JEAN ROSE RUMBOLT
June 13, 1937 - November 1, 2009

Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jean Rumbolt announce her sudden passing at her home at the age of 72. She leaves to mourn her daughter Carolyn Tavenor, son-in-law Tony, and grandchildren Joshua and Charlotte. She also leaves her twin sister, Joan Warnock (Iowa), sister Pauline Hall (Toronto), brothers and sisters-in-law Ralph Rumbolt (Peg), Margaret Boljkovac (George), Evelyn Rumbolt, Mary Madore, Bro. Ron Rumbolt (Welland, ON), nieces, nephews and a wide circle of cherished friends and neighbors. She will also be dearly missed by her beloved dog Jessie. Jean was predeceased by her husband Sidney Rumbolt Jr., parents Thomas and Mary Hall, sisters and brothers: Stephen, Ona, Lorna, Janice, and Tom, niece Jeannie, grand niece Robyn and parents-in-law Sidney and Matilda Rumbolt and brother-in-law Doug Madore. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Thursday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 6 at 10:30 AM from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mount Bernard Avenue with Monsignor Edwin Gale officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation, the Shepherds Fund or the Bay of Islands SPCA.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Susan Kelly announces her passing on Wednesday, October 28th, 2009 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 54 years. She leaves to mourn daughters: Josalee (Trent) Flynn, Corner Brook, Lorna (Keon) Genneaux, Port Saunders, Andy (Crystal), Devon, Alberta; grandchildren: Tori, Victoria, Kelsey, Tristen and Owen; mother: Nellie Plowman, Bartlett’s Harbour; sisters: Juanita (Gerard) Bromley, Port Au Choix, Margaret (Tom) Barrett, Fort Saskatchewan, Shirley (Glen) Payne, Daniel’s Harbour, Glenda (Roy) Myers, Bartlett’s Harbour, Lila Plowman, Shoal Cove; brothers: Angus (Mona), Devon, Alberta, Jeff (Lisa), Corner Brook, Maurice (Tammy), Lamonte, Alberta and Eugene (Denise), Daniel’s Harbour; as well as a very large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael; father: Eugene Plowman; parents-in-law: Millicent and Owen Kelly and sister-in-law: Hilda Hynes. Family will be receiving friends at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port Au Choix on Thursday, 7- 9 PM and Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. The funeral service will be take place on Saturday, October 31st at 10: a.m. from St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Father Lee Lainey officiating, followed by Interment at the Interfaith Cemetery, Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Daffodil Place.

Andrew "Junior" Alexander
1959-2009

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Andrew Junior Alexander announce his passing on Monday, October 19th, 2009 at the Labrador Health Centre at the age of 50 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife Heather; children: Andrew and Anna; parents: Charles and Mildred Alexander; sisters: Bride (Leo) and Janet; brothers: Dominic (Val), Clarence (Blanche), Randy (Pat) and Perry (Melanie); father and mother-in-law: Fred and Helen Pardy; sisters-in-law: Cheryl (Andre) and Kimberly (Jeff), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his sister Loretta and brother-in-law Monte. Friends visited Fillatre's Funeral Home, Happy Valley Goose Bay on Monday, October 20th between the hours of 7-9 p.m. and continuing from Fillatre's Funeral Home in Stephenville Crossing on Thursday & Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Memorial service will be held at the Pentecostal Church, Happy Valley Goose Bay on Saturday, October 24th at 10:a.m. The Funeral Service will take place at the Roman Catholic Church in Stephenville Crossing on Saturday, October 24th at 10:30 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Happy Valley Goose Bay SPCA (P.O. Box 2320, Station "B", Happy Valley Goose Bay, NL A0P 1E0).

JOHN JAMES McCARTHY

CORNER BROOK, NL - Passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 21st, 2009, John “Jack” McCarthy after a courageous battle with Cancer, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 73. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is his loving and devoted wife of 51 years: Christine; eight children: Anita (Brian) Blanchard, Debra (Barry) Elkins, Theresa, Kevin, Melvena (Paul Laing), Michael (Ellen), David (Theresa) and Dianna; grandchildren: Vanessa, Deanna, Anna, Amanda, Chrissy (Greg White), Andrew, Joshua, Krista, Gregory, Bradly, Paul, Shae, Mateao, Kyle, Coady, Kira and Jordan; two great grandchildren: Cole and Peyton; sisters: Sheila Froude, Madeline McCarthy, Eileen McCarthy, Dorothy Quilty (Dan) and Annie McCarthy; brothers: Joseph, Michael, Frank and Danny (Margaret) McCarthy; sisters-in-law: Alice Delaney, Charlotte Snow, Leona Wilton (Terry), Helen Fitzgerald, Blanche Fitzgerald, Mary Fitzgerald (Gary), Tina Vivian and Bernice Anthony (Michael); brothers-in-law: Clifford, Robert and Michael Fitzgerald; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Ann and John McCarthy; sister: Mary O’Brien; brother: Jim McCarthy and mother and father-in-law: Eunice and Tom Fitzgerald. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 23rd at 10:30 A.M. from The Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mt. Bernard Avenue. Monsignor Edwin Gale officiating, followed by interment at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. JOSEPH FORD BUTT
August 17th 1927 - October 18th 2009

Deer Lake, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joseph Butt announce his passing on Sunday, October 18th, 2009 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 82 years. Joe was a successful business owner of Deer Lake Sales and Services in Deer Lake for over 53 year’s. He was also a very prominent member of many organizations in Deer Lake, the Humber Valley and the province. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his sons: Archie (Angela), Reidville, Tom, Deer Lake, daughters: Cathy Janes, Fort McMurray, Joanne (Nolan) McKay, Deer Lake, Myra (David) Upward; Ottawa; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandsons, son-in-law Glenn Pearcey, Pasadena; sisters: Florence Melanson, Calgary, Ruth Legge, Pasadena; brothers-in-law: Gordon Gushue, Deer Lake, Reg Nichols, Corner Brook, and Ralph Nichols, Deer Lake, as well as a large circle of nieces nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Norma Butt, children: David Butt, Kerry Pearcey, son-in-law Stan Janes, daughter-in-law Inez Cross (Butt), parents: Henry Thomas and Annabel Butt and Sister Sadie Gushue, brothers: Reg (Bride) and Jack (Mary), brothers-in-law: Edgar Jr Legge, and Louis Melanson. Friends may visit Fillatres Funeral, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake on Monday from 7-9 PM and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funereal service will be held on Wednesday October 21st at 2 PM from St Paul’s United Church, Deer Lake with Rev. Dr. Tony Newell officiating. Interment to follow at the Deer Lake Interdenominational Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Pasadena, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alexander Carter announce his passing on Saturday, October 17th, 2009 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook at the age of 50 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his father John Carter, Pasadena; sisters: Maisie (Bruce) Lundrigan, Corner Brook and Christine (Shawn) Blanchard, McIvers; brothers: Wayne (Diane) Carter, Curling, John JR. (Glenda) Carter, Deer Lake, Daryl (Sandra) Carter, Pasadena and Bruce (Brenda) Carter, Cormack; nieces and nephews: Susan, Lori, Jason, Sonya, Shane, Nicole, Paul, Tracey, Terry, Kayla and Sheldon; great-nephew Dustin; great-niece Olivia. As well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Nora Carter, September, 1984. Friends may visit St. David of Wales Anglican Church in Pasadena on Sunday 7-9 PM and Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM from where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 20th at 2:00 PM with Rev. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife of 59 years Lucy (nee Samms); 5 sons: Dave (Barbara), Fred (Sharon), Roger (Anne), Max (Debbie) and Harold (Linda); grandchildren: Jason (Krista), Marika Wiseman (Michael), Heather, Cindy Leslie (Andy), Monique, Holly, Leslie and Vickie; great-grandchildren: Chelsea, Bella, Erika, Matthew, Jack and William; sister Margaret Young, sister-in-law Eileen Parsons, he will be sadly missed by special friends Dulcie and Rendell Loder, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Ethel and William Lewis, son Tony, granddaughter Tracy and daughter-in-law Hedy. She was predeceased by her husband Bobby Gagnon, daughter Annette Gagnon, granddaughter Melissa Gagnon, second husband Stanley O’Brien, her parents and 6 sisters.
