HART, Ellen Frances (nee McGrath): Passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness on November 14, 2010 at Hoyle’s Home, Ellen Hart, age 89 years. Predeceased by her first husband, John O’Dell and second husband, Richard Hart. Left with fond and loving memories her daughters, Georgina Pridham (Ignatius), Anna Kelloway (Greg); sons: Edward (Barbara), William (Carolann) and Robert; fourteen grandchildren; twenty four great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Peacefully passed away at home on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 at Tiffany Village, St. John’s. Marion Rowe aged 91 years. Predeceased by husband George, son David, sisters Irene and Mary. Leaving to mourn her children: Donald and Peter, her sister: Rita, grandchildren: Peter and Michelle; great-granddaughter Lynden; brother-in-law Donald Barter, nieces and nephews; Barb, Harold, Linda, Donna in St. John’s, as well as many other relatives and friends. There will be no visitation. At Marion’s request, cremation has taken place. MARTIN, Chesley DAVID (Dave) FEC, P.Eng. : Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, surrounded by his loving family, on Nov. 8, 2010, following a six-year battle with prostate cancer, Dave Martin, age 61. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories, his wife of 38 years, Karen (nee Colbourne), sons, Jonathan C., Vancouver, BC, Ian J. (Robyn Appleton), Squamish, BC. and daughter, Bethan J.Pretty (Jason), St. John’s, NL. Also, sisters; Eva Vivian (Fred), Betty Parsons (Abbie), St.John’s, NL, Joan Strang and Anne Little (Gray), Dartmouth, NS., brother Wayne (Marilyn), Corner Brook, NL; sisters-in-law, Wendy MacWhirter, Calgary, AB, Diane Royle(Bob), Halifax, NS., Roma Herder (Dan), St. John’s, NL., and many cousins, nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends and associates, including his fraternity brothers of ESN. Dave was predeceased by this parents Ches and Elizabeth Martin, parents-in law, Fred and Jean Colbourne, brothers-in-law, Barry Strang and David MacWhirter, and “best bud” and running partner, Bob. Dave graduated from Bishops College in 1967 and Memorial University in 1974 with a degree in Civil Engineering, beginning a long and rewarding career culminating in his position as Vice President of Marco Services Ltd. Tirelessly active in the greater engineering and construction community of Newfoundland and Labrador before retiring in early 2010, he will be missed by the countless people in his career with whom he had forged lasting relationships; professional, personal and often both. Described as an “incomparably lovely man”, Dave was a devoted husband and father who loved life and lived it to the fullest with the many people with whom he surrounded himself. Making friends came easily, from many diverse and loving circles, including, but certainly not limited to the infamous ‘Club Crowd’. Please know that he loved and appreciated you all dearly. He traveled the island extensively, had a passion for the place he called home and knowledge of all things Newfoundland that was without compare. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Cancer Clinic at the HSC, especially Drs. Jonathan Greenland and Joy McCarthy and nurse Suzan Power who kept us laughing through difficult times. Also, our dear friend Dr. Maureen Dunne for her unfailing care and devotion. Passed away suddenly in the presence of her loving family on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010 at the Health Sciences Centre, Barbara Cynthia Tucker, aged 75 years. Left with fond and loving memories, her loving husband of 55 years, Stephen; her children, Rick (Jean), Steve (Judy), Betty Fitzpatrick (Tom) and Sandy Bishop (Earl); seven grandchildren: Michelle Arsenault (Derek), Tara Morgan (Wes), Karen (Andrew Culver), Kelly Tucker, Karla Chapman (Jamie), Christopher Neal and Amanda Tucker; four great-grandchildren: Carly Shea Arsenault, Brooke Chapman, Colby Morgan and Brandon Morgan; one brother in Halifax; one sister in Boise, Idaho; a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; longtime childhood friends: Susie and Joe LeGrow, Ethel and Gerald Comerford; a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and a very special puppy “Cindy.” Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd. on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 at 2 p.m. from the Carnell Memorial Chapel. William (Bill); brother, James; brother-in-law, Cluney White; grandson, Bradley. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 51 years, Elsie (nee White); daughter, Wanda Whalen (Greg); daughter-in-law, Debi Hynes (fiancé Rick); five grandchildren: Dwayne (Maria), Charles (Amie) and Michael Hynes, Adam and Ashley Whalen; two great-grandchildren: Jaxon Martin and Jaicee Hynes; uncle, Tom Hynes (Joyce); sisters-in-law: June White, Mary Hynes, Ruby Starkes (Fred), Janie Parsons (Eric), Sandra White; brother-in-law, George White (Wanda); special cousin, Gerry Maddigan (Fay); also a large number of other relative sand friends.
