Wilson John Kean
Feb. 26, 1936 - March 30, 2009

The spirit of the Kean family’s stoic patriarch has been peacefully set free in the comforting company of his loved one's in his 73rd year. Pop will be forever missed by his adored wife of 52 years, Esther, and their 11 children and 23 grandchildren. Left to still learn from his quiet, but steady, way, are his six sons, Keith (wife Sherry) and Tyler and Chelsea; Dean (wife Ann Marie) and Melissa, Sarah, Daniel and Michael; Rick (partner Cathy) and Brianna; Jerry (partner Belinda) and Brooklyn, Jennifer and Justin; Gary and Byron (partner Brenda) and Adrienne and Owen. Left with memories of a wonderful dad are his five daughters, Bev Quinton and Lloyd Jr., Scott and Kelly; Danielle Cherubin (husband Mario) and Jessica and Jordan; Peggy MacIsaac (husband John) and Jake, Taylor and Brady; Janet Gosse (husband Jeff) and Jordan and Bethany; and Debra Moore (husband Steve) and Emily Rae. Wilson is also survived by his brothers George (Anita) and Gordon (Bev) and his sisters Shirley (Charles) Flynn, Alvina (Mike) George and Irene (Peter) O’Brien and their children. He was predeceased by his father, Daniel, and his mother, Margaret. Like the quick and effortless passage of time, Wilson John Kean’s strong wings no longer have to try so hard. He can relax again in the comfort of the cabin he designed and built with his own hands at Birchy Lake and spend the rest of his days playing with all his furry, four-legged buddies who eagerly await his arrival, especially Java, Sammy, Lucky and Brandy. Visitation for family and friends will take place at Fillatres Funeral Home on St. Mark’s Avenue on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will take place at All Hallows Church on Humber Road on Friday, April 3rd at 2:00 p.m. with Father Gordon Grace officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bay of Islands SPCA, Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
