchildren: Carly Shea Arsenault, Brooke Chapman, Colby Morgan and Brandon Morgan; one brother in Halifax; one sister in Boise, Idaho; a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; longtime childhood friends: Susie and Joe LeGrow, Ethel and Gerald Comerford; a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and a very special puppy “Cindy.” Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd. on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 at 2 p.m. from the Carnell Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow in the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. Flowers gratefully accepted.

Passed peacefully away on Friday, Nov. 05, 2010 at St. Clare’s Hospital, Edward Hynes, aged 71 years. Former CN Road Cruiser Driver. Predeceased by his parents, William and Annie Hynes; son, M.S. William (Bill); brother, James; brother-in-law, Cluney White; grandson, Bradley. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 51 years, Elsie (nee White); daughter, Wanda Whalen (Greg); daughter-in-law, Debi Hynes (fiancé Rick); five grandchildren: Dwayne (Maria), Charles (Amie) and Michael Hynes, Adam and Ashley Whalen; two great-grandchildren: Jaxon Martin and Jaicee Hynes; uncle, Tom Hynes (Joyce); sisters-in-law: June White, Mary Hynes, Ruby Starkes (Fred), Janie Parsons (Eric), Sandra White; brother-in-law, George White (Wanda); special cousin, Gerry Maddigan (Fay); also a large number of other relative sand friends. Cremation has taken place at Edward’s request. Family will be receiving visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Sunday, November 7, 2010 from 2-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. from the Carnell Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow in the Salvation Army Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed’s memory may be made to a charity of one choice.
