Wells, Jean
Passed peacefully away on Saturday May 14, 2016 at Kenny’s Pond Retirement Home; aged 90 years. Predeceased by her parents James and Julia Case, and her loving husband Gordon. Leaving to mourn her five sons: David (Joan), Jim (Vicki), Peter (Iva), John (Marie) Mark (Valerie) as well as three daughters: Barbara (Lloyd Dicks), Heather (Jamie Nuotio) and Julia (Paul Kenny); along with fifteen grand children and fourteen great grand children. Also leaving a large circle of extended family and friends. The family would like to extend their gratitude, to the Staff of Kenny’s Pond Retirement Community for their compassion and care during the final chapters of her life. Cremation has taken place. Visitation at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Tuesday from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Funeral service to take place on May 18, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. from Carnell’s Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Food Bank.
White, Minnie
Passed peacefully away at Chancellor Park on April 5, 2016, Minnie White in her 95th year. Predeceased by her husband Cecil White and sisters Mary Alice, Myrtle and Doris. Leaving to mourn with loving memories her spouse of 27 years, Henry Ford Pitcher; nephews Maxwell (Beverly) Bursey, Byron (Linda) Bursey and Noel (Debbie) Milley; nieces Velma (Bill) LeGrow and Marion Bursey; also a number of other relatives and friends. A special thank you to the Doctors and Staff of Chancellor Park Nursing Home who were so caring and professional and also her home care workers who looked after Minnie during her illness. Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place on Wednesday May 18, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. from Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Sullivan, Brendan Joseph
Brendan Sullivan, born October 14, 1955, Baie Verte, passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, 16 May, 2016 after a lengthy and heroic battle with Wegener's. Son of the late William and Marie (Barker) Sullivan, he is survived by his wife, JuneAnn Manning, his son Neil (Laura), Neil’s mother Linda, and siblings Sheila (Normand Peladeau), Terry (Rian), Patricia (Dave Turner), Kevin (Michelle), Desmond (Catherine), Gerald (Lark), Edmund (Donna Nelson), Gene (Alice Prescott), Gerarda (Mikael Kahn) and Noreen, a large number of nieces and nephews: Ellen, Kevin, Michael and their Mother, Marlene; Bert, Chris, Cory, Mark, Suzanne, David, Colin, Claire, Shannon, Erin, Riley, Sean, grand nieces and nephews, Henry, Hayley, Kathryn, Niamh, and Emma. Following graduation from Memorial University in 1978, Bren worked as a provincial government economist in the Department of Mines and Energy and as Senior Economist in the Department of Transportation. In 1986, the lure of entrepreneurship enticed him away from the public service to build several companies with his brother and business partner, Des. Over more than thirty years, their interests included condominium and commercial construction, commercial leasing, and retail operations. Bren will be deeply missed by his ever loving family, his many friends and his business associates. Cremation having taken place, visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, Wednesday and Thursday, May 18th and 19th, 2-4pm and 7-9pm. No flowers by request. Bastow, Evelyn (nee Antle)
Passed peacefully away, Monday, May 16th, 2016 at the age of 80 yrs. Evelyn Bastow, beautiful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, formerly of Markland. Predeceased by her parents, Adeline and Joshua Antle; three brothers, Hedley, Bill and Ivor; five sisters, Liza, Doris, Violet, Julie and Sally; daughter Norine; and two sons, David and Glenn. Evelyn will be forever missed by her sister Valera Heath, Springdale; her children Lynn (John) Mercer, Sherry Griffin, Debbie Murphy, Craig (Linda) Bastow; twelve grandchildren, Ashlee, Jonathan, Mark, Kimberley, Donald, Andrew, Norine, Kelli, Amy, Coady, Natasha and Nathan; five great grandchildren, Colby, Payton, Cormac, Katherine and Sebastian; along with a large circle of family and friends. Thank you to the staff (her extended family), at Pleasant View Towers for all her wonderful care. She was a happy spirit who brightened our days! Passed peacefully but suddenly away in the arms of his loving wife, Justin Roff, aged 38 years. Leaving behind with broken hearts but wonderful memories his soulmate Jeannette (Bursey); the pride and joy of his life Brooklyn, Teanna and Mason; mom Linda Windsor (Wayne); father Alvin (partner Sandy); parents in law Jean and Jack Bursey; brothers Shannon (Jill), Stephen (Crystal) and Jason (Helena); brother in law John (Jillian); also a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, grandparents, other relatives and close friends. Passed peacefully away on May 20th, 2016, Patricia Lawlor, aged 70. Predeceased by her parents; husband of over 50 years, Leonard. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories; son Barry (Marge); daughter Lenora (Todd), as well as Janet Allen, whom she raised and loved as a daughter; grandchildren Dwane (Amanda), Siovhan (Ian), Jason (Melissa), Shane (April), Stephen and Cassandra; 2 great granddaughters: Mallorie and Kylie;; brothers-in-law: Harold (Olga), Billy (Tina), Dan (Lori), Nelson (Dawn), Leo, Sandy, Steve (Ann), Calvin (Lana), and Michael; sisters-in-law: Winnie (Ron), Agnes (Freeman), Joan (David) and Judy (Ed); special friends Maureen Lawlor, Patsy Lawlor, Therese Quilty and Mike Whelan, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. A Special Thanks to the staff of Hamilton’s Grocery and the staff at the Palliative Care Unit, L.A. Miller Centre. Cremation has taken place. Fitzgerald, Ruby Fern (nee Hollihan)
Ruby was born in St. John's on March 5, 1923 and passed peacefully away on May 20, 2016. Pre-deceased by her husband Jim, 1997, and her daughter Andrea, 2000. Leaving to mourn her daughter Geraldine; son Jim (Elaine); and son-in-law Brian Lynch (Evelyn Hibbs); her 5 grandchildren: Christopher and Peter Fitzgerald, Michelle Hicks (Jeremy), Donny Lynch, and Barry Lynch; her 5 great grandchildren Curtis Hicks, Jessica Hicks, Nicholas Lynch, Kaitlyn Lynch, and Keira Dunfield; brother in law Cyril (Leone); sister in law Margaret. Large circle of friends including: Mrs. Marguerite Cull, Mrs. Sue Butt, the McGrath, Burry, and Tobin families; also a number of other relatives and friends. We would like to thank Ms. Doris Kirby for her kindness during mom’s illness. Mom was a member of her church group, The Good Companions, and a proud member of the Canadian Wildlife Federation. We would like to thank the staff of 4 West of St. Clare's Hospital for their kindness and compassion during mom's stay. We would also like to thank mom's family doctor, Dr. Laura Edwards, for her visits to mom at home. Moore, Ralph Douglas – Passed peacefully away on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Chancellor Park, Ralph Moore, age 88 years. Son of the late Harold and Florence (Crocker) Moore. Predeceased by his wife Alberta (Abby) in 1965; brothers: Eric, Mac, Alec and Jim; sister, Mary Haggas. Left to mourn with fond memories his daughter Heather Schoenberg (Gregor); son, Geoff (Debbie); four grandchildren: Geoffrey (Jess), Katie (Steven), Hilary and Kelsey; special friends Leo and Sheila Rose; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Special thank you to the staff of 3-East at Chancellor Park for the care shown to our “Dad” during his stay there. Cremation has taken place at his request. Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Friday May 27th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, May 28th from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
