Hunt, Jack Donald

Passed peacefully away at his residence, Tiffany Village on January 30, 2012. Jack Donald Hunt in his 91st year. Predeceased by his wife Irene in September 2010 along with his son in law Edgar Crane. Leaving to mourn with Cherished memories his five children, Sandra Crane, Linda (Edward) Sharpe, Derek, Geoff (Rose) Hunt and Sherri (Bob) Slade. Ten grand children whom he adored: Kerri, Lisa, Susan, Chris, Tim, Lyndsey, Jonathan, David, Nicholas and Matthew. Also leaving six great grand children whom he loved dearly. Leaving with fond memories one Sister; Mona Behr as well as large circle of other relatives and friends. A special thank you and much gratitude to Tiffany Village for their wonderful care. A Funeral service will take place at a later date.

Dawe, Dennis W.

DAWE, Dennis Warren – Passed away suddenly on January 31, 2012. Dennis Warren Dawe of Seal Cove, C.B.S, aged 57 years. Predeceased by his brother, Barry. Leaving to mourn, his wife, Colleen (nee Dodd); son, Barry (Amanda Halleran); daughter, Brittney (Albert Anthony); grandson, A.J.; parents, Warren and Emily Dawe; brothers: Carl (Dora), Wayne; sisters: Maureda (Chuck Penney), Marilyn (Clayton Warford), Darlene (Dwight Rowe), Pauline (Gary Bradley); special family friend, Jim Griffths; brothers-in-law: David Dodd (Betty), Terry Dodd (Ruth Anne); sister-in-law, Sharon Skanes (Wilfred); as well as many nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends. Cremation has already has taken place. A donation may be made in Dennis’ memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Butler, Lela Eileen

BUTLER, Lela Eileen: Passed peacefully away at the Miller Centre on February 2, 2012, Lela Eileen Butler, in her 53rd year. Survived by a loving Mom, Mary, her Aunt Emmie as well as two sons: Kurtis, Alberta and Kevin (Jill), St. John’s; four brothers: Eric (Bette), Bill (Marjorie), Mt. Pearl, Roger and Charles, St. John’s. Also leaving to mourn best friends, Brenda and Carol, other friends and relatives. Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends may visit the family at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Sunday, February 5 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Ivany, Peter Gladstone

IVANY, Peter Gladstone: Passed away at his residence on February 2, 2012 surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer, Peter Ivany, aged 81 years. Predeceased by his only sister Ena Colwell. Left to celebrate his life his wife of 55 years, Sheila; his children: John (Alice), Linda, Janet (John Brown), Elizabeth, Peter (Donna); his cherished grandchildren: Jennifer, Kilah, Sonya, Justin and Andrew. Also leaving to mourn a large circle of relatives and friends, especially his long time friends and neighbors, Ben and Maude Lake and their families. Peter was first and foremost a great husband, father, grandfather and devoted parishioner to St. Michael’s and All Angels Anglican Church. Peter had a lifelong commitment and involvement in union activities. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Saturday, February 4 and Sunday, February 5 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to take place from St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. In lieu of flowers donations in Peter's memory may be made to St. Michael’s and All Angels Building Fund or a charity of one’s choice.

Brown, Daniel Douglas

BROWN, Daniel Douglas - Passed away after a short courageous battle at the Halifax Infirmary CVICU on Thursday, February 2, 2012, Daniel Douglas Brown at the age of 27 years. Pre-deceased by his dad, Reginald Brown, QC. Leaving to mourn the love of his life and best friend his wife Nicole; sweet baby boy, Benjamin Daniel Reginald Brown; his mother, Pamela Brown; sister Johanna Brown; mother and father-in-law Maud & Carl Crowley., brother-in-law Adam (Tara) Crowley and special niece Abigail; Aunts and Uncles; Gillian Brown; Catherine (Frank) McGrath; Rosalie Earles; Janice (late Bill) English; Carolyn (Doug) Churchill; Tommy (Susan) Earles; Joe (Valerie) Earles and Donnie(Laurie) Earles; a large number of cousins of the Earles family as well as a large number of phenomenal and devoted friends. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive relatives and friends at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Monday, February 06, 2012 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday February 7, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Thomas Anglican Church, King's Bridge Road with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in memory of Daniel to the Nursing Unit 5.1 (CVICU), Halifax Infirmary c/o QEII Foundation, Halifax, NS, B3H 2Y9. Daniel was a strong, caring and thoughtful young man who valued family and friends above everything else. While he was only a dad for three short months, he was amazing in everything he did for Benjamin. He had a tremendous sense of humour, was quick witted and an absolute joy to be with. He will be missed more than words can ever say.

Barron, James A.

BARRON, James A. : Passed peacefully away in St. John's on February 3, 2012, James A. Barron in his 76th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Florence. The best dad in the world will be sadly missed by his 5 children: Lynne (Scott Porter), Thomas, Betti Anne (Rick Giammarino), Lana (Robert Nielsen), and Todd (April). Papa Barron was dearly loved by 13 grandchildren: Gavin and Garrett Hunt, and Kyle Porter; Wynona and Emma Barron; Alyssa, Rebecca, and Katie Giammarino; Kyrsten, Aaron, and Devin Nielsen; Jadyn and Evan Barron; and 2 great grandchildren. Jim was predeceased by his parents Mary & Michael Barron of Holyrood. He is survived by his brother Lawrence Barron (Josephine) and sister Theresa (Bill Janes). Jim served in the Royal Canadian Navy (13885-H) and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 1. He was also a member of The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Veterans Association and Knights of Columbus. He raised his family in Wabush, Labrador. Jim will be greatly missed by many relatives and friends especially Eric and Moriah Young, Ray and Ruth Canning, and Fred Ingerman. He enjoyed a long career at Wabush Mines retiring in 1991 as General Forman of the Mine Department. Jim held great respect for the men who worked in his department. He was a proud volunteer of the Wabush Fire Department serving as Fire Chief for many years. He had a passion for fishing with his many friends enjoying laughs and fish stories as they fished the lakes of Labrador. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road with visitation on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place on Monday, February 6, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. from St. Teresa's Church, Mundy Pond Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to the Alzheimer’s Society of NL or to a charity of choice.

Wilkins, Nettie (Jaunita Marguerite) Nee Mouland

Wilkins, Nettie (Jaunita Marguerita) Nee: Mouland: Passed peacefully away on February 3rd, 2012 surrounded by her loving family Nettie Wilkins aged 89 years. Predeceased by her husband Clarence and daughter Shirley Garland, brothers: Reginald (Morag, both of Scotland), Douglas (California) and Horace (Mary, both of St. John’s), sisters: Mollie Groven (Ernie, both of Seattle) and Emmie Abbott (Fred, both of Musgrave Harbour) as well as brother-in-law Leonard and Blanche Wilkins and lifelong friends Ned and Sarah Royal. Left to celebrate Netties life are her children Nell ( Raymond Hart), Linda (Edward Murray) and Bruce (Michelle), son-in-law Melvin Garland and her brother William Mouland (Winnie) of Lewisporte, her cherished grandchildren Rhonda Maher(Michael), Rayleen Hogan (Tom), Scott Garland (Nicole), Craig Garland (Charlene), Amanda and Laura Wilkins and Chris Murray. Nettie also leaves to mourn 6 precious great grand children: Jordan, Jared, Jesse, Aoife, Charlie, and Maddie, along with her sister in law Dora Mouland as well as a large circle of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Meadow Creek Retirement Center for the care and kindness shown to Nettie during her stay there. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home 329 Freshwater Road on Sunday and Monday February 5th, and 6th, 2012 from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Funeral service will take place from The Carnell Memorial Chapel on Tuesday February 7th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at The Salvation Army Cemetery Blackmarsh Road.
