Strickland, George Passed suddenly away on April 27, 2012 George Strickland aged 81 years. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 57 years Florella (Rellie). Also leaving with precious memories his six children: Linda (Wayne), Diane (Clar), Lorne (Colleen), Dave (Patsy), Cindy (Dave), Tracy (Derek), eleven grandchildren and seven great grand children all who he loved dearly. Also leaving one brother Roy (Delores) as well as special brother in law Roland, along with a very large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd. on Monday April 30, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place at The Carnell Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. Cremation to follow. BISHOP - Daisy (Benson): Passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on April 30, 2012 from St. Luke's Home at the age of 92, Daisy (Benson) Bishop. Predeceased by her husband, Ben; father, Hayward; mother, Lily and sister, Florence Jeffery. Leaving to mourn, daughter, Ruth Benson (Rev. Gerald); son, Harold (Cheryl); grandchildren: Scott Benson (Sonya), Todd Benson (Angela), Gillian Harris (Stephen), Sean Walsh (Laurette); great-grandchildren: Zachary Benson, Christopher and Davan Benson, Rachel, Rebecca, Andrew, and Jonathan Harris, Darby and Ciaran Walsh; special friends, Reg and Mildred Bowering. CRITCH, David (Pooch): Passed peacefully away in his 72nd year after a difficult battle with cancer. Dave was a life-long fisherman at the Outer Battery. He was predeceased by his mother and father Evelyn and Samuel Critch and infant baby girl. Left to share his memory are his wife of 49 years, Jean; son, Bob and wife Jackie; daughter, Brenda and husband Warren; darling grandsons: Jack and Lucas; step-granddaughter, Jolene; sister, Shirley (Harvey) who tended him with loving care; brothers: Lloyd (Carrie), Glenn (Marion) and other family and friends.Special thanks to the staff of the Health Sciences Centre and the Miller Centre. Visitation will take place Tuesday, May 1st from 2-4 and 7-9 at Hickey's Funeral Home, Kelligrews and on Wednesday, May 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. FARRELL, Raymond M - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's NL on Monday April 30, 2012 at the age of 60. Predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Laura Farrell. Left with fond and loving memories are his siblings: Jean Ann (Clyde), Aloysius (Emily), and Glenn (Patricia); nieces and nephews: Jonathan, Rebecca, Daniel, Rhea, Thomas and Lauren and his little dog Rufus, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Visitation to take place from Carnell's Funeral Horne, 329 Freshwater Road on Wednesday, May 02, 2012 from 7-9pm. Visitation and Funeral Service will take place in St. Lawrence on Thursday and Friday. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Raymond's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.

DUNN, Joan Mary (nee Caul) - Passed peacefully away on May 1, 2012, surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness, Joan Mary Dunn, aged 65 years. Predeceased by her parents Patrick and Mary Sarah Caul and sister Brenda Caul. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her four children: Suzanne Dunn, Christopher Dunn (Lynn) of Ottawa, ON, Pamela Dunn (Mackenzie Mitchell) and Paul Dunn (Tracee Hoffman) of Vanderhoof, BC; their father Arthur Dunn; twelve precious grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sisters: Patricia Whittle and Margaret Caul; and brother Bernard Caul; as well as extended family and many friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from St. Teresa’s Parish, Mundy Pond Road, on Friday May 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. LANGOR, Frederick Scott - Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles-Escasoni Complex on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the age of 79 years. Fred was a loving and caring husband, father, grand-father and great grand-father. Predeceased by son Wayne. He has left many to celebrate his life with fond memories including, his loving wife of 53 years Emily; five children David (Suzanne), Randy (Fiona), Beverley (Ralph), Dianne (Cyril), and Michelle (Donald); fourteen grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and one great grandson; sister Delilah White; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Lillian Diamond, Patricia (Gilbert) Jennings, Ruth Rideout, David (Joyce) Rideout, and Lewis (Maisie) Rideout; nieces and nephews and a large number of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by husband Clyde, 1989; daughter Winnie, 1990 and sister Pearl Bradley, 2010. Leaving to mourn with loving memories daughter, Matilda Heath (Cyril), brother, Edward Best; grandsons: Craig Heath (Shelley), David Heath (Athene) Dartmouth, NS; granddaughters: Wynne-Anne Pomar (Lucian) New Brunswick and Janet Hughes (Jeff) Ontario; cherished great-grandchildren: Michelle and Brianna Heath; Nathaniel and Chelsea Pomar; Joshua and Jordan Heath; sisters-in-law: Gertrude Howell, St. John’s and Vida Howell, Halifax as well as her very special niece Freddy Gladney (Herb) Ontario; also other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Gardiner, Janet C, CM, B Comm, FCPA, FCA, LLD - Passed peacefully away at home on August 5, 2015. Elder daughter of Chester and Phyllis Dawe and predeceased by her husband Peter and brother William. Left with fond and loving memories, her daughters: Jane (Karol Mikulash), Susan (Brian Noseworthy); son, Steven; sister, Sonia Dawe Ryan; nephews: Andrew (Kelly Ryan) and Matthew; grandchildren: Peter and Simon Mikulash and Theo Noseworthy and a large circle of relatives and friends. One of Newfoundland and Labrador’s most respected business leaders, Janet was born in St. John’s in 1933, and earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Dalhousie University. She became this province’s first female Chartered Accountant in 1956. Throughout her career she received numerous accolades and commendations, including being made a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants in 1991 and receiving an Honorary Doctor of Laws in 1998 as well as the J. D. Eaton Award for Service in 2008 from Memorial University. She was appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada in 2009. Her expertise and business acumen benefited many corporations including the family company, Chester Dawe Limited. She also held directorships on the boards of Fishery Products International, the Canada/Newfoundland Offshore Petroleum Board, Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro and Mutual Life of Canada. Janet served on the Advisory Board of the Faculty of Business Administration and was the first woman to chair Memorial University’s Board of Regents from 1991-1997. She was a dedicated community volunteer as Treasurer of the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, Treasurer of the St. John’s Board of Trade, Chair of the St. Thomas’ Anglican Church Finance Committee and Chair of the Salvation Army Citizens Advisory Board. Most recently, she served on the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Newfoundland & Labrador, the Rhodes Scholarship Selection Committee, and was the Honorary Patron of the Tuckamore Festival. Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends may visit the family at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from the Anglican Cathedral.
