Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Minnie Mildred Sharpe announce her passing on Wednesday, April 15th, 2009 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 84 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Gerald (Margaret), Helen (Roy) Manuel, Evelyn (Bill) White, Ron (Joyce) and Glenn (Julia), special friend Walter March, grandchildren: Trent (Amy), Tracey-Lynn (Brian), Jason (Julie), Jamie (Andrea), Aaron, Andrea (Paul), Amanda (Colin), Shane (Michelle), Mason, Ryan (Sarah) and Evan (Mandy), great-grandchildren: Christian, Stephanie, Nathan and Noah, sisters: Jean Parsons and Valda Randell, brothers: Ron Taylor and Frank (Violet) Taylor, sisters-in-law Irene Taylor, Winnie Sharpe and Pearl Sharpe. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends especially her cat Abby. She was predeceased by her husband Boyce, 2000, parents Hayward and Ethel Taylor, sisters Eileen Kingsley, Violet Purchase and Doris Breedlove, brothers Leonard and Hayward Taylor, parents-in-law John and Emma Sharpe, sisters-in-law Rita Brinstone, Queenie March and Olive Heart, brothers-in-law Andrew Purchase, Bill Parsons, Hayward Randell, Jimmy Breedlove, Gerald Kingsley, Jim Sharpe and Bill Sharpe. CORNER BROOK, NL - It is with great sadness that we the family of the late Doreen (O’Driscoll) Braye announces her passing Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Palliative Care on April 4th, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. Our kind, gentle, meticulous Marlene is gone to finally be with her beloved Otis. She died suddenly without any fuss in her Grand Falls/Windsor apartment on March 27, only two weeks after her 71st birthday. Born March 10, 1938 in Botwood to Frank Woolridge and Winnie (Dalley) Woolridge. Predeceased by her father in 1954 and mother in 2001, her husband Otis 1994, her parents-in-law Allan Burton 1968, Maude (Burton) Clarke 1977, sister-in-law Vida Short 2000, niece Rhonda Marlene Southcott 1999. Lovingly remembered by sister Rita Southcott (Ronald), Grand Falls/ Windsor, brother-in-Law Maurice (Bess) Burton, Baie Verte, brother-in-Law Kerwin (Helen) Burton, La Scie, cousins Irene and Shawn Grandy, Corner Brook. Deer Lake, NL - Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre, St Johns at the age of 67, leaving to mourn are three sons, Victor (Maria), Sheldon, Wade, 3 grandchildren.
Brothers and Sisters: Gloria Simmons, Bruce (Gertie), Wayne (Joanne), Terry (Glenda), Shirley (Dave) Neville, Alex (Maggie) Reg (Colleen). He was predeceased by his parents Clyde (1986) and Myrtess (2008) and wife Joan (1998) Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at Fillatres Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive Deer Lake on Friday April 24th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A private family memorial service will take place on Saturday April 25th at 10 AM with Rev. Dr. Tony Newell officiating, Interment to follow at the Deer Lake Interdenominational Cemetery, United Section Wight’s Road. Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Charles W. Lockyer announce his passing at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s on Thursday, April 16th, 2009 at the age of 58 years. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and he lifted the spirits of everyone around him with his positive outlook and hope. He will be sadly missed by his loving and devoted wife Thelma of 38 years, sons Cory (Holly) and Paul (Colleen), his two precious grandchildren: Braden and Riley, his mother Mildred Lockyer, his siblings Bob (Patricia), Mt. Pearl, Marie (Tom Rideout), Corner Brook, Violet Lockyer, Corner Brook, Cyril (Toni), Corner Brook, Millie (Dale), Medicine Hat, AB, Saul (Jean), St. John’s, Larry Wolfe, Massachusetts, brother-in-law Larry O’Quinn (Lydia), Corner Brook, his two buddies Clev Best and Sam Thorn. As well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Robert Lockyer, his mother and father-in-law Myrtle and Samuel O’Quinn and brother-in-law Joseph Mullins. ADELINE HICKS (nee Howell)
1926 - 2009
Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of Adeline Hicks (nee Howell) announce her passing on April 1st, 2009, in her 83rd year. She leaves to mourn with loving memories her children, Robert(Norma) Hicks and Barbara (Kalvin) Penney; her six loving grandchildren, Michael (Shelly) Hicks, Andrew (Cheryl) Flynn, Alison Hicks, Michelle Penney and Matthew Penney, all of Corner Brook, and Christopher Hicks of Calgary, Alberta; and one great grandchild, baby Ava Adeline Flynn. She will also be remembered by sister, May Soper of Scarborough, Ontario, as well as a large number of nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Chesley in 1993, her sisters, Winnifred and Lily, and her brother, Bronson. Adeline loved life and lived it to the fullest until the end. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, where she enjoyed weekly card games and Bingo. She also enjoyed the card games and weekly social events at the Echo Club as well as her weekly bowling league. She will be sadly missed by her many friends.
