CHALKER, James Richard, Q.C. - Passed away on February 6, 2012, James Richard Chalker Q.C. Predeceased by his wife, Barbara in February 2008. Leaving to mourn his daughter, Susan (Dennis Browne), sons: John (Beverley Douglas) and Michael (Kathie Billard); and grandchildren: Maria and Andrea Chalker, and Paul, Michael, David and Maria Browne. Also leaving to mourn special cousins: Grant Chalker (Jan), Jack Hiscock (Libby), Jim Hiscock and Ted Hiscock, as well as sisters-in-law: Mary Tucker, Katherine Devine, Mercedes McCarthy, Teresita Williams, Isabelle Goodridge and Betty Galway. Jim was senior partner in the St. John's law firm Chalker, Green and Rowe and former Chair of the Board of Newfoundland Hydro. He was also recipient of the Distinguished Service Award by the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John's on Wednesday, February 8 from 2:00 - 4:30 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Funeral service from St. Thomas Anglican Church, Military Road on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined. WILLIAMS, Doris B. (nee Sullivan): Passed away peacefully at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on February 6, 2012, Doris Williams, age 92 years. Predeceased by her loving husband, Harris (1986); infant daughter, Cynthia; parents: Herbert and Jessie Sullivan; brothers: Cyril, Harry and Boyd; sons-in-law: Jerome Jordon and Jerry Pitre and Diane’s companion Dick Manning. Leaving to mourn with cherished memories daughters: Shirley Pitre and Diane McGrath; brother, Rex; sisters: Bernice Sullivan (Clarence) and Lois Noseworthy (Charl); grandchildren: Bob Jordon, Karen Sheikh (Eric) and Catherine Jordon (Bruce), Melanie Wong (Hanford), Jason McGrath (Erin), Joanne King and Jane McGrath (André); five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Effie and Norma Sullivan and Vira Williams; brother-in-law, Henry Williams and many other relatives and friends especially those at the Kinsman Manor and North Pond Personal Care Home. KEATS, Baxter: Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre February 6, 2012. Baxter Keats, aged 69 years. Left with fond memories, his loving children: Sheila Keats (Kent Osmond) and Robert Keats (Carolyn); grandson, Aiden; brother, Clifford Keats (Robyn); sisters: Marie Tavenor (Gord), Geraldine Blackmore (Lance) and Nellie Buis (Ben); as well as many other relatives and a large circle of friends. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to June Tavenor-Blake, the staff of 5 South A and many supportive neighbours for all their kindness. A memorial service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel, 329 Freshwater Road, on Wednesday February 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.

BANFIELD, Glenn Stephen: Passed peacefully away on February 7, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer, Glenn Stephen Banfield, at the age of 44 years. Leaving to mourn with cherished memories his best friend and partner, Susy Hollett; his parents: Donald and Georgina and sister, Krista; Susy’s family including her parents, Phil and Ada Hollett and brother, Chris (Teri) and Andrew (Kerry). Also leaving to mourn special friend and cousin, Tom Mugford and a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Cremation has taken place. PENNEY, H. Clifford - B.Sc., B. Ed., M. Ed. Born 1930 in Boston, died February 8, 2012 in St. John’s. Leaving to conjure about his curmudgeonliness, his sometimes politically incorrectness and his frugality, are his wife Linda Clarke, former wife Joan Penney, his daughter Kathy Penney (Chris Pike), Calgary, grandchildren Andrew, Benjamin and Zachary Pike, Calgary, brothers Fred (Ethel), Boston, Raymond (Phyllis), Grand Falls-Windsor and sister Melba Pike (Leonard), Eastport. Also left behind are his three canine friends Roger, Clarkie and Lindsay. Predeceased by his parents Susannah (Parsons) and Frederick Penney. The family will receive relatives and friends at Carnell’s Funeral Home, St. John’s on Sunday, February 12 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and at Noel’s Funeral Home, Carbonear on Monday, February 13 from 1-3 p.m. Inurnment to be held in his parents’ plot in the United Church Cemetery, Freshwater, Carbonear. No flowers by request; donations in his memory may be made to the Newfoundland and Labrador Lung Association.
Foley, Anthony Joseph (Tony)
Anthony (Tony) Foley, aged 67 years, passed peacefully away surrounded by his best friend and loving wife of 40 years also his adoring children. Pre-deceased by his parents, Philomena and Clarence Foley, and his sister Irene. He leaves a lifetime of precious memories to his wife, Frances, and three daughters; Jacqueline, Mary-lou, Sarah, his son Nicholas, and grand-daughter Sola Quinn . Anthony Inspired them to forever see life’s positive side. He was the greatest teacher of life’s important lessons. He will meet us again and, until that time, hold us in the palm of his hands as we navigate our journeys. Leaving to mourn his twin sister, Leona, and three other loving sisters, Evelyn, Regina and Marie Ann. As well as a very large circle of supportive friends and relatives. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd on Thursday from 7-9 p.m., Friday February 10, 2012 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. His Funeral Service will take place at the Basilica on Saturday February 11, 2012 at 9:30 am. There will be a second funeral mass at St. Patrick’s Parish in Tilting, Fogo Island on Monday February 13 at 11:00 am. Anthony often referred to Tilting as the “Greatest Place on Earth” and donations in his memory can be made to Tilting Cemetery fund.

SNOW, Harold Rex Wilson – Passed away peacefully on February 10, 2012, Harold Snow - Hal to his family, Hank to his friends — age 61. Predeceased by his mother, Margaret Ellen (Marnie) and father, Douglas. Leaving to mourn his partner Julie, who gave unflagging support throughout his illness; his sister, Kathy (Neal Ludlow); nephew, Vance and niece, Bianca; his “girls”, Joy Drover and Rachel Blake and their children; step-mother, Grace Norman-Snow; his aunt, Vera Stokes and her family, along with his cousins in Ottawa, Saint John and Pointe des Chene, NB as well as a large circle of friends especially Gary Eason. A graveside service of committal will be held for the family at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. No flowers by request. In memoriam donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
