Vera Patricia KENDELL (nee Fiander)
Oct. 1, 1930 - Nov. 16, 2009

Woodville, NL - Vera Patricia kendell (nee Fiander), Woodville, age 79, passed peacefully away November 16, 2009 at Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Center, Port Aux Basques with her children by her side. Born October 1, 1930 to the late Isaac and Ethel Fiander. She was predeceased by her husband Charlie in 2003; infant daughter at birth; brothers: George, Jack and Vincent; sisters: Dorothy, Ruth and Elizabeth. Mom will forever be remembered by daughters: Judy (Gerry), Millville, NL, Nancy (Bob) Brooks, AB, Bonnie (Trent) Lakeside, NS; sons: Charlie Jr. (Judy), New Glasgow, NS, Dennis (Maureen) St. John’s, NL, Donald (Pearl) Lower Sackville, NS; grandchildren: Kris (Lucie), Kirk, Emily, Shawna, Rachel, Jennifer, Nathan and Lauren; great-grandchild Julia; brother Ralph (Marion) Woodville; sisters: Hilda, Port Aux Basques and Marie (Jack) Woodville; sisters-in-law: Rita, Gladys, Kay, Nora, Addie, Muriel (Alex) Port Aux Basques; brothers-in-law Eric (Irene) and Ira, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, many friends with special mention of her dear friend Geraldine. She was very active in her church as well as the ACW, also a member of the Oceanview Seniors Club, enjoyed knitting, darts, and bingo. She was gifted with a great memory, which was evident in her storytelling. Friends may visit Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Codroy on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm, from where the Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, November 19th at 2:00 p.m., Reverend Boote officiating. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted.

ROLAND JOHN MORRIS
MARCH 11, 1943 – NOVEMBER 16, 2009

ST. DAVID’S, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Roland John Morris of St. David’s announce his passing at his family residence in St. David’s on Monday, November 16th at the age of 66 years. He leaves to mourn with many precious memories his wife Mabel; daughters: Kerry Lee (Emanuel Cormier), Jasper, AB, Wendy (Kirk Hillier), Wolfville, NS, Stephanie (Kent), Amherst, NS; son Harvey (Amanda), Edmonton, AB; brothers: Aubrey, St. David’s, Ronald (Cathy), Curling, NL; nieces and nephews: Peter, Jeffrey, Claudette, Nakita as well as other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Augustus and Harriett Morris. The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday beginning at 4:00 p.m. from St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church in St. David’s from where the funeral service will take place on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Canon David Pearce officiating. Interment will follow in the Anglican Cemetery, St. David’s. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing.

Mabel Bennett

Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mabel Bennett announce her passing on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 84 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, her special daughter: Michelle McLeod (Todd); special grandchildren: Joshua and Jessica; brothers: Jim Frampton (Faye), Fred Frampton, Lloyd Frampton (Vi), Raymond Frampton (Betty); sisters-in-law: Mabel (Alphonse) Aucoin and Dorothy Murley; special niece: Joan Tooke and special nephew Rod Mitchell; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband Joshua Bennett, 1987; sisters: Mary Jane Maroun, Catherine Mitchell and Emma O’Connell; brothers: Ronald Frampton and his wife Anne, and Michael Frampton; sister-in-law: Myrtle Bennett; parents Joseph and Mary Frampton. Visitation will take place from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling street on Sunday evening, 7-9:00 p.m. and Monday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 17th at 2:00 p.m. from Memorial United Church, Curling. Reverend Clayton Parsons officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Memorial United Church Memorial Fund.

Brian Donald McLean
February 23, 1957 – November 14, 2009

Trout River, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Brian Donald McLean announces his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Saturday, November 14th, in his 52nd year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories: parents Mona and Bert McLean; brothers: Wayne (Rhonda), Jim (Trudy); sisters: Christine (Jim) White, Lois (Brian) Gill, Sharon McLean, and Shirley (Albert) Pear; special cousins: Alex and Freddy MacLean; nephew Jimmy; nieces: Sharrel, Kaitlyn, Jessica, and Chantel; as well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends, especially those friends and co-workers in Fort McMurray, AB. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake, on Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM, from where the funeral will take place on Tuesday, November 17th at 2 PM. Cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted or a donation may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

PHILOMENA BUTT
1927-2009

Corner Brook, NL - It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of the late Philomena Butt (nee McCarthy) announce her peaceful passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Saturday, November 14th, 2009 with her family at her side. She fulfilled the active role of both mother and father, with faith, love, courage and determination, since the tragic passing of her husband, Nelson in 1957. She leaves to mourn with loving and wonderful memories her children: Gary (Patsy), Paulette Tobin, Keiren (Hazel), with whom she resided, as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren, the pride of her life, Annette Butt (Cory), Natasha Butt (Calvin), Nelson Tobin (Brandy), Fort McMurray, Alberta, Christopher Tobin, Tara Tobin, Kayla Tobin, Gerard Butt, Heather Sweetapple and Cassidy Strickland. Also left to mourn are her brothers Norbert McCarthy (Dale), Jack McCarthy (Elaine), of Wabush, sister, Eileen Campbell, brother-in-law: Kenneth Brinston (Pat) of Labrador City, Raymond Butt, Gordon Butt, sisters-in-law: Loretta McCarthy, Louise McCarthy, Marion Butt, as well as Helen Butt, whom she loved as a daughter, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Philomena was predeceased by: her husband, Nelson, infant daughter, Dora, son-in-law Paul Tobin, parents Mary and Frank McCarthy, sister, Patricia Brinston, brothers Anthony, Tom, Francis McCarthy, mother and father-in-law, Dora and John Butt, sisters-in-law Paula McCarthy, Joan Butt, Geraldine Butt, brothers-in-law, Neil Campbell, Bernard Butt, Harvey Butt, Edward Butt, and best friend, Marjorie Hann. Visitation will take from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 16th at 10:30 a.m. from The Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mt. Bernard Avenue, Father Ambrose Hynes officiating. Interment to follow at Townsite Cemetery, Montgomery Street. EVELYN MAY BARNES (nee Macey)
1919-2009

Frenchman’s Cove, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Evelyn Barnes announce her passing on Wednesday, November 11th, 2009 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age 90 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her daughters: Mary (Don) Lake, Marie (Daniel) Killeen and Loretta (Calvin) Cornelius; sons: Calvin Macey (Hilda) and Wayne (Lisa) Barnes; special family member: Genny Gallant; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; one sister: Janet Tucker; homecare worker: Eva Hynes; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband Harry Barnes; son: George Barnes; sister: Lavina “Tess” MacDonald and brother: John Macey. Visitation will take place from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling street on Friday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m from where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 14th at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Nellie Thomas officiating. McIvers, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Brian Park announce his passing on Wednesday, November 11th, 2009 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook at the age of 52 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife: Patricia; three sons: Michael (Kayla), Andrew (Fallon) and Robert; his father: Mr. Reuben Park; one sister: Missie Brake (Jan); six brothers: Howard (Janice), Morley (Gertie), Joseph (Lisa), Ward (Glenda), Patrick (Evelyn) and Brad (Sonya); as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews, whom he thought the world of, brothers and sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Drucilla Park. Friends may visit The Epiphany Anglican church, McIvers on Thursday evening, 7-9 P.M. and on Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. from where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 14th at 11:00 .A.M. Reverend Joan Coles officiating, followed by interment at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, no flowers by request, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Burke, Sr. announce his passing on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 89 years. He leaves to mourn his children: Frank (Cynthia), St. John's, Linda, British Columbia, Pat (Hilda), Bird Cove, Fenton, Ontario, Mary (Marcel), Calgary, Dulcie, Port au Choix, Annette (Cleophas), Corner Brook, Cathy, Toronto, and Jim, Corner Brook; 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, sisters: Marjoria Myers, Yvonne Ploughman, Cecilia, sisters-in-law: Aggie, Pauline, Maryann, and Mary Alice Burke, Philomena, Nellie, and Mildred Rumbolt, brothers-in-law: Guy (Mary Rumbolt), Jack (Emma) Rumbolt, and a very special lady, his caregiver, Evelyn Gould, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was pre-deceased by his wife Eva. The family will be receiving friends from Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix, on Friday and Saturday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and Sunday 2-4 p.m. The funeral service will take place From St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church on Monday, November 9, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Lee Lainey officiating. The interment will follow at the Interfaith Cemetery, Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.
