Winsor, William "Barry"

WINSOR, William “Barry”: Passed away on June 29, 2011 at the Health Sciences Centre. Barry was born October 22, 1964 to William (Bill) and Daphne (Sheppard) Winsor of St. John’s, NL. He was the eldest of three children: sister, Jill O’Neill (Shane, nieces Megan and Paige), brother, Ian. Barry was a very care-free and light hearted man. In 1992 he married his best friend, Karen O’Keefe. Together with their two beautiful children, Haley (10) and Wm. Grant (7) they made memories that will forever be shared and cherished. Barry took great joy in the time he spent with his family, whether it was the simple day to day pleasures of being a husband and father or the fun filled days they shared camping at the park. Also left to celebrate his life with fond and loving memories are Karen’s family: her parents: Philip and Agnes O’Keefe; brothers: Glenn (Maureen), Dennis (Claire), Gary (Anne), Philip (Carol), Paul (Marie); sister: Sandra Adams (Vandy) and their families that held a very special place in Barry’s heart as well as many special relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road with visitation on Friday and Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. For those who wish to attend the celebration of Barry’s life with friends and family, the service will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Portugal Cove. A private interment will take place at a later date. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Thompson, Barbara

THOMPSON, Barbara E. (nee French): Passed peacefully away on June 25, 2011, Barbara Thompson, aged 93 years. Predeceased by her husband, Wallace; son, Eric; and granddaughter, Tara. Left with fond and loving memories her son, Lorne (Beverley); daughter: Sherrill Pitcher (Ralph), Karen Hillier (Len), Beverly Noseworthy (Keith); grandchildren: Michelle Chippett (Jamie), Marcel Pitcher (Paula), Angela Griffin, Robert Thompson, Chris Hillier (Natalie), Coralee Hillier (Jonnie Delaney), Tracy Noseworthy (Andrew Mayo); great-grandchildren: Ehvan and Haeden Griffin, and Sophie Chippett; special niece, Marilyn Thompson; as well as a large circle of family and friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, Sunday 7-9 p.m. and Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Salvation Army Citadel, Adams Avenue, Tuesday June 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow in the Salvation Army Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Bartlett, Jessie Kathleen

BARTLETT, Jessie Kathleen (nee Cook) - At the age of 96, Jessie Kathleen (nee Cook) Bartlett passed peacefully away at St. Luke’s Home on June 25, 2011. She has gone to be with her Lord and Saviour in heaven, her new home. She has left behind loving family and friends, son, Keith (Glenda), Topsail, NL; son, Blake (Catherine); grandchildren: Ruth and John, all of Salisbury, NB; brother, Paul Cook (Martha); sister-in-law, Margeurite Giannou (Ted, deceased); niece, Karen Giannou (Ted Laurentius) ; and newphew, Bruce Giannou (Jackie); and large circle of family and friends. A memorial service will take place on Sunday August 21, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. from the West End Baptist Church, 314 Topsail Road, St. John’s (east of The Village). Donations in her may be made to West End Baptist Church, 314 Topsail Road, NL, A1E 2B5, where Jessie was an honorary Deacon, St. Luke’s Home, who so lovingly cared for her or to the charity of one’s choice.

Williams, Enid

WILLIAMS, Enid Vesta 1913-2011: Passed away after a short illness, Enid Vesta Williams, aged 98 years. Enid was a kind and gracious lady who was a former teacher in several communities around Newfoundland in the 1930’s and 1940’s. She continued her career in St. John’s as a music teacher where she loved teaching piano to many beloved students from her home, until her retirement at the age of 89. Left with many wonderful memories are her loving husband Roy; son, Dr. Robert (Grace) and daughter, Elizabeth Smith. “Nanny” will be sadly missed by her grandchildren: Dr. Brett, Nicky, Peter (Megan), Dr. Jennifer (Chris) Williams; Norman (Lahia) Levesque, Dianne (John) Desroisiers, as well as her five great grandchildren: Abby and Molly Williams; Maddie Levesque; Ingrid and Annika Desroisiers, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family extends a sincere thank you to the staff of 4 South B at the Health Sciences Centre and a special thank you to Dr. Roger Butler for all his care and attention over the years and for his tremendous support during her recent illness. Visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, June 26, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Trickett, William

TRICKETT, William Henry Baxter: Passed peacefully away on Friday, June 24, 2011 at the Health Sciences Centre, William Trickett, aged 81 years. Member of the Masonic Order and retired employee of Newfoundland Light and Power. Predeceased by his parents: Joseph and Patience Trickett; brothers: David and Calvin; sister, Phyllis Taylor. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 55 years, Shirley (nee Littlejohn); two sons: Eugene (Eva) and David (Karen); five grandchildren: Erica, Stephen, Heidi, James and William Andrew; two sisters: Audrey Ivimey (Bram) Kingston, ON and Ruth Hiscock (Boyd) Ottawa, ON; three sisters-in-law: Marie Trickett, Alma Trickett and Viola Littlejohn; brothers-in-law: Max (Rebecca) Littlejohn and George King; as well as a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. from the Carnell Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in William’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Lung Association.

Pynn, Regina Imelda

Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving sister Sharon at the Health Sciences Complex on July 3, 2011; after a short but courageous battle with Cancer. Regina Imelda Pynn aged 45years. Predeceased by her parents John and Veronica Pynn, her two brothers Donald and Kevin and one brother in law Don Moyst Leaving with precious memories her sister Sharon, two nephews DJ (Tiffany) and Adam (Wendy), two very special friends Yvonne Burton and Patrick Collier. Also leaving with fond and loving memories a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd on Monday July 4, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Regina’s life will take place at Mary Queen of Peace Church on Tuesday July 5, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Regina’s memory may be made to Dr. H. Bliss Murphy.

Fitzgerald, Maureen Anne (nee Coleman)

(September 9, 1946 - July 12, 2011). Maureen’s final farewell was spent surrounded by family and friends whom she had touched in many ways throughout her memorable life. Maureen’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Maureen is survived by her loving husband Mike; precious son Scott and Pamela (Jones); treasured grandchildren: Sophie, Julia and Nathan. Her grandchildren brought joy and laughter to her life in immeasurable amounts, a special gift which she returned in abundance; brother Mike Coleman (Irene) and their children: Tracy and Michelle; sister Angie Gibbons (Sandy) and their children: Tim and Sarah; sister-in-law Joan Ebsary (Bob) and their son Danny. Also leaving to mourn uncles Ronald, Pat, Tom and Jerry Coleman; aunts Rose Beer and Mary Abbott. Predeceased by her son Danny (1996) whom she loved selflessly for 21 years, parents John and Angela Coleman; parents-in-law Monica (Fitzgerald) and John King; as well as many other close relatives and friends. Maureen had a large circle of family and friends who individually all knew the special place they held in her heart. A lover of nature including gardening, the East Coast Trail and many outdoor activities; hiking, skiing, biking, snow shoeing and golfing. Close and dear were her golf, bridge and book club friends as well the Mercy Girls. Maureen especially loved music and the arts. A beautiful woman with a kind and generous heart and a love for life which far exceeded her time. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Wednesday and Thursday, July 13th and 14th, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will take place from Mary Queen of Peace Church, Torbay Road on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Maureen’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Hapgood, Allison Margaret)

HAPGOOD, Allison Margaret: Passed peacefully away on July 10, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at home, Allison Margaret Hapgood, aged 12 years. Predeceased by grandmother Kathleen Hayes (Druken) and grandfather, James Hapgood. Celebrating her life is her Mom and Dad, Tina Hayes and John Hapgood and her big brother Joshua; grandfather, John Hayes and grandmother, Doris Hapgood (Ed Barrington); uncles: Gary (Lisa), John (Paula), Jim (Denise), Craig (Juanita), Will (Dana) as well as a large circle of cousins and other relatives and friends. Allison soared through life like the beautiful butterflies she loved so dearly. Allison will be resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 1045 Topsail Road, Mount Pearl on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place from Holy Family Parish on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will follow. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Allison’s memory may be made to the Candlelighters Association or the Children’s Wish Foundation.
